Slept in at GF's house this morning. It's the first time I've slept well since I got back from North Platte and it felt wonderful. I took Ruby the Lab for a mile and a half walk before I went home and of course she pooped in the neighbor's yard so I had to clean that up.

Got home at noon after a bit of shopping and worked on the loose heat shield under my RAV4. I had to use 4 washers of descending size and a flare nut on each corner of the shield to get it tight. It should stop rattling now. If it doesn't I'm probably going to say bad words and commit a felony of some sort. That rattle has been driving me nuts and this is the 4th attempt at fixing it.

Tonight I'm going to the gym and then I think I'll make breakfast for dinner. Might even have steak and eggs, or maybe a breakfast burger with bacon and eggs on it. (And tater tots!😀)

Bringing husband to that retina appt to most of the day. Couple hrs of driving round trip, and a couple hrs there. Ugh. Glad we don't have to do that often. Laundry done, tomorrow is supposed to rain some. Prefer to hang it outside. Got some outside trim painting done, around a garage window and around the garage door. Pup was watching and trying to eat a berry bush. Saying no wasn't cutting it, but this time the collar beep worked. Didn't even have to go to vibrate. Little granddaughter had no school today, and got the rabbit cages cleaned and a turkey run tarp back up. The sunset is gorgeous tonight.

Got the oil changed in the small snowblower and that was about it today. Since yesterday my left hip hurt so bad the wife had to help me get around. I couldn't put any weight on it. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow. Pain or no pain the work still needs to get done.
I need to change oil in the tractor, my Jeep, the truck, the big snowblower and the backup generator. Then put chains on the tractor and put the rear blade on. On the next clear day I'm going to lay out the foundation beams for the ATV shed.

Whatcha got going on Mt Trapper....arthritis? Nerve damage? I've got both, and some days are good, and some days are really not.
Not really sure, the doc said a herniated disc in my lower back. I guess that could affect my hips and legs too. Or it could be the 100 pound bales that I put in the barn the other day.

Cold blustery day. Rain, wind, and dark all day. Went to Wmart 🤪. Made lotion bars for the year: give some to a friend and sending some back east in hurricane care packages.
Did some research but prior to 1970 periodical archives are sketchy.
If anyone needs to know, 5-1/2 cups of cooked pumpkin dehydrates down to 1 cup 😲
Oh yeah and went to fill my olive oil bottle and ended up pouring oil all over so there is now a clean and well oiled section of the kitchen 😂

Thought I got it all, but I noticed a shiny spot on the floor. Figure I am wearing socks so it’s good 😂
My two rules:
You can write your name in the dust as long as you don’t date it.
The floor’s not sticky unless it can pull your socks off 😂

You are really missing out without mystery cat puke!!😉😃

Got a half inch of rain over night, just light showers so the ground soaked it all up. No run off or puddles anywhere. Glad to get it, lessen the fire danger which was worrisome.

Trip to town in a bit for groceries and errands.
At least you've had a smidgen of rain dampen the ground over there enough to reduce fire risk Peanut whereas here in the South East we've gone 7 months without any significant rainfall with winter being pretty much a failure for 2024 which resulted in our states fire service bringing forward our fire season 3 weeks ahead of schedule as of Midnight 31/10/2024 the fire season for Upper and Lower South East was officially declared open

From my past experience as a volunteer firey whenever the fire season was started earlier than normal it generally equated to a very long and busy summer and with La Nina unfortunately dying in the butt instead of building up were likely in for a nasty fire season

We got 2.5 inches rain! Yay!

Woke up at 3 am and laid there for a while. Waiting to be picked up for yard sale. You all have a great weekend!

They also had two turkeys at 77 cents a lb.
Our Aldi has them for 1.07 a pound. Will get one next week.

Our Aldi had the Butterball for the 1.07 lb. These were the store brand and they had two. I love cooking lots of turkeys and freezing the meat for throughout the year.
In a big rainstorm at the moment, been going on for awhile. I know the thunder and lightning woke me up a number of times. Dog is all wired up about it. Hoping to go to the Christmas stuff on Main St at 3 of our stores, but will see if I can leave husband for an hour or so.

looks like everyone is getting rain or snow but us. Send some this way

Got woke up in middle of night by Otto barking and some probably big owl making a lot of noise. Not sure it was a owl but can't think of what else. Definitely not a cayote
Sounded like someone was strangling a cat or something

Took Otto for a long hike up the mountain yesterday and did yoga, and much to my surprise my foot doesn't feel too bad. I think maybe standing on it is worse than walking on it. Weird. I didn't do much else yesterday

today after animal care and lunch I might start writing more recipes down. I want to make a small cookbook to sell at the market. I will only put recipes that use at least one ingredient we produce on the farm.

Woke up to 37* this morning. Winter has arrived at the island.will finish stowing things away and general cleaning. Still have some fiber on the wheel I need to spin off and pack up.

My brother and sister-in-law are coming for dinner tonight. They’ll help me get some of the truck packed tonight. All I’ll need to do tomorrow is pack up fridge/freezer and the used linens. Then it’s goodbye until April.

that's not that good of a price. I wait till they go on sale for like $.68 a pound or something and then get a big one to freeze

Got up, took a shower, got dressed, went to the store and picked up a variety of stuff for the lady who is ill and on the road for home, stopped and topped off Charlene, basked in the glorious coolness of the air, came home and hauled my bags upstairs, straightened the place up, made the bed, put a puke bucket, a towel and a Powerade Zero next to her side of the bed, made some coffee and now I sit here and wait for her to arrive. Once I get her squared away I have a car to unload and a closet to organize.

The rain quit sometime over night, now it's just cold and foggy. Looks like it's a good chili making day. I'm feeling a little better this morning so I'm going to try and get a few things done outside. Then I'll start on the chili. I found a bag of diced smoked prime rib in the freezer, that'll go nicely in the chili. Got plenty of peppers and some thick sliced bacon too.
