Having splayed issues with all of those baby turkeys. Avoided the double breasted whites because of those genetic problems. Have lost 5, and only about 4 look good. (our of 17) Yesterday saw my feed store guy who was having problems selling the last of his double breasted, so I took 5 for cheap, and a bourbon. He asked if I'd raise one out for him for Thanksgiving. Sold all the BB reds I brought back from Kansas yesterday. A little girl just fell in love with them and took all five. I'll have to get more next trip. Will be sending my favorite cousin's grandson a fifty dollar bill for them; he will be surprised, as they're not a wanted breed where he lives.
Our master bathroom has a sunken tub on an outside wall. Critters have eaten stucco and what not and got in under the tub. Then then pushed the inside wall end of the bathtub out yesterday from filling it with dirt. So dirt coming in. I walked in the bathroom this morning and there was a squirrel in there. Screamed and chased him back out. It is now heavily ductaped and garbage bagged. What a morning.

Splurged a little today but it was a necessary purchase. When I bought my car a little while back it came with snow tires on it. I didn't realize the rims were undersized for the car and the tires had a lot higher sidewall than the stock tires. So, now that winters over I shopped around and found some stock size rims and Goodyear tires on sale...$880 is a lot, but for Goodyear touring tires and brand new rims I thought it was good. It kinda looks nice too...lol

Hey, you promised to take me with shopping next time! :):)
I use a lot of corn meal because I have to eat gluten-free.

Ran to Walmart yesterday for top soil for lick tubs. Then to thrift shops for a bit. Made a chicken vegetable stir fry and then some tuna salad so I have a couple different things to eat.

Today, I cleaned bathrooms and dusted house, hard boiled some eggs. It rained most of the day, today and I took it easy-ish.

Wow. And here I am thinking livestock taxes/inspectors were a pain. I really like living in flyover country.

Even in Flyover Country, the government gets its greedy fingers into everything. We can't do much without permission from somebody. Building a garage? Gotta have a permit. Can't buy a car w/o tags, gotta have a license to drive. Federal, state, and local tax on everything. Regulations, inspections, permits...None of us are free men and women, no matter how much we like to think we are...

Maybe so but paying a sales tax on something and then having a yearly tax just because I still have it is excessive. There's a lot less of that out here.

It's rained for 2 days... haven't done crap. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, maybe I will get something done besides mopping floors and dusting. I will admit... the floors... after the power being off for 2 days last weekend... extension cords everywhere, in and out tending the generator... tracked in all sorts of crap. The floors needed a good mopping.

Today we started off the day with doing stain removing clothing and putting on one load of washing each and hanging it on the clothesline to dry. DH vacuumed all the carpets and swept the vinyl floors upstairs and down and I deep cleaned the bathrooms and toilet.

This afternoon we went to the RSL club and had our weekly date afternoon and DH and another gentleman helped pull down the gazebos from Anzac Day, fold up the tables and chairs and put them away. The President wouldn't let us pay for our soft drinks to say thank you for the help we gave him. He was not in a good way when we got there as his legs are terribly swollen from standing on his feet for so long setting up for Anzac Day so we took down some arnica cream and I showed him how to massage his legs to get rid of the fluid build up in his legs. I told him nurses orders he is to put his feet up and not move and we would handle the tidy up out the back in the court yard area.

Tonight's dinner was sandwiches as we are both still tired from the cleanup, setup, cooking and cleaning leading up to Anzac Day.

Please go.

Grandpa had zero health problems and died in his sleep at 99.

Dad had zero health problems and died in his sleep at 92.

I had my tonsils removed when I was adolescent, the only surgery I've ever had. My weight and cholesterol was within norms (19 years ago) and I haven't gained any weight since. When they take my blood pressure they usually recheck my age, pressure of a younger man. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or overeat. Why pay a Doctor to look for something wrong when there isn't anything to find? I don't base my decisions on fear.

The only reason the wife was asking because I'm her "cash cow".

I agree. Its been over 15 years since I have seen a doctor, except for Dr. Prepper of course.

Paid off a bill this morning. Yay! Will have a little extra to pay on the other one now. Went for my walk and to pick up RX at drugstore. Found out I called it in too early. That will teach me to count pills instead of just thinking I am getting low. As a prepper, I think they should fill them earlier. LOL Swept the house today and may put holes in lick tubs so I can add dirt and plant lettuce and onions. Having a little gall bladder pain so will do Hulda Clark's liver cleanse starting tomorrow. Always works well.

Personally I think we should firstly find a good doctor who knows what he or she is talking about and get a medical checkup at least once a year. I don't like going to the doctor either as I am an ex nurse but, it is much like keeping your house, garden equipment and anything else maintained, so should you take care of your health as well.

I paid another bill off this week. Feels good to cross them off as we go. Got some plants I ordered last weekend. 4 Elderberry plants of various types, and another type of blueberry. It's been hot and windy this week, so having to water all the plants I have started in pots and the new purchases till I can get them planted. Took wife to a specialist Monday, shes set up for some test and another visit for results in May. I'm hoping that ends up as nothing. I'm going for an MRI on my back Monday. It's been 20 years since my last one and it hasn't improved. Thought I should get it looked at before I get any older. Damn herniated disk at 27 has sucked the past 31 years. But other than several bouts of PT over the years it hasn't stopped me yet.

@timmie and @Amish Heart have you ever tried hot oven canning? I don't use much corn meal, but I've hot oven (hot jar canned) large quantities of rice which is similar- both grains, can both go rancid- I've been eating on the rice for two years or more and it's still 'fresh' tasting.
@TheLazyL I think it's a personal decision. Society has promoted doctors as gods. Last time I saw my Dr. I told her that I have no desire to die today but when it's my time, I'm okay with it. I also take responsibility for my health by what I eat, don't eat, do, or don't do etc. so I don't expect to eat poison and take a pill to cure it or loose weight, or sit on my duff and expect to be in shape. Do what you think is best for you.
PS I'm by no means anti-doctor, but I read not long ago that the third leading cause of death is medical error.
