Home with the kids for MLK jr Day. Not sure why there is no school today but the kids don't care and I guess I don't either. It's a comfortable 5 degrees here, so perfect weather to do some cleaning in the garage and clean off some ice & snow on the patio. Then I spent some time in the man cave wiping down and oiling guns that haven't seen the light of day in awhile. I also fitted a new "True" barrel in my Performance Center Shield 9mm which is going to become the wife's PC Shield 9mm.

Had to deal with 2 dead chickens and an owl this morning. At least I won't have to worry about the owl coming back, the dogs saw to that. They were very upset because they love their "pets".

Spent the rest of the day splitting/stacking wood and picking up the place a bit.

Not good news at eye doctors office this morning. I never thought or beleived them about the " instant cataract BS and new eye doc I went o day and told him very nicely " when he started asking questions all I wanted was secong opnion not more questions".
After a couple hours of lots of test. He said my sight will never return because its not cataracts it was a stroke and I' partially blind there is no cure. Set me up with speicalist opthomologist ,cadiologist and neurologist being the main one he wants me to see first.
I went to fire dept BP was 215/ 117 told me to get in ambulnce or hubby take me er . Went to ER was 243/117and it was so full no room. So sat in waiting room then left came home and took BP med HTZ.
seems they could have done a IV right then and there to bring it down so I left to get home to my meds which I stopped taking last month.

I’m so sorry Meerkat! Sending you so many healing thoughts and big hugs! Keep your chin up!

Thank you Double R. I don't have much of a choice but keep chinup.

I got BP down to 199?106 a couple hours ago. ErDoc said ' he didn't want to bring it down too fast or it would cause more problem than high. The hospital was full in er and upstairs and peopel were wlaking around with mask on. So not knowing what was going on we left. Dr was amitting me when bed was available so I left after a xouple hours.

Got to work today and found out there was a big derailment up in Buford, Wyoming, about 25 miles west of Cheyenne. Guess which track gang is the closest one available to go fix the aftermath? Yup, my gang...spent the day loading machines back on the equipment train. We're getting the day off tomorrow, and then we have 6 more days off, and show up in Buford on the 27th. A contracted rail service that specializes in derailments will put it back together enough to run trains slowly, and we'll finish it off.

Problem is, Buford is at 8000 feet, at the top of a mountain pass, in Wyoming, in late January. The conditions are going to be cold, with chances of butt-cold, and gusts of freezing our butts off...

yikes! Hopefully you get it under control. I don’t have a lot of luck at the hospital myself. Yes all we can do is keep that chin up.

No fever today but mom needed prescriptions picked up a wally's. I did not want to go to town but there was no one else. Turns out I needed one filled also... oh well.

Dad didn't have a good day, wish I could go down there. I spoke with a distant cousin this afternoon who hadn'd heard about dad. She's going to alert her branch of the family. People stopping to visit would cheer up dad.

Anyway, didn't sleep last night... hopefully tonight.

Yikes!!! I was actually thinking about you the other day. They were on a cool “train” changing out ties. Sat and watched for quite a while. All the guys looked to be enjoying their work. A few days prior they had a semi (I’d never seen one on tracks before) pulling a car with a big grapple (not sure the right term) picking up new ties and setting them down beside the tracks. Was pretty fun to watch too.

@Double R the train thing you saw changing ties might have been an "SPF" machine. It's something relatively new and they're still working the bugs out of them. I've never heard anyone say that railroaders look like we're enjoying our work before. Railroaders are the whiningest, complainingest bunch of crabby old farts you ever saw! :D We make the Old Betty's at the coffee club look like the Sunshine Girls!

The truck you saw was called a Brandt truck. It's an awesome piece of machinery. You have to be qualified to run a locomotive to drive one. My gang has one assigned to us to lay out all the new ties we put in.

Ok now that has me laughing soooo hard!! These guys were puttin on a show for us then :ballet:
I miss my days of driving truck. Big engines are sooooo cool!!!
Funniest part was the guy poking his head out of the sunroof of the cab watching in front and almost missing the line above. Looked like a squirrel who saw a hawk
