@Rebecca I haven't seen many posts on here so we might just be nosing in different threads. But I guess I'll "invite" you to this thread, and ask if you have ever seen Natalie MacMasters in concert? She is an incredible fiddlest! She has 5 kids so doesn't tour too far from home.

Urban, I think you should have Mrs Urban go in before they sprout and move them all around. Then it doesn't matter what you think is where because it won't be. And as a special bonus, you will get to test your plant identification skills 😇 I use eggshells for seed cups: write on the shell. When it is time to transplant, just crunch the shell and put it all in the hole. In the garden, I use railroad spikes for markers. I paint "beans" "corn" etc on the top. Just be sure to pull them before you rototill.
Mrs. Urban would love to, except she hasn't been able to do the stairs for over 10 years (She has several cronic illnesses including End State Congestive Heart Failure and Charcot Foot). This makes it difficult for her because the laundry and main storage areas are in the basement, I do inventories to tell her what we have. This is why having a fully stocked "working" pantry in the kitchen that is easy to reach is so important for her.

I made shelves for her african violets at the front window, that's her gardening. She can look out the kitchen window and tell me what needs to be done in the garden outside(but she can't get to it). She likes it when she tells me what Herb she needs and I can bring up the #10 can and let her pick what she wants.

I keep reusing my starter cups and plant labels, but I find putting the plant name on them limits their usefulness. I cut my lables in half so if I use one of those seed starter trays with a lid they can stay with the plant under the lid....

EARLY This morning I woke up to a charlie horse in my right leg.... after dancing myself down the hall I sat down at the computer and looked at my list of seed "holes", hello burpee, no more holes.

Ordered some African Violet soil and other gardenie things that I havn't been abe to find locally.

Went on-line to CostCo, discovered "no more online orders of TP for the rest of the year", I guess my making 2 orders a week for a couple of months wasn't a mistake ;)

Went to HD at 06:00 and picked up a few Homer Buckets, half as many lids.....

We had a friend that always had a really big garden. He decided to grow only in 5 gallon buckets one year, and he had a good harvest. I would try those potatoes. This time last year, the room off of our kitchen was full of normally outdoor plant food.
Not sure what's up today. Yesterday was mom's day, her 88th. Tried to order more nicorette gum online from Sams, where I usually get it, and they said it's out, unless I come in the store. I think it's like your Costco TP, Urban. They just want you in the store. Maybe will have to go there today. Kids have (home) school, there is house cleaning to be done, as friends from NM are coming in tomorrow for a few days. The guy digging the basement should be here in about an hour.

Hope all your family and friends stay well and safe. Enjoy your mom, time is so valuable.

So when you are trying to polinate your flowers with a brush, should you be saying "buzzzzzz Buzzzzz"?

When I see the "not available/sold out" the prepper in me starts thinking, Okay people have not been working to replenish stocks, who has been gathering seeds for next year, when the grocery store shelves start emptying what are people going to turn to? I think if we wait, seeds and things to make food will be depleted worse than last year. I think if you are shopping at places like ACE, or Walmart and see canning supplies, you would be foolish to walk buy without getting what you think you will need this coming summer...

My poor wife, who has not been out more than once a month since March, says, "I don't understand what you are talking about, what's the big deal, why is it hard to get things, it will be better soon, right?" I know lots of people who have shifted their eating to fast food but even burger and pizza places have to get their stuff from someplace. The day MickeyD's says, sorry we are out of Hamburger will be the day that everyone's hair spontaneously combusts as people turn rabid.

i get really, really ticked when I see out of stock. Husband is seeing his fav brand of kleenex out of stock. We do have 5 cases in the basement. He freaks about his kleenex, as I do my nicorette. So today we are going to the city to the Sams, after a discussion five minutes ago. And he is thinking we should bring in my bike for an overhaul and also get the three wheel recumbent bike he was looking at yesterday. Kids are saying, "meh, online school", and counting the days till they're out of quarantine (five more days). I got two calls from the Dept of Health tracer people yesterday, asking if I'm keeping them in and asking if they have symptoms. Said that they would be checking in on Monday and Wednesday, too. We are not "keeping them in", just keeping them on the farm. There's plenty to do out here.

Urban what is a Homer Bucket?

Orange 5 gallon plastic bucket Home Depot sells with their name on them. Lowes sells blue one, tractor Supply Red ones.

Oh~ I should have known hat sine we use the Loews blue buckets for hydro, the white ones let in too much light which caused green algae not that it hurt just liked the white roots clear water better.:Thankyou::thumbs:

Sorting brass looking for 500 pieces of "Lake City". Son #1 is experimenting with 300 Blackout. Since I have 75% of the equipment on hand, I'll convert some 5.56 brass to 300 Blackout and reload a batch of different loads for him to try. Are they making the headstamp printing smaller or do I need a magnifying glass?

I've had potatoes start growing indoors in the potato bin when left too long. LOL. Maybe it's partially bc I'm in a humid climate though. I'll have to post a photo of my potato bin. A late elderly friend made it for us out of oak & used clover perforated brass screen for the doors.

I like Amish_Heart's suggestion with popsicle sticks. Now I want some popsicles. They have some lime ones that are mostly real fruit juice that I used to get. They coated the inside of the freezer when power was out though.

I wish I could train the raccoons. Or the dogs or the cats. LOL. One of the dogs I suspect belonged to an elderly person or couple who I assume either died or was sent to a nursing home & the family just dumped her and her puppies. She'd been well-groomed & cared for, but nobody claimed her when we posted her picture & asked if anyone knew her owner. She waits for me to go through doorways & usually waits for permission to walk through the doors after-- except when she's super excited & forgets & wants to rush after something. She whines and runs to the door then back to me over and over when she wants me to open a door for her. My cats & dogs get along pretty well but the raccoons are upsetting them both. They got into the coffee grounds last night & dumped them all over the floor.

I just took my daily meds & am waiting to be able to eat-- 45min wait after eating thyroid meds. I'm also waiting for my brother to finish his gaming so we can go to Samsclub. Need more water and cat food. Might grab tp if they have it but it's not urgent. Hoping they have allergy meds there so I don't have to go to Walmart too.

I keep forgetting to change the Hvac filters so I really need to do that today. Probably will do it in a few minutes. I need to figure out where the hell I put the vacuum & find a port to run the vacuum to clean the inside of the grille for the hvac circulation compartment. Probably need to vacuum inside it a bit as well. Need to get a new charging cord for the dustbuster or buy a new one bc the raccoons chewed through the cord & I mistakenly threw out one end not realizing what it was.

So evidently some (enter your best not-nice word here) got a hold of my business debit card number. Luckily, I balance that account almost daily so caught it/them pretty quickly - $150 in 2 charges. One of the last places I used the card was walmart which was also one of the 2 bogus charges to our account. Have I ever expressed my opinion of dishonest people
Note: I always take my receipt, I don't share my pin, and like I said, check it almost daily.

Sams Club run, and it took a while since it's no where near where we live. But added more to the stockpile, and they had some decent beef deals that didn't break the bank too bad. Husband is wanting to go look at a new chainsaw. I want to stop at our local feed and grain for more chicken feed. One of our daughters is thinking of coming in for Thanksgiving and bringing some strange friend from Boston that has camped out with her for a month. And of course, the old man cat. The friend is a gay guy, 22 yrs old, and has never been out of the city. If I have to feed him for awhile, I will show him some more outbuildings that need to be worked on. And we have a good 50 roosters to do before Christmas. Other friends coming in for a few nights from New Mexico tomorrow. The bulldozer is here digging a basement. Hoping the house doesn't fall over ha ha.

She is amazing! But no I haven't seen her in concert unfortunately. They days when I did concerts I was after a different type of music lol, and now when I appreciate artists like her more I can't stand the crowds.
I guess I haven't posted on here because I really don't do anything fascinating most of the time. Like today I spent most of the short daylight hours cutting more mulch and putting on my raised garden beds, I have a lot of raised beds! I decided rather late in the season that I wanted to add more mulch now so I'm not under pressure at planting time in spring.

Got to go out a check the raised beds before it got dark, am interested in how thing are doing now that my slugs have all died an untimely death :devil:and we have had 3 nights of solid freezes ❄. The carrots are all happy, trying to grow out the seems of the lid, I picked a hand full that were crowding some beets. Then checked the two salad boxes, the lettuce in both has sprung back to life and I am seeing lots of spinach sprouts:) the onions and parsley are also doing well. I weeded for a bit, thinned out the parsley and came in happy. I think I will have enough small spinach plants that I can transplant a bunch of them into the box with the concrete mixing tubs or the hydroponics... They will grow slowly out in the covered boxes all winter, but if I bring in (transplant) a couple from time to time I can harvest them till spring.... I had 4 potatoes (3 red 1 russet) that looked like the eyes were starting to grow, so I fixed them up in HomeDepot (Homer) 5 gallon buckets, we will see.

I have been volunteered to do some church work on saturday afternoon, so I will not be getting much of the stuff I had planned done 🙁.

On a COVID note, my wife was talking to her sister and they are having trouble getting BIL's O2 up (it was at 80) they said he is a mouth breather and is fighting the supplimental O2 line... I remembered that before my sister died of COPD she would suck on the O2 line. I suggested that he try that, withen 5 minutes his O2 was at 88. It's funny how as we go through life we can be exposed to things that can help others in unexpected ways.

Have a great weekend before Thanks Giving!

Urban

Good suggestion @UrbanHunter ! My DH has COPD so I will keep that in mind.

Did my walk this morning, fed and walked dogs.
Cooked black eyed peas in slow cooker.
Made Hot Water Cornbread
Cut some greens for neighbor.
Did put up Christmas tree yesterday, added a few decorations to house today. Oreo is leaving the tree alone. Yay!
Our friends came over around lunch time and ate with us.
Made more cornbread later and will soak more beans--or do split peas-- tomorrow night. Want enough to last until Wednesday.

I'm not much on crowds either :)
Life doesn't always have to be edge of the seat (I actually prefer when it isn't.) But it's nice to know others are doing similar tasks or taking care of what needs to be taken care of. Mulching is good! If you end up making too much, go ahead and throw it on my garden beds.
@snappy1 I think you are one of many. I can't believe how many people are putting Christmas lights up early. I saw several the week after Halloween! We get a real tree about a week & a half before Christmas, and it comes down within a couple days after. There is one road near where we live where I think they have some sort of contest because last year they were up early and kept them up until Valentine's Day. I think folks kinda need the cheer this year.

Ran to Hobby Lobby and Walmart today. Hobby Lobby was for a few items to finish customizing Juju's Elf-on-a-shelf. She gets her own elf this year since we went to Disneyland last Christmas when she was 3. I am repainting the hair and eyes to be different from Roo's and changing the hat. Roo's is poseable and I still need to do this to Juju's. I am thinking of adding magnets to their mittens so they can hang from the fridge or heating grates etc.

The trip to Walmart was for some baskets for the freezers. I could only find one of each of the 2 sizes I wanted. I can order online but everytime I do they are sold out. I also got the last of the holiday treat supplies. I am only missing the snickerdoodle cookie mix. I know I can make them from scratch but the mix makes it faster when we make them at my folks' house with the girls. I found a case of quart jars and snagged them. I also got 2 packs of toilet paper because I could! Same with the bleach tablets. I got more borax and washing soda so there is no running out of laundry detergent.

I am taking Lilli Bare(naked) to get her vaccines tomorrow. She is our shy girl that I personally call semi-feral. This is going to be interesting since I have to get her in the harness then her carrier just so I can insure she doesn't get away from the vet at the clinic.

Hopefully I can get all my projects done before K goes back to work the Monday after Thanksgiving.

LadyLocust, I'm glad you caught the bogus charges in time. But I know it can still be a pain to get them removed & possibly have to get a new card. People like that suck. My best friend has had his debit card actually stolen a few times & his ex opened up cards in his name & maxed them out to ruin his credit.

I went to Samsclub-- mine is about an hour away. My brother was along so it cost a lot more than it would have if I'd gone alone. He got a bunch of extra stuff. There were only 2 bags of cat food left. Also only 1 of some vitamin my mom needed- I think Krill Oil. I found some good allergy medicine. We stopped at the chinese place to get drive through but they've dismantled it and are open for buffet again. We didn't have time so we got take-out.

I'm not having brain freeze.

Took wife to one of the little lakes near our place today to go for a walk. On the way there was a moving sale and we bought enough to just about fill the truck box. Really good bargains. $60 for everything we bought and that included 2 new but full 20# propane cylinders.

Been busy the last few days.
Strawberry has been walked yesterday, today.
Went out to dinner with oldest son, grand daughter, his lady friend, her two children.
It was interesting to say the least.
Oldest son, oldest grand daughter, his lady friend's youngest daughter came this by this morning.
They stayed til noon.
Both girls were getting cranky by the time they left.
Got a nap after they left.

Wife wasn't feeling very good this morning. Her BP was high. Gave her a Lasix , it dropped to normal within an hour.
She just didn't feel too good, Doc told me to get her some Pepto Bismo, went to DG.

Worked most of the day on my Echo backpack leaf blower. Tried everything. Disassemble and cleaned carb, replaced spark plug, It runs 10 to 45 seconds then dies. Won't start again till cools off. Hate working on it , so dropped it off for repair, suspect bad carb.

Went and picked up our groceries at Walmart.

Went and picked up supper for us.

Resting , watching Rio Lobo.

Jim

Good morning friends and family.
It is a wonderful day in the neighborhood.
Neighborhood dogs are barking already.
People are racing their engines already.
Strawberry has been walked this morning.
She;s making herself abed with me on the recliner.
I might take a nap.
Already rearranged the refrig.
Got a dab of dishes to do up.
I'm thinking Strawberry wants to be covered up this morning with a quilt coverlet.
Yep, that;s what she wanted.
She settled right on down, quit using my stomach, legs as kneading board.

Post Office. Mail 9mm bolt carrier to a friend.
Lawn and Garden. See if they have any used walk behind snow blowers for my oldest sister.
Empty wastepaper baskets.
Resizing die due to be delivered Monday is on today's truck for delivery! Might resize brass this evening.
Sleep nap most of a college football

Laundry. Total house cleaning. Expecting guests sometime this evening, so a good dinner cooked. Husband wants to go into the bigger town today to order his new bike and take mine in for off road tires. We didn't get to that yesterday. Kids are still confined to the farm till Thanksgiving, so they can help with stuff. The big equipment is still in the yard to finish digging the basement. It looks about 3/4 dug. Telling granddaughter to go look and see if some animal fell in it last night.

Amish Heart,
Hope nothing fell in your new basement hole.
