Computer store called and my laptop was working again. There was a setting that the update changed. They told me it was an easy fix, and charged me $15. I expected to pay much more than that. Now I am back online and working on genealogy. In August, I took a now defunct laptop in to have the hard drive saved to an external hard drive. It was there for more than 2 weeks. The store I went to this time is a sister store, but not nearly as busy. I was in the area when I took my laptop in. I asked about when it started taking so long to get computers serviced. They told me right before school starts in the fall and right before tax season is when people need their computers tuned up, repaired, or whatever they need.

I have also learned that summer is not a good time to have a car worked on. My local mechanics had a week to 10 day delay to work on my car this summer. They said they are not as busy other times of the year.

Already walked, did laundry, eBay photos and wrote one draft, washed one dog. Later this afternoon, I will make pumpkin applesauce in the roaster. Have 10 pounds of apples and as much pumpkin as I want to use. Will let it cook overnight and can it tomorrow morning.

We are dealing with a new mortgage company that bought our mortgage recently. They decided we need flood insurance although our residence is not in a flood zone, just that back of the property. We could only buy the house if the insurance was waived and this is the 3rd company to buy it and the first to have a problem. We went right to the local bank where it was first originated and they sent the new company original flood certs and maps. We are waiting now for their response and wondering how God will work this out. So glad that I have all paperwork from closing! I will update when I can.

We had that problem when we bought our farm. Part of the 23 acres is in a flood zone. The part is where the 100 yr old barn and milkhouse stand. The rest of the place, the farmhouse, the other 8 outbuildings are not in the floodzone. So, we had it divided. Bought the floodzone area for a buck or two, no need for insurance because there was no mortgage on it. The floodzone area was paid in full. Then we paid full price for the rest, and the rest wasn't in floodzone, so that's what the mortgage was on. Since then, we've paid it off. We haven't adjusted our insurance since we paid it off, because we won't be there full time till this summer. Then we will probably drop the insurance altogether.
Been doing laundry, housecleaning, going to the post office chores today. Still need to mop the floors and work a little out back. Trying to get a lot done today, as tomorrow I'll be under the drill for almost two hours.
Husband sent an email off to CPS California and copied everyone involved with our granddaughter. This morning, the foster parents sent off an email supporting us. No replies yet.

Today was drop off day.
First drop off was the blankets for Crochet Across America for Veterans.
Beings I had already gave away some of the blankets to Veterans in need.
That was 10, I think, Today, I dropped off 16 more this morning.
Second drop off was to local business that was having coats, hats, gloves, scarves drive.
Dropped off 6 coats, 6 sets of hats, scarves and gloves set there.
Have opened up more space in my closet now for other things.
Third drop off was the reading round robin I belong too.
Dropped off 2 grocery sacks of romance novels there.
Told the Merry Widows I would be leaving the group.
Unless they could find some people who read what I do.
And it's not romance, give me blood, guts, sex, violence, and mayhem any day of the week over
romance
Sitting here sipping coffee, armed with seam ripper ripping out hem I had put in.
Bummer..

All of y'all make me feel guilty.
Y'all are so active and busy doing chores.

I can't do "doodlysquat " as granny in Outlaw Josey Wales said .

Just sitting in the recliner today.
Wife went to town , picked up a few last minute items.

I had my 6 eggs, slice of country ham, 16 oz of milk, quart of coffee.
Then I had a Muscle Milk, 1/2 protein bar, a chicken breast and 2 wings.

Figger about 140g of protein today so far.

Same plans tomorrow , then Wednesday is the day.

Jim,
Don't worry about it.
I'm just glad I found my kitchen table again.
All that stuff that was in piles everywhere is gone for the time being.
Besides I will be where you are right now soon enough too.
Surgeon moved up my surgery date another 9 days.
Right knee gave out in his waiting room 2 weeks ago.

How did you get a time slot?

I still only know the day.
I just called my doctor's office , they said they don't know yet.
They said hospital sets that.
I asked the hospital registration last week, they said doctors office sets that.:dunno:

She said they would call me tomorrow afternoon with a time to be there. Oh well

@snappy1 ,
Could it be time to shop for a new mortgage at a lower rate.

Rates are lower right now.

Refinance may be your answer and save you some money.

I did that many years ago and saved a bunch of money.

Jim

The Branch manager of the original bank said we can have it sent back to the previous mortgage holder since they had no problem with it. I have never heard of that. We are going in to the bank tomorrow afternoon to call the new company and will hopefully find out more. We have 3.5 now. Not sure what they are now but will find out!

We were going to have the back surveyed out and gifted to us but the original company just waived the flood insurance. Not sure if we can do that now since there is a mortgage or not, probably not. Should know something tomorrow.

Got dad his last pill just after midnight last night, hoped he'd sleep all night… then back up at 3am… then 4… then 6… He had a pretty good day until a “nosey negative” whispered in his ear sometime between 8 and noon, convinced him he was doing terribly and must immediately have drastic measures...

My borderline hypochondriac niece who has seen dad a total 12 minutes in the last 3 days got together with my mom who is still in the hospital and hasn’t seen dad at all since last Friday… they decided from observing dad "sooo" closely that he needed some kind of nerve block for pain. Further… they moved up his appointment to see his GP.

I agree completely that he needs stronger pain meds, no problem with moving up the appointment. An 85yrold man needs a nerve block for a kidney infection and an inflamed lower back nerve? o_O

My niece is upset that dad isn't completely healed after a week even thought it took him a couple of months to get to this state in which she bears a large portion of the responsibility.

Also... they don’t realize is that my general practitioner is also my dad’s. His family still raises cattle a few miles up the road from us. In other words, a country boy who doesn’t fall for BS, not his first rodeo.

So, I’m off early in the morning, Doc Jimmy will know what’s best.;)

Finally got the bottom of my front door cut to fit properly to the new threshold I had to install. I only had to pull the door off the hinges twice, sort of a pain to do by yourself. I got one of the two new shelves I’m putting in the tool room properly mounted to the cinderblock wall. I ran out of anchors or I'd have finished today.

I’m tired, just hope dad sleeps the night through. I need a good nights sleep myself! :)

I almost always get a time slot when I schedule surgeries now.
After the tissy fit I threw on the right elbow surgery.
They told me to be there at 0600 hours, but didn't operate until 3pm.
No food, water, coffee makes me very unhappy.
Sometimes I get bumped for Heart attacks, emergency c-sections, but not often anymore.

Ok , that's why , because the hospital I go to has a bunch of operating rooms , and my surgeon only does arthritic knee and hip replacement.
Orthopedics have their own designated operating rooms .

I just can't understand why the last minute timing.

I've had the date for months.

I have had my date since July when it was a year on the left knee surgery.
Didn't have time till two weeks ago when my knee gave out in surgeon's office.

Went DH started off the morning with stain removing some clothing and we hung it on the clothes line. Then in to town today to DH's psychology appointment and that went well and I am seeing how complexly DH thinks due to his PTSD and what triggers him, very interesting. The coping mechanisms taught seem to be helping him cope a lot better than he used to.

We then went and stopped off at one small supermarket and picked up some discounted mushrooms and then to the hardware store to pick up some garden seeds. Stopped then to have some lunch paid with DH's DVA meal allowance. Once we had lunch we went and looked around Woolworths and picked up some in season fruit and some discounted bread rolls and then picked up our click and collect order for our fortnight's groceries.

Headed back home and we have unpacked, dated and rotated groceries and put them away.

Today at about 6:30 , I was woke up by a loud gunshot.

So I knew my friend was back hunting again, got up looked out by the shop and seen him leaning on his truck.

So I walked out to chat.

Then I seen a big buck laying under the tree. 14 point .

He got him one.

Thanks @Sentry18 At least we know he's "about."
@phideaux Good luck and big prayers Jim. Hope it is exceedingly boring for the dr. and that you recover in record time!
@Sewingcreations15 So glad meetings are helping hubby. Probably much relieved by the difference as well.
