Busy day. Started sorting papers and made good progress, but not done yet. Picked up grand dog, went to dog park, took grand dog to my house went to plant sale, went to get new license tags, pulled a 5 gallon bucket of weeds, mostly dandelions and some bindweed. Went to pickup client's dog, went to another dog park, was there about an hour. It was a beautiful day and the dogs had a great time, minus one aggressive dog. Went home, pulled more weeds, 3 more buckets full. More sorting.

Amish, glad to hear hubby's surgery went well. Give him my best.

Caribou, perhaps you mentioned what type of surgery you had. Cataracts? Wishing you the best. It does sound as though you are on the road to recovery.
The main issue was a floater so they removed the vitreous fluid in my eye along with the floater. They removed a film on the back of my eye, mostly to reduce possible complications, and they cleaned the back of my lens from a previous cataract surgery. This was done with needles. I hate needles and I've been putting this surgery off for years due to my phobia.

That doesn't sound like my idea of fun! I would probably put that off forever!

Glad you are finally on the right track! Not being able to see is a bummer. I'm happy as a bug in a rug after my surgery.

It's been a whirlwind of getting projects and cleaning type stuff done and some fun mixed in the last few weeks.. Yesterday after work I went up to the burn area by the small creek size river to scout out mushrooms. Gunna hit some more areas this weekend and I found plenty of areas to get river rock and landscaping rock and once the water level goes down..my gold pan will get some action this summer..so excited!! Other than that...just work. :)

Started off the morning with getting warm as it is icy cold here and just above 0 0c brrr. Once we had a few hot chocolates we went out into the gardens with warm jackets on and tightened all the bolts on the raised garden beds we put up yesterday and marked inside them with spray paint so we know where to till and remove grass from.

This afternoon we went to the RSL sub branch as DH is the treasurer and he counted the money to bank along with the RSL president so they could double check the figures, he made out the bank deposit slip. While he was doing that I cleaned all the bathroom vanity mirrors in 3 toilets and cleaned all of the bar stool metal with methylated spirits to get the grunge off them from spilled drinks etc.

Back home where we put more logs in the fire as it hasn't really warmed up all day with the arctic icy winds here. About to have nice warm showers and then we will cook two batches brownies for our Sandwich Sunday where we bring a plate to share at church and we will keep one batch of brownies for us for our weeks treats to eat at home.

Tonight's dinner will be homemade pizza.

Am up, dressed of sorts.
Least am presentable.
Going to go dig in dirt in bit over at oldest son's and his lady's house.
Turning the sand box into raised garden for them.
This is my part of the gift for Mother's day.
Taking apart one of my old raised beds that won't be using here to there.
To make he higher to hopefully slow that dog down. Doubtful though.
Then will haul 5 gallon buckets of dirt over there to use too.
Going tomorrow and get Petunias for the flower pots at parents house.
Putting color on the back patio so it's not so blah.
Trying to talk dad into raised beds like mine under the windows so when he sits at the table he can see color.
No luck so far, but Father's day is coming too.
Maybe my youngest sister can talk him into them.
Have to go over and pick up papers today for the week.
Dad has terraced (poorly terraced) beds in the back patio, but they're not safe.
They are also full of poison ivy, oak and sumac something I learned the hard way last summer I still have allergy too.
Sitting here sipping coffee, resting.
Still have my headache, barometric pressure is still dropping.
80% chance of thunderstorms today.
My question of the day is the following:
Do I really want to go dig in dirt with that gigantic puppy trying to knock me over?
Or do I want to stay home, read, crochet, relax?
But this was the deal my son and I agreed on I would help him turn the sand box into a garden for them.
Not only will I have to deal gigantic puppy, but 3 or 4 little kids trying to help Granny too.
I will see if I can picture of the puppy.
Oh, I'm suppose to bring Strawberry too.
6 month old Zeus and 23 month old grandaughter

Took care of animals, round one. Made husband breakfast, grandson off to a hike. Went to one pharmacy for a pickup, into work for a half an hour, post office, got gas, grocery shopping, and the second pharmacy. Back home and made husband lunch. Granddaughter stayed with him while I was gone. Totally tired, and have a million things to do.

got a early start on chores since I couldn't sleep in much but I feel good..
mowed, walked dog to pond for a swimmy
weedwacked and got back yard nice and organized...
break time and now hit the burn for mushroom scouting and a lil gold panning...I need some shade for a few hours before I get busy again later..whew hew!

Went into town for a periodic shop til we drop excursion for all the bulk stuff we can’t get locally. No screaming deals just a monthly or so requirement. Picked up a few dollarama paracord bracelets with a small cutting edge, a tiny but functional ferro road and an all but useless bubble compass. They cost me less than I pay for the buckles normally. My grandkids are always eyeing mine so will end up with these ones. At least they have some cordage and can start a fire.

I spent the day re-cleaning and re-drying my K&N air filter. I followed the instructions when applying the special oil provided in and aerosol can. Evidently the instructions are worded poorly. My truck wouldn't even start, the engine wasn't getting any air through the filter. This is the 3rd time I've cleaned this filter... next time it needs cleaning I'll just buy a new one.

Amish Heart,
You won't be any good to anyone if you get down too.
Nothing says you can't delegate some of the animal chores to grandkids.
It builds character.
Oh wait I forgot those two are characters enough.
Get some rest if you can.
Have grandkids make dinner and clean up dinner mess.

Ha. Grandkids making dinner. We would be served a tortilla with an inch of melted cheese on it. That's their go to.
I rested for an hour. Felt better, mopped and vacuumed, hung some more laundry. Satisfied enough with today.
I believe son is coming over to butcher tomorrow...a couple of turkeys, a duck, 3 rooster and 5 rabbits. Anyway, I hope he is. Kids can help with that. I'm sure I'll be doing the turkeys, they take awhile. I'll pass on the rabbits.

Strawberry has been ill today.
She has been stumbling around.
Like she is drunk, but I don't give her alcohol.
She acts like her hip and leg hurts.
She was crying in pain this morning.
So I stayed home with her.
She has had extra love, petting, and cuddles today.
No extra snacks though.
Next week taking her to vet for complete body scan to see if we can figure out what's wrong with her.
She favors one leg anyway time for the vet to get involved.

Went to church this morning and had a lovely day and stayed for sandwich Sunday where we bought along a homemade batch of double choc brownies to share.

Back home now where DH is having a nap. Not much else happening tonight except for maybe washing the dishes and folding two loads of clean washing for the day. It is a day of rest for us here.

Haven't even been on computer for the last 3 days. Rain, lightening and thunder! Today was nice-- Church this morning, came home and set up vitamins for the next month. No cooking or much anything else today. Just made a salad with baked chicken in it for dinner.

Today was all about tidying up needed things around the home and we also redid the budget now we have a definite figure on what our land rates and water rates charges will be now the council has both blocks on their records as being amalgamated. Turns out fortunately to be a lot less than we first thought and reduces our land rates by $715 a year and our water charges by $180 per year. Indeed a good saving and well worth us amalgamating the two blocks of land into 1 large block even though we have put that extra into our bills account anyway. Now we can use the extra money put away in our bills account to put in our roof insulation batts and still have a lot to spare which we will leave in there.

We started off with swapping over our summer wardrobe for a winter wardrobe and putting the summer items in vacuum seal bags. Once that was done we folded up two loads of washing and put it way. Then I swept the kitchen floor and cleaned up grungy bits of the vinyl with the floor cloth and then onto washing up the dirty dishes, cleaning the benches and I wiped them and put them away.

This afternoon I put on a load of dark clothes in the washing machine and hung them on the clothes line to dry. DH started to dig a trench under the back path so we can put in our drip irrigation system to two above ground garden beds, trench composted our vegetable scraps in some of the dirt we will put in the raised garden beds when they are set up. I watered all of the canna lilies and DH watered the canna and spider plants with grey water from our washing machine washing grey water.

Tonight I will make out our grocery shopping list and dinner will be an easy one of smoked oysters and sour cream on crackers.

Walking and animal chores done. Laundry well under way. Eggs hard boiled for a few days, have to make oatmeal for dog's food, yellow rice for DH to go with leftover red beans. Will make Olive Garden Chicken in the Instant Pot later and since I have home made yellow rice seasoning, I will try it on riced cauliflower and see if I like it. Doing some eBay later.

@LadyLocust the two levels are similar except a lazer level is for longer distances for levels for a line such as fences etc, the spirit level is usually a piece of wood, metal or plastic with a liquid level in it with marks on it and when the bubble is in the middle you know that it is straight by putting it on top or beside what you are trying to have straight.

Here is a picture of a spirit level so you can see what they look like -

There is another type of spirit level that I have used to make a level concrete foundation and that's a garden hose with a clear plastic short piece of hose screwed on each end, filled with water and the clear pieces marked with tape or a felt pen, once you get one end staked to the level you want all you have to do is walk the other end around to check the level of the foundation, this really is a poor mans lazer level or a site level, forgot the technical name of those since it's been so long that I've used one, yeah getting older is the pits.

Attended another class on how to make someone angrier than he was Friday morning.
My American Legion commander has now instructed everyone in the post not to talk to me.
It would have been simpler just to answer my 10 yes or no questions.
But no he has to make the statement in front of County Comissioners that I will never get the 10 questions answered.
So I called the gentlemen who asked me to look into Land Lease fraud(I served with him active duty in Kentucky at Fort Campbell).
Played the recorded conversation, he made the call the Missouri Governor's office for the documents needed.
Now my American Legion Commander can answer the questions of 5 more personnel working for this family on Land Lease Fraud.
We 6 are all former military police officers whom have served with one of the 6 officers in this particular family while on active duty.
It would have been so much easier to just answer my 10 simple yes or no questions.
Been digging in the dirt this afternoon, getting ready to move it over to son's house along with older raised bed to redo the sand box into
a 4ft x4ft garden for them.
Supper will be chips and salsa.
Tomorrow will be chicken thighs, rice, dinner salad.
Made a pitcher of ice tea this morning drinking on it right now.
Started another class this afternoon it's one of those fun classes.
This class I started this afternoon seems like have taken something similar earlier this year.
Oh well, it's free.
Never did find picture of Zeus and Grand daughter but will keep looking.
I keep thinking I have downloaded it, but then I can't find it.
