Yesterday we cleaned up the rumpus room, DH vacuumed the whole house and I mopped it for the week. Also we folded up 2 loads of clean washing and put it away and remade the bed with fresh sheets. We took a load of cardboard boxes to the tip and dropped them off in the Endeavour plastic bins (they are a charity that work with disabled teens and adults to find them work), we thought it would be better for them to have it because of the good work they do for the community. We also took our old vacuum cleaner that had had it and the old TV antenna to the tip, our friend replaced it with a new one for us.
This morning round 1 is that DH stain removed some clothing, put on a load of washing and hung it on the clothes line to dry. While the load was going I was watering the canna and calla lilies, spider plants and one of the mandarin trees in the side paddock as the water filled each grey water watering can. We are in drought here so every bit of water counts to water something rather than using town water as we are on severe water restrictions here and our tank water is valuable.
I then filled up all the hand washing bottles and teeth cleaning of water and the bucket of water for washing our hands in during the day from the 25 lt water pot with tap that DH filled that we have for filling our water bottles, kettle and vegetable washing water.
Our neighbour just dropped off about 2.8 kg of cherry tomatoes, 4 cucumbers, some chinese egg plant and some string beans for us as she is overrun with them, how beautiful of her. We have organised to mow her lawn and do spraying for her in her yard as a thank you for the veges for just the cost of the spray and fuel (being $10), as she doesn't have a lawnmower or sprayer or car either. Sad story her husband died and the family walked in and took almost everything she owned as well as the house but her husband bought a block of land and organised a house to be built for her before he passed. Apart from that she is on her own and is from Thailand and speaks little English. She is a lovely lady and about our age so we will look after and out for her. After all what do good neighbours do.
DH has been making a coat and wet weather gear hanging rack on the walls from timber and varnish we had and some coat hooks we purchased. So far he has planed the ends and put on the first coat of varnish and is waiting to do the second coat this afternoon.
I have just finished washing all the tomatoes and sorted the ripe from unripe and have them drying on teatowels. When drained I will freeze the ripe ones on a tray in the freezer and portion them into meal sized portions. The unripe ones will go into a bowl to ripen and I will do the same with those.
