I know I have probably asked before but don't remember the answer.
What is eBay?

Sometimes, we sell a few items online. Ebay is a website/ market place. Kind of like Etsy or Craig's List if you have heard of them.
 
I've sold a few things on ebay a few years ago.i need to start doing that again.good money can be made from that.
I have made some money from ebay. For many years they had a used book bookstore called half.com. They closed it about a year ago. I sold 100's of used books there over the years. I started by going through my books and listing the ones I didn't want. Then I started picking up free books listed on Craigslist. I sold books for as little as 75 cents and up to $100's. I did sell one set of legal books in the $1000's that I acquired for free from a listing on Craigslist. You get reimbursed for shipping, depending upon what they knew to be the weight. I often made money relative to the shipping, sometimes just pennies, but when you are shipping out a bunch of books, it adds up.
I have now shifted all my book listings to Amazon, but I am not working my book business like I used to, so my sales are nothing like they once were.

@MoBookworm1957, Suppose you have something rare and unusual that nobody near you wants but you don't want to throw it away.
That's what Ebay is for.
These are extinct and no replacement is available. I had 2 sets hanging in my attic:

The people that bought them from me were peeing their pants with glee:woo hoo:.
Without one, they would be stuck with a 300-pound paperweight, forever:eek:.
 
Update: as some of you know I have been ill for awhile.
Neurologist and I came up with game plan to finally figure out what is and isn't wrong with me.
Here we go:
1. I am Not diabetic, nor have I ever been diabetic -blood work finally set that myth to rest.
I just eat like a diabetic, dad and 2 sisters are diabetic.
2.There is nothing wrong with my thyroid.
3. It's official I now wear size 12-14 tops and pants, just a pound short of my weight loss goal this year.
165 pounds. great weight loss from 425 pounds, size 26- 10 years ago.
4. Now on to second weight loss goal of 155 pounds middle of my Army weight.
5. Final weight loss goal is the low end of my Army weight 0f 135-145 pounds size 10.
As I have slowly lost the weight my shoe sizes have been dropping also.
Shopping for shoes in the big kid department again. look out Buster Brown here I come again.
I now wear size 4-6 shoe.
6.I have an irregular heartbeat.
7. Blood pressure has dropped from 297/197 to 123/97 in 10 years, so primary care doctor cut blood pressure medicine in half.
8.Will start training for 5k's again with cardiologist, neurologist, primary care and orthopedic surgeon okay.
Will slowly work on getting my steps back up 10000 daily.
9. I do Not have Parkinson's .
10.I have Rheumatoid arthritis.
11. I am depressed, see the shrink on Monday.
We tried it my way for several years, now we'll try it his way for awhile.
12. I am not Bipolar.
13. I do have Sleep apnea.
14. Need to come up with sleep schedule that works for me.
15. do have short term memory loss.
Got new excercises for that.
Feels like tremendous weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I was looking for your other post about your weight loss and am not sure where it is. I am curious what your weight loss strategy is and how you lost around 260 pounds.
 
anyone know of a good site to learn the price of old money? i have some old currency that use to be my mom's it's high time i sold it.
The price can vary so greatly due to condition or demand, there isn't really a "Blue-Book" online.
Even if there was, it wouldn't be useful because there are so many years, denominations, types, versions, etc.
The best you can do is check completed auctions on ebay to see what one like you have actually sold for.
For example, a $5 silver certificate bill can be worth anywhere from face value ($5) to $120.
You can buy plenty of them in great condition for $12 each or less.
 
Mowed all morning. We have no lawn. It is all crushed rock around and between the buildings. The rest of our property is just un-used raw land. I mow some to keep the weeds at bay but is it very rough. I use a two-wheeled string trimmer.
This afternoon I went hiking. Checked the Banana Yucca but they were not yet ripe.
 
@MoBookworm1957 you have done so well in your weight loss and it is good you have goals, well done.

I am about 132 lbs and almost 5'7" tall and it appears I have lost 3/4's inch in height somehow as I have gotten more childlike :) . I have a medical condition (high heart rate and thyroid issues) that prevents me from putting on weight although I have managed to eek a few kg's back on my frame and am a size 10 - 12 Australian. About 5 years ago I was 48 kg or 105 lbs so I have progressed a bit.

I have a high heart rate...sometimes....when I see a hot car:D:

@jimLE you might just type into Google search what you have. There are sites that specialize in certain things. When both my g-parents had passed, we found "several" coins and monies. Some were worth more than others, and my uncle is pretty savvy in old anything. There are "gold and coin" dealers and sometimes jewelers who can be helpful in letting you know what you have (even if in paper form.). Hope that helps.
 
Went to an auction this morning..they had a portable building I was interested in...lots of items, could not believe some of the LOW prices...a nice refrig went for $12.50, an upright freezer for $20, very low prices on most items sold...and YES...I got the building...now I need to arrange to have it moved...my sweet renters have 5 little ones,and it is so needed for an extra bedroom..the building was completely finished inside, came with two beds, small table and chairs, and an AC/heater unit as well....about 12 ft x 15, need to measure it...got four boxes of sheets for $1...bought me some new pans for cooking...got home and they are Revere ware...got them for $1 to $3 ….I feel blessed today....
 
Started off the morning with some scripture study with DH other than that we have just relaxed for the day being Sunday. I did water the potted herbs and fruit trees and set the grey water off from the grey water tank to water the mandarin tree in the paddock and fed the cat.

Tonight's dinner is a beef mince stir fry with homegrown sweet potato and silverbeet on top of fine spaghetti.
 
The only plans my family and I have for today is to attend our life groups and then church services, then at some point we are going to watch a movie in the home theater. The movies we have in the 'waiting to be seen' file are "12" a baseball movie, "Secret Life of Pets 2" a cartoon, and the live action "Dumbo". So I am hoping we go with "12".

And in case you don't know, a life group is a group of people who attend our church (we do not have members) who fit into a similar demographic as we do. As in a married couple with multiple children who work outside of the home. We get together to discuss things like life, marriage, family, children, money, etc. in the context of Christ Jesus and the new covenant of Grace. We also explore how church traditions and organizational preferences often replace truth and scripture. There are about 20-24 people in our life group and my wife and I are the group leaders. Our kids also have life groups but those are lead by college age volunteers. We meet twice a week on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
 
Heading up the mountain to tend to the yard. The blackberries are on and last week the plums were close so we are taking buckets and baskets to hopefully gather some fruit. Fall bear season is open so we are prepared in that respect as well.

Our Internet went down Saturday evening. Testing tells me it's either our DSL modem or the telephone cabinet at the intersection that provides us with Internet. Monday I'll take the DSL modem to the telephone company for testing. If it isn't the modem then I'll ask them to put in a trouble ticket. I'm figuring why ruin the on call tech's weekend!

Sunday morning Internet is still down. Church and then take the wife out for lunch. Home and Internet is back up. Guessing other customers called in to complain and a Tech's Sunday morning was ruined after all.

I think it's under fitness.
As for my weight loss strategy it was simple.
I changed my plate size.
Most dinner plates are 12-14 inches, I just went 10 inch plate size.
Now I use a plate little bit bigger than bread plate, 8 inch plate.
Use the same formula for meat, vegetables, but cut out most breads, pastas.
Quit eating most processed foods, make my own bread, pasta, sauces.
Some days it's a pain in rear, but over all it's better for me.
When I started looking up and really reading ingredients of labels I didn't like what I saw.
So I changed my eating habits to suit me better.
Now instead of having 8 ounce steak, I have 4 ounces and save the other half for fajatias, stir fry, roast.
Still eat a cup of vegetable pretty much every meal, leftover vegetables get put in container for making soup.
I eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and drink about 96 ounces of lemon, lime, orange water a day.
Pretty much gave up soda even diet, rather have unsweet tea or coffee.
I don't cook with sugar or salt. But use plenty of fresh ground peppers medleys.
I try to walk about 10000 steps a day, don't always make it, but I put forth the effort.

Weedy I started eating out of bread or saucer size plates years ago and I eat several times a day.
It worked for me so much did I not only lose weight but now trying to gain a little back.
I pretty much eat whatever I want to not much into meats but do eat some.
 
We just got back from Atlanta Ga. visiting family. Nice visit except for my granddaughter is driving her mam nuts doing drugs.
I have 6 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. Out of all of them 2 of the girls are on drugs,one in prison. All the others work and one 14 y.o. is still at home.
But this one is 30 with 4 kids and drives around messed up with those 4 kids in the car. Her mama ha already spent $12,000 on her this year car, washer ,dryers,rent, dentist, food, etc,etc,etc,.
I told my daughter to call the police in her town when she is takign the kids to school or nursury and let them lock her up before she injures or worse one of the kids or herself. She was real messed up when we saw her riding around Atlanta with psycho drivers everywhere!!. :ghostly:
Otherwise it was a good trip and got to see all the Georgia family.
We didn't stay in the tent, stayed in the MIL suite.

I have a school classmate who was always stunningly gorgeous who looks like she still weighs the same as she did in h.s. She said she maintains her weight by eating every couple hours, but not a whole meal. It might be a piece of fruit, or something smaller. It works for both of you. I will have to try it.
