Going on day 4 of recovering from swelling on the sternum as result of both seatbelt and air bags saving my life after that unfortunate incident last Thursday it hurts slightly less in comparison to Friday/Saturday I've gotten a fair bit of movement back not as stiff but still fairly tender just enough to be able to remove the VHF marine and VHF/UHF amateur radio out of my former 4x4 today along with other personal belongings but had to leave land mobile UHF installed as it was on the accessories listed in compo premium car insurance so most likely will get extra from payout to purchase a new one and antenna as well

For some reason I am very nervous about the assessment side of things don't exactly know why though hopefully the payout amount on my policy is what I will get or maybe a bit more but its the waiting/suspense which is putting me on edge
Hopefully it will all be done soon, waiting is awful! Hope you keep feeling better!!

Did very little today, just rested. This evening I started planning a long over due project I’ve been dreading. Correct the poor lighting of a L shaped stairway wired 50yrs ago on a very tight budget. A circuit/switch at the top of the stairs turns on a light for the upper portion. A separate circuit/switch turns on the light in the room at the bottom of the stairs. Irritating, whether going up or down half of the stairs are always dark, either the upper or lower section. I’m going to put both lights and both switches on a single circuit, so going up or down the entire stairway is illuminated and both lights can be turned off from either end… technically a simple circuit.

In reality a royal pain, the upper section walls are covered in v-joint southern yellow pine. The lower section walls are cinder block. So to wire up this simple circuit I have to dismantle solid pine walls and drill/feed wire through cinder blocks. Part has to be done through the attic, technically a 3rd floor… and balance a ladder on a set of stairs and work from it in the dark.

I’m not worried I’ll be electrocuted, the electrical part is easy. I’m worried about broken bones from falling off the damn ladder while I work using a headlamp!!!! Wish me luck!!! (there are no windows, it’s the darkest corner of a 2 story duplex)
😮BE CAREFUL!!

trying to get used to Stevia in my coffee.....instead of getting used to it ( I started this experiment yesterday) it seems to taste worse today LOL

It is finally RAINING, first time we get anything more than a short drizzle since the storm in September. I think this is probably the longest we have ever gone without rain that long since we moved here.
But looks like almost done so animals go back out here in a few minutes

Had something bad happen yesterday, one of the little bucks somehow managed to get over the fence and promptly did it with his little sister. She is a really nice little goat and I don't want to breed her till next year. If you breed them too early they never seem to grow up properly, besides chances of some genetic crap if she has kids from her brother go up. SO I need to call the vet today to see if I can stop her from being pregnant ( lol morning after pill for goats) . I seem to remember I did this once when we first started and a neighbor's buck got hold of one of our little ones that got over their fence.

So if we have to drive to the vet, I will do some shopping while there.
Chorionic! It's an injectable "morning after" treatment!!

Tornado warnings last night for part of Michigan - not usual for November! Thankfully I don't see any reports of damage. Here I just got rain.
Emailing with an electrician about getting the generator connection done. Rather up against it for getting contractors, as Opening Day is this week and everyone is heading for the fields and woods. I plan to hunt for the first time in many years, I'd really like to take out that buck that has been destroying my fruit trees.
Headed over to my Daughter's in a few minutes. Hopefully today we can scrub out the bedroom at the new place, haul her bed and dressers over from the apartment, and get her set up to start living in the new house!
Peanut please be careful! That sounds like an awful job.

Already walked.
Finished laundry.
Decorated small Christmas tree that I put in the office because of cat.
Now we will go visit with DH's sister. Flooded yesterday so we put it off.
When I get home will clean baths and dust house.
That's enough for today.

I need 3 day weekends.
An appointment later.
Trying to catch up with stuff.
My gettin’ born day is coming up, taking the day off work for that but haven’t decided what I’ll do yet. My favorite state park will be closed due to deer hunting.
@Robert Stewart sorry to hear you had a rough go of it with the accident!
@winds-of-change i didn’t know it was safe to go to DR at this point. One of my kids went there a few years ago and it was not safe.

I got up well before sunrise, kissed my lady, used the facilities, stretched out while still warm, got dressed, drank some water, ate a banana, strapped on my discreet plate carrier, grabbed my loaded Atlas pack, attached my hydration bladder, walked out the front door, rucked just over 6 miles to the national cemetery, took a moment, did my 22 pushups, drank some water, chewed on some calories, rucked the 6 miles back while singing Hi Ho Lock & Load in my head and battling mental fatigue, dumped my gear, used the facilities, drank more water, stretched out, ate some Aleve, ate a protein bar, stretched more and now here I sit wiped out physically and mentally. I made it in under 3 hours, but not by much, I am getting old. I may be visiting the hot tub in a bit.

I was watching television and thought about going to get some iced tea, but the kitchen is like 15 steps away so I gave up on that idea.
I can understand that. I keep my sodas in the fridge in the fur shed. Sometimes I'm too lazy to walk the hundred feet to go get me one. It is up hill after all. So I just drink water.

Hope y'all have a GREAT time!!
Thank you. We will.

We are going to an all inclusive resort and won’t leave the resort. I’m pretty sure we’ll be safe there. I know it kind of defeats the purpose of visiting another country if you just stay in the resort but we mostly want the weather. There will be about 12 of us all together there. We mostly like to terrorize the resort. 🤣

rucked just over 6 miles to the national cemetery
There is a term I've never heard before, but maybe it is a term used in the military? It must have been pretty chilly during your walk, but the walking alone had to keep you warm.

I know two gentlemen who are buried at that cemetery. I attended one graveside service there, but those places are so large that it is hard to find gravesites. Was it decorated with flags? I would imagine that it is.

I've been to the national cemetery in Sturgis, attending the service for a woman whose husband was buried there. Services at national cemeteries are very much strictly timed, and scheduled back to back.

If I was in my hometown, I would put flags on my parent's and other relatives graves, but it has probably been done by the local VFW or the women's auxiliary. At least I would visit their graves.

There is always a program at the auditorium and something at the cemetery where each branch of the service is represented by a local vet. There is a printed program that lists all the vets who grew up there, and my mother's name is not on it, because she grew up elsewhere. She was in the Nurse's Corp, so her grave gets a flag and has a metal marker remembering that service.

Rucking is a long brisk walk or jog with a weighted backpack, aka "ruck sack". It's a long held military march in gear for physical and mental conditioning. 12 miles total with 50lbs is a good standard ruck, although I ended up somewhere closer to 12.3 miles even though I went to the backside of the cemetery not the front gate. I did not want to see people if I could avoid it. And yes, the cold disappears quickly as the body heats up.

Took my brother to get his blood drawn for upcoming checkup. Picked up mail. Went to Walmart. Forgot some stuff while there. Went to friend's house to drop something off and play with kittens. Went back to Walmart to get the stuff we forgot. Grabbed food at a local place. Headed home and brakes are acting up. Not sure what is wrong.

Currently curled up with kitties.

Got the pole up for the Starlink, just need to let the cement set up before I mount the dish on top. Had to use my hammer drill to dig the hole. After lunch I'm going to mount the chimney brace on the fur shed. The snow is supposed to start this afternoon and last for the next several days, with a possible break tomorrow.

Wow, snow. We've got a little while. It was gorgeous out today, high of 71, no wind. Husband had a rough morning, so brought him in to the bigger town to the heart doc this afternoon, his heart rate going too high because his breathing is so bad. Changing up the heart meds he stopped taking because it made his breathing worse. Picked that up from the pharmacy, or half of it anyway, because that's all they had till tomorrow. Another med not in because it didn't come in. Seeing this more and more with Walgreens. Did his 20 minute infusion in the truck in the Atwood's Parking Lot. No choice, it was time. Loaded up on feed, and about ready to grab little granddaughter to help me unload it. Got a new pair of long johns for when we do get colder weather. Atwoods has been a good place to find distilled water at a good price when Walmart is out. Picked up more of that, too.

No energy today so I corrected two small problems. I fry in a #8 cast iron pot, had just filled it with a quart of fresh cooking oil 3 days ago. Yesterday I was setting it off the stove and dropped it. It took every old towel in the rag box to soak up the oil. I tossed them outside. Today I got them into a 15g horse tub with water and dish washing liquid and let them soak all afternoon. They are mostly clean now. Got them in the washing machine for a regular wash and dry so they can go back in the rag box.

The other prob… Been feeding the calf just after dark. The gate chain hooks onto a nail between two strands of barbwire. Every time I go through the gate my hands and arms get nicked on the barbs. Since I was tired of bleeding I rolled out 100ft of power cord then used a dremel tool to cut the barbs off the strands of wire. It’ll save me a small fortune in bandaids! 🤣

But at least something got accomplished today! 😊

Thank you. We will.

don't worry, I have several relatives including dad and uncle that have been there and it's perfectly fine, have a nice trip! Just don't cross the border to Haiti...

Got hay after work. Called to line up a propane delivery this week and they were able to deliver today, so that's done until next November! Got on the pool float for about 45 minutes. Brushed Bear, Buddy, and Sammy cat! Ate a bunch of steak fresh off the grill, now sitting taking it easy! Pumpkin pie happening in a little bit!!

I got to do one of my favorite tasks today- read a contract 🙄. (Sarcasm folks, lots of sarcasm). I always read them. Don’t know if I’ve ever not altered one before signing.
Chilly here, rained most of the day. Wasn’t a super productive day.
Good news is I slept through the night last night for the first time since the fire.

Glad you slept, Lady L. Fires are terrifying. Our neighbor's house in NM burnt down, and it was in the middle of the night. And we had that wheat field that was set across the road from us. It's very scary. Took everyone months and months before they lit their burn piles around here, realizing how much it affected all of us.

Day 5 of upper sternum soreness the pain has gotten lesser and lesser I recieved a missed call followed up by subsequent text message notifying me of an assessor going to inspect the damage next Monday

After ringing them back and being transferred I explained to the shiela on other end that transport is needed asap she assured me the assessor won't take long to deem it repairable or replacable

So hopefully by either the 28th of this month or 4th of December or a lil bit thereafter I'll have another set of wheels just need to wait on one last bit of paperwork to come from Adelaide that will be sent off to my insurer via email when I get it and outcome of assessor
