Dr.J what brand mill is that? Never seen it before. I like the log carrier too. I need one of those in a bad way.

Spike the trader guy has a very nice collection. I see a lot of stuff like that at re-enactments, but don't know I've saw one with that volume of stuff.

TG, I'm glad to hear Landshark is back home. I know you are thrilled

@LadyLocust Deep fried Oreos is actually pretty good. You can get whatever you want, deep fried at the Iowa state fair. You can get deep fried butter. Not kidding!😁
Our American Legion post partners with the AMVETS post each October for the NE Florida State Fair, and we have a food both at the head of the midway. In fact, we already paid our $750 fee.
We sell funnel cakes ($4), fried Oreos (two for $1) fried Twinkees ($1 each) and our specialty - the Walkin' Taco.
I work the order window, it lets me sit down, and I talk to people while they are waiting for their order. Many, many tell me that a trip to the fair would not be complete without a Walkin' Taco.
You take an individual size bag of Doritos, crush them up, open the bag, and put the ingredients in. Ground beef cooked in taco seasoning, lettuce, shredded cheese, onions, sour cream, stick a plastic fork in it, and presto!!
That and a canned soda is only $5 - best deal on the midway. And, we are the ONLY ones who do it.
Me, being an old geezer, have a good time watching the teens and early 20's. This is a country area, most guys wear cowboy shirts and ball caps, the girls wear ripped up jeans and cowboy boots.
And even though I'm carrying, we've got the safest place at the fair. Directly across the 20 foot walkway is the county sheriff's substation. When I'm on the counter, all law men and women eat free.

It was our 15th anniversary today, we drove over south of Joplin to The Cave Bar and Grill for a couple of beers and appetizers then back to Springfield for dinner. We are back home in The Shade now. A lot of driving but we had a hell of a nice day!

Happy Anniversary to you two! Looks like you had a great day!
Just enjoyed a piece of peach and cream cheese pie our neighbor made and brought over. It was really good. Went bin shopping this morning, and little granddaughter was at our neighbors playing with their girls this morning and had lunch with them. Husband and I went out to lunch. Granddaughter texted my husband and said that they were at the funeral today, and the last few days seemed like a week. I doubt that she misses us at all, but I'm sure she misses the boyfriend. They come home tomorrow night. The boyfriend has grandaughter's car, so we don't pick them up. Oh, it's been a very nice few days without the two of them.

Love the old limestone cave venues for restaurants, concerts, etc. When I visited half a dozen of the show caves in Missouri, I heard that some of the caverns would be used for PARTYING, lol. Especially during the idiotic Prohibition, as if mankind would NOT find a way to PAR-TAY, lol. Dumb@$$ G-men trying to shut down human nature... I reckon nothing has changed in recent decades, AYE?!?

Spikedriver, those fair shots are PRIMO, they make me feel as if I'm THERE... ;)

It will be popular in Utah. I agree, it is not something to wear to certain locations and especially in some cities. I made that one for the neighbor, I will probably print up 3 more to take to the corner and see what people think. But, it isn't much different than the Let's Go Brandon shirts and bumper stickers and I have seen enough of the FJB shirts and bumper stickers to believe people will be interested. There are still plenty of pickups around here flying the Trump flags.

yep, there is still people with Trump yard signs around here. I am thinking this, if and when everything falls apart, I wouldn't want to stick out so I would also not have a Lets go Brandon bumper sticker. I don't want to make myself a target
Plus, I think we would lose some of our good customers at the market if I wore such a shirt. That's what I was thinking....good luck with the shirts!

Baking bread today for the market, plus other things to get ready. Puppy is going to be unhappy since none of us will have much time for him today meaning he will be in his crate a lot. Son is driving his friend from Florida to the airport so he won't be here either.

Spikedriver: we used to go the fair in Orlando, THAT is a scary place. It's in a ghetto area and nothing like county fairs in rural areas.

Tank Girl, glad the landshark is back home and ok. This is why I got a boy this time . My previous German Shepherd also had issues when I got her fixed. She didn't want to be still and ripped her stitches open twice and it got infected.

Albuquerque is another scary fair. I'd laugh that you'd get charged for parking, and then you'd get your car stolen anyway. We have our small town Heritage Day coming up at the end of the month, and then our fair in the bigger city in September.
Going to fill a cart at Aldi while husband goes to a doc appt today. Chores around here to do. Twins come home tonight. Told neighbor I'd buy some broccoli and cauliflower in town today for her. She needs to make salad to bring for church Sunday. Her mama's got church on Sunday at their place, so my neighbor is also making a million loaves of bread for the lunch afterwards.

Heading to town later to resupply, gotta water and get cleaned up first. Slept in till 0800 this morning, which is unusual, but I'm still feeling some residual fatigue from the Goathead War. This must be old age creeping up on me, but OTOH, I did a whole heap o' stooping and bending while dealing with those noxious weeds... gonna take it easy this weekend and just relax. No hard labor, no stoop labor, none of that ugly business this weekend.

Watched a really BAD movie yesterday afternoon, I mean a real stinker, but it had the redeeming value of being an unintentional comedy... the film was 'Q' (for Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec deity & feathered serpent), and the special effects were atrocious, so bad that they were comical. The scenes where the wounded serpent tosses the guys off the building are HILARIOUS!!! If you need a good laugh, be sure to watch this movie... it sucks to the point where it's funny.

Well, I'd better go water before the sun gets any higher, I'm just gonna water the fruit trees and my veggie garden... I'm moving slowly today on account of the Goathead War. Boy, those goldurned weeds just about kicked my @$$, lol... I've never seen tougher weeds to eradicate. Good thing I bought that flamethrower, that thing saved the day by torching vast carpets of goathead vines. Ugh. But my yard should be nice next season with far less goatheads!!! Cheers!!!

Washed and dressed the wound on the horses ankle, it is looking better. Misted him with fly spray. Took him for a short walk and then let him graze on the weeds in the gardens. He would have eaten the weeds all day but I have work to do.
Last night I designed the DON'T CALIFORNIA OUR UTAH shirt so now I have to print out the template to burn the silk screen. I will sort through the left over shirts I have and print that on as many as I can, I think I can come up with maybe a dozen in assorted colors that will look good with a black print. If that goes fast enough I will print several with our community name, that will be a good way to use up some of the darker colored shirts with a white print. I am getting a little better using the new CorelDraw software, finding where the different tools are, I need to watch some more YouTube videos to learn how to put the things I need on the tool bar and also make up a cheat sheet with the various shortcuts using key controls instead of finding them in the various menus with the mouse.
If I get this all prepared for the farmers market at the corner tomorrow morning that should pretty much guarantee a rainstorm for the morning. 🌧️💦☔

Animal chores this morning. Our neighbor came by hauling the horse trailer on the tractor to get stuff out of her freezer that we have in our outbuilding. She didn't attached the trailer fully, it came off, and she was having a bad morning. Told her to just let it be. Her husband can come get it after work. Glad it didn't happen on the road, and instead it was on our way back driveway. Went to Aldi and filled a cart with little granddaughter. No oatmeal, hamburger was $4 a lb, no chicken. Very little sugar. Filling a cart used to be $200 there. Now it's closer to $300. I have groceries to put away, and afternoon chores to do, but think little granddaughter and I will go to the farmer's market and thrift shop in our little town this afternoon, and drop off some broccoli and cauliflower to a neighbor for a church salad she's making. Twins will be coming back some time this evening. They've blocked all their social media so we can't see what they're doing while gone, but did see a photo of grandson with an old friend. The friend's dad posted it. Am glad that they got to see each other.

@Tank-Girl - so glad Landshark is home, prayers for a speedy recovery!

@LadyLocust - the fairs will deep fry anything, as many have said. One near us had deep fried ice cream which I never have figured out how they managed to fry without melting it!

@hashbrown - congrats on 15, looks like it was a wonderful night :)

@Wingnut - thought of your Goathead war today, was at the pharmacist's and the building is surrounded by these large rock beds which every square inch was covered in goathead vines. Made my hands and feet hurt just looking at them

@Spikedriver - I think nighttime at any fair brings out the freaks. I used to think our town's little Art City Days was quaint until we vended a couple of years back and had people just robbing us so brazenly it was crazy

@INresponse - would love to see more of the shirts when you get them made! I almost pulled the trigger on leasing a DTG (direct to garment) printer to add t-shirts to our comic-con side business right before covid hit and the cons, farmer's markets and other shows all got shut down. Glad I dodged that bullet :)

@Amish Heart - hope your grandkids make it home safely and that a little time apart mas mellowed them out a bit. Even if it hasn't my malicious mind chuckles that the time you all have left together will seem a lot longer to them than to you because of their youth ;P

So glad we don't have a wedding reception hanging our our heads anymore. It rained for about 30 minutes right as the final preparations were taking place which made it crazy, but the skies cleared up and the rest of the night was beautiful. There was a live jazz band where the groom's sisters both sang with (it was the elder sister's band) and they both have voices like angels - it was so beautiful.

Hit the doctor's for a follow up on my concussion today and turns out I'm not healing as quickly as he would like, so I'm off of screens (computers, tablets, phones, etc.) unless absolutely necessary and I need to get PT to help with getting my eye hand coordination going again. I'm just glad I was able to answer the what month and day are it questions. And the nurse got a chuckle when she asked who the current president was and I replied "Brandon" :)

Last night cleared branches from the "remote" site for Queen City Emergency Net (Red Cross served agency) for a new antenna. Today, cleaned the chainsaw, mowed the yard. Tonight, I hope to able to move :p. Rehab activities hurt, but you gotta do stuff to GSD. A long road back from the tribulations of 2020/21.

Tank-Girl, I'm so glad Landshark is ok! Hope she recovers quickly.

I went to samsclub yesterday & then got home and did more cleaning. My body ached badly yesterday but is a bit better today. I need some more rest though. I overdid so my body isn't fully cooperating.

Visited a family friend today. Have not seen her in a few years. Made tomato sauce yesterday with our roma tomatoes. Will make another batch tomm. Been on light duty this week, muscle pull. Looking forward to this weekend, our historical commission is having a presentation which I am part of. Hoping for a good turnout.

Just finished a heavy work week. We switched over onto pine, mostly shop but a few regular cuts like 1x4 or 2x6 stuff.
A wet 16 foot 10.5 pine is heavy! The last two days we had a few breakdowns upon getting buried in lumber ..so me n another worked non stop 8.5 hours both days. Bathroom breaks of course but I'm beat. We took turns running the machine, dumping bins n working the rail fixing wrecks.
So..im sitting in my cozy chair, drinking a cold brew now, catching up on here n news n hoping I get to watch lightning later.
Yea!

@hashbrown Happy anniversary! That cave bar looks amazing! I'd love that.

@Spikedriver Your fair pics are making me crave fair food. lol We have a big fair here in September, I can't wait.

@Wingnut I'm glad you got those weeds under control, your war is inspiring me to go after the invasive vines in my yard. 😈

@INresponse Good luck with your t-shirts! Hopefully you'll sell out of them.

@TeeJ I hope your head gets better soon! Try to take it easy.

I was busy at work this week, which I like since it makes the day go by faster. I took my dog to a specialist yesterday about his weight loss and lack of appetite. After more blood tests, an ultrasound and an echocardiogram, we know he has a heart issue (not a surprise) and the vet thinks he may have a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. So she gave me meds for him and we're trying them to see if he improves. She was very thorough and honest, which I like. So hopefully he'll put some weight back on and feel better soon.

Been going through the new boat, learning what's where. Still have to go through all the storage compartments and bags of tackle. FIL had a bunch of stuff tucked away everywhere. We got the motor running and seems like everything's in order to take it out this weekend. Should be fun for me to learn to drive it. 😆

Busy week, Wife is feeling better, but still hurtin and itching to have both hands to get busy canning.
Been working from home and gettin her around in the mornings, get in and do all the on site stuff I have to do. Finally made some progress with the Telecom Proposals. Got 2 done and 2 more under review. Also picked up 2 more to work thru. I did find a class thats online and helps you find all the info needed to do these things. Boss told me to take it if I wanted. 12 week deal, gotta figure out if I have the time for it.
Mowed the field, then picked beans, mowed that area off and where my tater rows are so it'll dry out

Spent the last 2 days working on the chicken pen, digging out cinder blocks, moved and stacked 50 or so yesterday afternoon. My back is sore today, stiff and I’m more exhausted than usual.

So I went plant hunting, always makes me feel better… I intended to walk down a creek, down stream past the site of an old gristmill. I’ve never been in there. The creek was up a foot and muddy. It’s dangerous when it’s clear and the water is low. I passed… I was alone and over 2 miles from the nearest house, not worth the risk.

So I tried to find another way in there, further down stream… 2nd picture… past the tractor and the soybeans, past the tree line at the end of the field, is that same creek. I tromped through brush for an hour, didn’t even find a game trail into the creek. I did find a big doe. I walked up within 20ft of where she was bedded down. She stood and looked at me, had no inclination to run so I asked her if there was a trail to the creek. She ignored me and lay back down. Women!

I settled for harvesting some mtn mint for my clothes dryer.

Happy Gettin Hitched day. Looks like yall had a great time.

I love Cave's that are fixed up into something like that. I got to tour a winery once. The entire cellar was in a huge cavern. Had a nice meal and plenty of wines to try out. There was close to 20 of us and almost everyone had a great time

Sweet husband had 39 red roses delivered for me today. We'll celebrate our 39th tomorrow and go out to dinner.
And, they're back. Twins got home just a bit ago, and I told them I hope they had a great time. They said they did. And I hope the reconnected with their other side of their family so they can move in with some of them in 303 days.
