Spent last 2 days driving to Nashville and back with a Dr visit in the middle. Got a pretty good report. Bad thing was a call I got yesterday telling me my insurance wouldn't pay for a scheduled Echo on my heart so he could see how things were going. Dr wrote me an order for an echo and I'm gonna try and find somewhere around here that will do one for cash and fight it out with the insurance later. I need to know where things stand.
Overall Dr thought I was progressing well and wants me to stay with Rehab for the full 36 visits. Tomorrow will be #5, so gotta ways to go yet. Depending on the Echo results I may get to start back to work first full week in January

Thanks for that Pearl i am slowly getting there still a small area of puffiness but that absence of insurance details from him is what's bugging me heaps,as mum was involved in a side swipe in Adelaide last year visiting my sister and the person responsible provided her insurance details as did mum both CGU and RAA worked hand in hand to settle the claim

I’ve experienced similar, I backed into a parked vehicle, entirely my fault. Made a little dent and my insurance would have paid for the repairs. Here the legal way to handle a minor situation is… both parties exchange insurance cards or information and call their insurance later… or they call the police and wait. They come out and make a report which can be requested by insurance companies. The police also collect all info and verify, both drivers are properly licensed, both vehicles are licensed and insured. If a vehicle isn’t properly licensed and insured it’s impounded and towed by the police. If the driver isn’t licensed they can be heavily fined, even arrested at the discretion of the police.

In my case, when I pulled out my cell phone to call the police the other driver suddenly wanted to forget the whole incident and left the scene. Obviously their paper work wasn’t proper… My vehicle had a heavy steel bumper, didn’t get a scratch. I was happy not to report it to my insurance who would have raised my yearly insurance rate/payment.

For serious accidents like yours the police are always called and a legal report of the accident is made for the insurance companies to haggle over.

Hope your company gets it sorted out quickly. not knowing is stress no one needs.

Also, sternum injuries take a long time to heal. Take care not to re-injure yourself. Years ago I had a large Charolais bull, weighed 2300lbs. He was gentle as a lamb and liked to have his ears scratched. I was working around the barn, my ribs/side was against a large pole holding up a side shed. The bull came up and pressed his head against my ribs, almost squashed me like a grape. He didn’t mean to hurt me, just wanted his ears scratched. It was months before I could breath freely without pain… I re-injured my sternum a couple times, so it was my fault it took so long. So be careful!!!

My bull... from years ago... Miss him, he was a great bull, sired lots of great calves.

@snappy1 and @Amish Heart , I hope your husbands get feeling better and that the doctors treat them better.

@d_marsh, I hope you get feeling better and pain free soon.

@Peanut , ouch! I hope your eye heals up quickly. One time Mom was driving and someone sideswiped us-- tried to change lanes without looking. No injuries and we reported it to insurance as hit and run but didn't get the damage fixed bc it was so minor. Almost had a wreck today bc some idiot staring at her cellphone ran a red light.

@LadyLocust, I'm so sorry you lost stuff to fire. That absolutely sucks. I hope something can be salvaged. Hope insurance will cover stuff, but it can't heal the stress of having gone through that.

@Ekatarina I hope you can get some good sleep soon. That is a very pretty song. Very soothing. I think I found a new song to listen to for helping me sleep. Thank you!

@Robert Stewart sorry you were in an accident. Accidents suck! I agree that it sounds suspicious that the other person is making demands and not providing insurance info. I hope you heal up quickly and that your insurance will cover you if the other driver didn't have insurance.

@MoBookworm1957 hope you and your Irishman enjoy your time together before he has to go.

@Bacpacker can you ask someone at the doctor's office to call insurance and insist you get the echo? Sometimes it takes arguing from either the patient or medical staff to get coverage. Although, it took months of arguing for my mom to get approved for her insulin pump, but she got it eventually. Insurance companies bank on people just giving up and not fighting.

The tire shop only charged $50 labor for the job and it came out under $400 just barely. New tires are supposed to come in on Friday. I'm not going to be driving anywhere in the truck unless its an emergency.

Starting to think the people digging trenches for conduit may have cut my phoneline. AT&T said they'd send someone out Saturday to look. I did see one of their trucks on the road earlier though.

Fed mom, fed cows, fed doggies, fed kitties, refilled waterer in kitchen, and need to change Mom's cannula again when she's willing to let me. She's watching Youtube.

Power blinked off for about 5min and stopped the DVR of Hot Bench. I'm fairly certain the defendant lost. Her attitude made me want to slap the smug off her face.

Did I mention I saw 7 deer in my yard this morning? 2 fled out the front gate and the other 5 ran to the back field.

Referring to my earlier post Peanut said individual has continued to with-hold his insurance details and only sent the letter of demand this morning exactly 4 days since the incident occurred despite saying that he was going to issue me with his insurance policy number and insurer name to make processing claim easier

This has trigged alarm bells at my insurance company by sending that letter expecting an answer in 14 days and a favorable outcome instead of going through the process of making a claim and letting both companies deal with it like you have mentioned above so its a very fishy situation thankfully my Product Disclosure Statement protects me as it states the RAA legal team/lawyers will do all negotiating and settlements because of my insurance cover being comprehensive premium the top tier

The left side of my sternum only has one swollen spot now which is good as I've got some freedom of movement despite the brief periods of pain when bending over but I'll be right

@zannej The second i read that 1 page letter of demand this morning my gut instinct told me something was really off especially when said individual implicitly stated on same day the incident happened he'd send me his insurance details via email not this letter that has set off alarm bells at my insurance company when they received a copy of it from me this morning when I was on the phone to them

What makes it more frustrating is that he has pretty much yet to disclose insurance details and hasn't even bothered to contact RAA despite getting my policy number and insurer on the day it happened the way it's tracking this claim will most likely be approved and processed with him only walking away with repairs and myself another reconditioned vehicle

On the plus side my blood samples i got taken voluntarily on Thursday arvo at the hospital arrived at Forensics SA in Adelaide on Monday arvo so it won't be too much of a longer wait but the fact he has failed to provide me his insurance details still bugs the heck out of me

I really hate the short daylight hours now
yesterday, after taking care of the animals, we had some coffee and then took the truck to the repair shop to drop off.
Got back, I made lunch , did dishes, watched 1 episode of Great british baking show, took Otto for a hike and it was dark!

I hope they don't find anything too terrible with the truck....

Zannej: reading about your vehicle problems made ME have anxiety...that is going to be a huge bill...

Lady Locust: so sorry about your fire, but at least you still have a house.

Amish and Snappy: hope your husbands feel better!

Today animal care, dreading the phone call from the repair shop, making sushi and getting ready to put animals in overnight since we are supposed to get real rain this time and it's cold. 10 more days till a lot of them are going to the auction. I wished I could keep them all but we don't have enough land or hay for this many. We are trying to keep it around 35 , those are bare minimum. ( breading animals, next years butchering animals, little goats that need to grow before we either breed, butcher or sell them, 2 little bucks)
Husband fixed the fence and that little stinker buck got over it again anyway. We didn't see him but he did right after we put him back in. He had no time to do anything , and we put him back with the big ones again, but I sure would like to know how he does it. Might put him back in today and watch him if we have time.

One more thing: I know its sort of fun, but please stop gloating over the Trump win. I am happy about it too, but it's bad luck to gloat....it will give us all bad karma
( my husband does it too, you should see what he has as screensaver on his computer at the moment )

It's snowing this morning with a strong breeze blowing. I'll unload the summer tires in the barn and put both Jeeps back in the garage. I need to change oil in my Jeep, the truck, tractor and the back up generator. Except for the tractor everything can be done inside.
Recently I ordered some books on blacksmithing. They were delivered a couple days ago. I may have time to look through them today. Also ordered a new portable battery charger.
Yesterday the power seats quit working in the Grand Cherokee. We made an appointment with the Jeep dealer for next Wednesday. We'll drop it off at the dealership on Tuesday when we go pick up feed.

Snowing hard and the wind has really picked up. And now its starting to drift. After doing our normal chores this morning we came inside. I started reading one of my books sitting next to the wook stove. Got through two pages and fell asleep. Unless something breaks down I think we'll be inside until it's time for evening chores.

Got up, worked out, swam some laps versus running, soaked in the hot tub, got cleaned up, put away and locked up the valuables, waited and waited for the groceries to arrive some 40 minutes late, put them away, let in the cleaning crew, made a few phone calls to confirm my BIG date plans for tomorrow, made some lunch, conversed with the girl for a bit, and now we are watching another Marvel movie.

Animal chores done. Boy it's windy and cooling down here, in the low 50's. The guy came around and filled up the propane tank. The pharmacy from Wichita delivered husband's new IV med, and our son called, so we caught up. He got his new woodburner installed in the Bluebird bus he is redoing and is loving it. New Mexico had a pretty good snow last week. Going to get husband settled and go get some errands done that need doing.

Today I'm considered working for Pfizer. Yes, I'm serious. A recruiter found my resume online, saw my job history and mechanic experience and wants to 'connect' about applying for a job as forklift mechanic at Pfizer.

I'm still considering it. Could it be worse than being a heavy equipment for Republic Services at a landfill? - A job I quit.
But.... The more I think about it..... the more I think - NO

There's plenty of mechanic jobs around. No need to work for a company you don't like. After the first of the year there will be even more jobs in the oil fields and on the pipelines. A good mechanic is always in demand.

so no news on our truck, guy that was supposed to fix it called in sick
put the goats in the barn, left the sheep out ( they have shelter area) , supposed to rain starting early tomorrow morning most likely, so we will put in the sheep when we get up

talked to my brother for a few hours on the phone today, we haven't talked in a while so it was nice to catch up

weather is cold, had the wood stove on all day today ( didn't burn much wood, just kept it barely going)
Husband put up a shelve for me in the kitchen to put a fan on . It was on the fridge before, but the fridge got moved, so it is not so close to the stove. The fan is needed to get the hot air out of the kitchen into the livingroom

A gazillion errands today. Kinda annoying these folks acknowledge the silly time change. According to them, we now wake up about 3am. Stores don’t open until 9 & 10 am which is 10 & 11 if you wake up with us. I would say burning daylight, but there’s not that much daylight at either end of the day right now.

Today went quicker than normal had fill in for a co-worker today due to his gp appointment being in the arvo so I did his shift and he took over 20 minutes early so I could do my shopping and come home we were discussing about my current insurance claim debacle as water cooler chat before shift change over even he thinks something is very fishy in terms of other party having yet to disclose their insurance details and has advised me to let it play out
