Congratulations @MoBookworm1957 ! Happy times!

I'm glad that you got your mom off all the extra drugs @Amish Heart! It was just making extra money for the nursing home, in my opinion.

I've already set up my vitamins for the next month.
Church next.
Walk dogs.
Add some top soil to potatoes and other plants that need it.
Make a new dill pickle recipe.
Start the salt rising starter with heating pad and see if it helps. Up date tomorrow!

A productive day. It's a bank holiday here, went to a 70th dinner last night, and OH promised to go to archery with the birthday boy today, so after my usual chores, and planting out of sunflowers, I decided to sort out the larder, and the cupboard next to it which stores the airfryer, jam jars and tinned goods. There's been a funny smell in it that I haven't been able to put my finger on. Turns out a tin of potatoes at the back had busted. No damage to anything so once that was sorted I refilled my jars and containers with sugar, flour etc from the store- used the last of the pasta that I bought during covid and made lists of what I need to replenish. Also made a quiche, used up some dodgy natural yogurt by making scones, and tried a new no cook peanut butter health bar recipe. Found a jar of mincemeat left from Christmas and made little pies- he'll be delighted when he comes home- the hottest day of the year and mince pies! :D I should clean the kitchen but I shouldn't overdo it ;) besides, son no2 has just dismantled a load of game controllers and is carefully cleaning out each one with ear buds and 'frankensteining' the ones that work, so I won't disturb him!

So we went to the flea market yesterday to try and sell meat, but no go. I guess people just go there to buy junk, not food. Oh well , it was worth a try once. It's a large fleamarket. We left early . I got some cheap made in China socks and they made my feet burn ....I threw them in the trash, didn't even bother washing them . They were cheap no great loss. I should have known better and not bought them in teh first place

Truck not fixed yet
Supposed to rain again this afternoon

We had to take 2 little intact bucks ( nice one we plan on either breeding or selling) away and put them in a different pasture . They were starting to hump their little sisters. They are out there screaming their heads off poor little guys...

The Uhaul finally sent someone ( a huge semi that can probably tow another semi) to pick up the little bobcat we rented

First week of day shift in awhile..nice change to sleep in my bed at night. Hate waking up at 4am tho..
That's just wrong..
Besides work, I've been scrambling to plant the garden and mowing ..mowing..mowing.
The rain n warm 70's has kept the grass growing like crazy..
Went mushroom hunting last 2 weekends for a few hours n nothing..still too cool up th here at night I think.
I might go today..but I gotta get some mowing n planting done still.
Turkeys are hatching in the coop. Momma let me see one and it's a beautiful chick from my tom I got last year. I dont know what heritage breed he is but he got the job done.
I'll see if I can get a pic later..

You kinda get used to waking up at 4 AM, but its wrong every time:p. Did it for 17 years working, and so far, 8yrs retired. How does one reset the clock after decades :(

Hey there! I had a really wonderful day today. I went to church with my family and it was such a peaceful and uplifting experience. There's something so special about being in a community of people who share the same values and beliefs. After church, we went out to dinner and had a wonderful time together. It's always nice to catch up and just enjoy each other's company. Tomorrow, I'll be heading back to the farm to get some work done. It's not always easy, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day.

Thank you Snappy1
By Christmas will have 6 grand children under the age of 11 years old.
Two of them will be rolling around, reaching for things.

A man stopped at the house this morning looking for his donkey (neighbor up the road a few miles). It was his jack that was out the other day. Now it makes sense, he’d just bought the jack. His granddaughter left a gate open and it was trying to go home.

This guy tried to buy my horse a few years ago but I’d forgotten about it. He asked again today so I sold him my horse and donkey together. Didn’t want to do it, but it was the best thing for my boys. I got both of them the same spring. The horse was a 3-day old foal, the donkey about month old. They are my buddies, pocket pests but I haven’t ridden since I got hurt by a bull. They’re not worth anything, just scrubs.

My options were few, unless I found them a good home they probably ended up at the Beaverton auction where they’d have been sold for meat (shipped to mexico). This guy has a government job, is always working extra odd jobs. A hard working man, not a dead beat or druggy. I once had him pressure wash all the windows here (2 story).

Best part, they’ll be only 5 miles away. I drive by the pasture every few days so I can stop and see them if I wish. I do noooot want to do this but my obligations here are changing rapidly. I don’t have time for them now and my time will becomes shorter as the months pass. My cousin is running the farm now and he’s not overly fond of equines and has no use for them. He’d have never asked me to get rid of them but doing so makes his life simpler.

It’s time, my neighbor will be here with a trailer tomorrow afternoon. And I couldn’t ask for a better home by my buddies, in spite of the wayward jack. (I can get high quality hay cheap. I’ll take them a couple rolls come fall, make sure they are well fed through the winter.)

Gonna miss them following me around the farm, but my farming days are over...

Gonna go easy today, maybe hang some pictures in the other bathroom, depends upon how I feel... the sudden loss of my little Z-Girl has been tough. Didn't touch one drop of alcohol yesterday, if that tells ya anything... a river of alcohol couldn't deaden the pain & grief of losing my young cat. Maybe she'll miraculously turn up, in which case I'll be overjoyed, but the situation has not improved yet, and I fear the worst has happened. At least she had 10 good months with me, and lived a happy life until her disappearance. That makes two young female cats who've disappeared since I arrived here roughly 16 months ago... not a very good track record. I lost little Phoenix the same way over a year ago, she went out one night and never returned, but she was with me for at least three years. :(

Peanut, I'm glad you found a home for the horse and donkey... I hope they live out their lives on that neighbor's property. So many critters need good homes... I may rescue another pair of kittens if Z-Girl doesn't show up again, even if she does show there'll be plenty of room here for two more kitties.

It was smart to let them go to a good home! That opportunity might not be there later on! ♥️

The Princess decided yesterday was the day to purchase her freeze dryer. Picked it up at Tractor Supply and while loading it into the truck the guy helping slipped and the dryer crashed to the ground. Bummer.

Manager came out and there was no outward indication of damage but I was fiving him the look. He offered to replace it with the floor model. I agreed. My brother helped me unload at get it set in place. It is all hooked up and waiting for the 24 hour settle time.

I finished the front deck and The Princess purchased a new bench ( kit). She is pleased.

Also got a set of wheels to make it easier to move the orange tree inside or outside.

Have worked outside most of the day. It’s pretty warm out in the sun. Not too bad in the shade but came in for some water and to cool off. Trying to get everything in the ground. Wish I had a little more ambition towards it this year.
Didn’t end up going to church.
Went to folks yesterday to visit with uncle who was visiting from Utah. Good to see him. He brought some family things- bibles and books etc. One is from 1865 and I have no idea why it has come down in our family as I can’t find a link 🤔. Oh to go back in time and ask a few questions.

When I was doing a plant start up in Augusta Georgia they told us we would have to rotate shifts every week. We worked 12 hour shifts, 7-7/. Larry and I do not rotate, and told em that. Being 1 of the two people that could do the job, "we" got our way. Do not F with a contractor.

Had a productive day at work, and then the foreman told us to finish up by 11am. (That's 8 hours after Start of Shift). When we got back into the hole, the "big boss" had steak, smoked sausage, BBQ beans, macaroni salad, and (storebought) cookies waiting for us. He said it was for saying thank you, because the gang has had no injuries yet this year and we're hitting our quota pretty easily each day.

Then afterward he gave us each a Carhartt 6 pack cooler with our company logo on it. That was kind of nice.

Got most of the frame and wire up for the run. Still have one 7ft section that needs the frame and top wire. Then it's just the door and tossing the mesh over top and they're good to go. Finishing touches will be complete roof, painting the coop and fence and putting the tin around the outside. I start my first grad class tomorrow and also making a trip to the chiropractor in the morning.

I feel for ya... I once had a factory job with a rolling shift. 7-3/3-11/11-7. Hated when I was young. 4000 union steel workers complained, no one liked it. My view was... pick a shift, any shift and I'll work it. Changing every second week was nuts! About the time my body adjusted it changed again...

Knowing what I know now with cfs... learned a lot about sleep and health, one definetly affects the other as a whole. Switching is unhealthy!!! Owl shift isn't good for anyone.

Sleeping at my age is hard enough already, wouldn't want to try now.

Today I plan to do some gardening. I will pull the small weeds from my corn and tomato plants to ensure they grow healthy and strong. If I have enough time, I would like to plant some blueberry plants around the edge of the fence. However, I will have to monitor the temperature as it can get quite hot. If it becomes too uncomfortable, I will plant the blueberry plants tomorrow instead. Last Saturday, I went out in the sun and unfortunately, I got sunburned. Even today, my arms are still feeling the burning sensation. In light of this, I am being very careful about how long I stay in the sun. Luckily, my wife brought some sunscreen, so I am going to try it out and hope that it works effectively.
