Last night I had a home version of colcannon and sausages.

I over estimated the amount of turnip greens to mix with my mashed potatoes and onions to make the colcannon and wow.....that mustard flavor
really took over.

I had the first picking of multi coloured swiss chard, young broccoli leaves to put with my home laid eggs along with chopped spring
onions and a small amount of turnip greens for a late breakfast after working in the garden all morning.

You can just feel your system absorbing all those beautiful nutrients when it's been mere mins. between harvest and eating.

I fried a fresh batch of squash, batter, half an half flour/cornmeal with salt and freshly cracked pepper. I use ranch dressing as a dip for the squash. I got a pack of 4 ribeyes at the market for $6 the other day. They are only 1/4 inch thick so they cook really quickly. I over cooked the one yesterday. Today I cut the cook time in a cast iron skillet to 1:15 seconds on the first side, about 50 seconds on the second, a perfectly rare ribeye steak!

Guess i need to locate my thick chilli for chilli dogs tonight.

We had chili yesterday for lunch.

Today's menu :
Lunch : one small hamburger with biscuits and white gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit cup, coffee
Supper will be: stuffed chicken breast, cornbread dressing, fresh picked sage out of garden, glazed carrots, served over rice.
coffee with big 32 ounces glass of unsweet tea.

My kind of food. Seldom cook meals anymore though unless company.

My squash is getting ripe every day this past week. I've had fried squash with this... I've had fried squash with that... every day for a week, still not tired of it. I love fried squash. I slice it with a mandolin, about 1/8 inch thick.

This year I found a new recipe I love... 50/50 mix of flour and cornmeal for breading... milk to bind, salt and fresh ground pepper... simple yet so yummy. :)

We had squash 4 times this week, we like it in egg omelette too. What few rabbits left us.

That's the way I've ate it since I was a kid!

The wife bought a large bag of frozen mixed vegetables at Costco. Neither of us could choke it down, it was really nasty. She took the rest of the bag, a can of chicken stock, curry, ginger, garlic, about a cup of water, cooked it up and used an immersion blender to cream everything. At he end she adds about a cup of heavy cream. Now we buy these nasty frozen vegetables just to make that soup.

Maybe some crow latter on .

Had pear and banana for breakfast, maybe walnuts and apples for lunch. Maybe piece of pizza for supper with whatever. Hubby will have fried chicken and whatever else he decides to eat.
I need to gain weight but just don't like meat at all anymore so its eggs and nuts olives, squash, etc,.

Made carrot salad yesterday so it will be good today. Making potato salad beans and cornbread or maybe hush puppies. Hubby will have burgers with his. I may have a little but I'm not much into meat now a days. Taste different.

Carrot salad is something I have not had in years. Do you add raisins? Care to post up your recipe for us?

When we have them this time it is just mayo, carrots, salt sugar.
I usually put in raisin's, pineapple ,mayo, little sugar, salt. Have been known to add apples too if they are here. Not much we can't add I guess.
Pineapple and raisins are not on sale and not paying $4 for fresh or $2 a can. Will stock up next tiem on sale.

My cousin brought me over a fresh cantaloupe. She always starts a few plants early in a little make-shift greenhouse she has. It’ll be another month before my cantaloupe is ready.

I had a handful of steamed shrimp, fried squash and a yummy slice of cantaloupe for dinner.

Looks good Peanut. I'll make us some of that squash tomorrow.:Thankyou:

I had a nice BBQ'ed rib eye, with BBQ'ed brussel sprouts, fresh pot of chicken broth rice, a tomato and soft mozzarella cheese and basil coated with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Of course garlic bread. And to top it off, a nice bottle of Stag's leap Petite Syrah, 2013 vintage. The absolute best bottle of wine I have ever had!
