It's been raining for over two weeks straight, still too wet to run the tiller.
Just keep in mind your horseradish root will run underground and has about a 2 1/2-3 ft tap root. From the run offs more horseradish will develope. It's kinda like dollar weed, if you miss digging up the tiniest of root, it will make a new plant. This is just an fyi. You may want to try and contain or give it it's own bed. It does help with repelling insects off tomatoes. Learned that one by accident. . .Yesterday I picked up some fruit trees; 3 each apple, cherry and plum also raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, asparagus and horseradish roots and fence posts. They didn't have any grape or blackberry plants at the nursery. The truck and trailer was fully loaded so I didn't have room for any fertilizer. I got a call yesterday that the rototiller is at the truck depot about 125 miles away. On Monday I'll go pickup the rototiller and check another nursery for grape and blackberry plants and get a ton of steer manure for the garden.
This spring I plan to put in another 500 fence posts. One section of fence, about a half mile long and is all bed rock, currently Im using rock cribs to hold up the wire. Each crib takes about a day or so to build. I made a deal with a neighboring rancher to bring his rock drill up to drill some post holes instead of building more cribs.
The grass is coming up good now and it's almost time to start bringing the cattle up from the valley.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I was planning on planting them in a raised bed next to where the tomatoes go. Maybe I should plant them somewhere else and let them go wild and cover as much ground as they want.Just keep in mind your horseradish root will run underground and has about a 2 1/2-3 ft tap root. We have two days of rain starting late tonight. Guess I will just relax tomorrow. At this stage of my life I’m just not motivated enough to go out and work in the rain here.
Hope you got that headache sorted out. Sometimes a shot of liquor and a nap is the best thing for one.You will love having a well Brent. At least we do, mainly cause it makes are lives so much easier when watering all the critters, but for the garden too. Your plants will be much happier without all the extras they add into your main water lines now days.
I went to the fabric store yesterday and stocked up on the next grandbaby quilt material. Next little girl due Oct 25th so thought since it will be raining, that's what I can be working on. I started doing some today and it's going pretty quick. Doing a Carpenters Star 24" block with a few boarders around to bring it out to a baby quilt size. Kids want to do the nursery in blues, aquas, and taupe so it's kinda a challenge to make it girly. They live at the beach so trying to make it " beachy" looking with waves. I'm throwing in some corals and yellows so crossing my fingers.
my head is still hurting so had to break out the generic vicodin. If that doesn't do the trick, there's 2 bottles of wine in the fridge and some Vodka in the liquor cabinet. . . I'm almost at that point, but not yet.
I like the shot and nap idea. I might have try that. For headache prevention of course.Hope you got that headache sorted out. Sometimes a shot of liquor and a nap is the best thing for one.
Good for all sorts of ailments!I like the shot and nap idea. I might have try that. For headache prevention of course.
Yeah, we are thouroughly soaked here. I was working outside and after three hours it changed from a drizzle to a more steady rain so I decided to call it a day. All our work right now is outside so I’m just taking it easy for now. Luckily tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so the guys can be out in the bucket truck again.Rain and rain. I am at the point of pulling weeds but can't plant. figures.
I really need to plant the potatoes I cut up two days ago, but it’s still raining pretty good here. Hoping this front moves on through soon.Starting to dry up a little now(roads are drying), so glad, but will be a few till can get out in the dirt.
I felt much better by the next day. . . finally got to sleep about 2 am. Think the shot of Vodka helpedHope you got that headache sorted out. Sometimes a shot of liquor and a nap is the best thing for one.
