Went to bed at 9:30 and got up at 9:00. Of course didn't sleep the whole time ... muscle pain woke me many times.

No plans today other than rest. This stupid muscle pull has actually created bruising!!!
my gosh, we are all falling apart on here....
my foot hurts pretty bad again today, I think I might actually have a doctor look at it to see if anything can be done about it

so today, hiked up the mountain with Otto ( that was probably too much after other stuff) , chopped some wood , carried some wood ( too much) and figured out we need to have a budget after getting our latest bank statement . We need to live on what we have for another couple years until I get ss.

Have not heard from daughter either, her husband is finally off the ship but injured or not doing good somehow ( PTSD and some other stuff) so not good, but I don;t want to call and bother them on his first weekend back. But I really don't understand what is going on with them, it's like I am not getting the whole story. Do your kids ever do that to you if you have any?

Tonight it will go down to about 4f
Yesterdays ...high temp... was a balmy 6F here.... Todays high 29F.. Warm enough to be a ..hoodie over a sweater.. day.. Along with a small dusting of new snow.. High overcast, no sun today..

Out today to get a few groceries, mail, gas, and a McDonalds coffee.. Just going to hunker in tonight and tomorrow and watch ..Monster Quest.. cryptozoology marathon.. I'm not so keen on the integrity of ET type sightings, but I'm more inclined to take stock in sasquatch type incidents.. It is interesting the differences and the many similarities in sightings all across the country..

Went up and got a tree. There was plenty of snow and it was gorgeous. Every year we threaten to get snowshoes and never have. Kept sinking nearly waist high so got a good workout. Same for the dog. It was hilarious but he kept jumping into fresh snow rather than in our tracks 😂. Got a tree but didn’t get it put up yet because our tree stand was in the fire. Went to HD and they only have for huge trees so Hubby will make one.
While out stopped at a Christmas bazaar and ran into a gal I knew years ago so that was fun. Also saw some folks I get my tea from who recommend a winery we hadn’t been to as they were featuring their mulling spices in a hot mulled wine today. Went out and we were the only ones there. The gal was sooo nice and poured heavy on the tastings 😋. Chatted a ton and left with a couple bottles of wine. The mulled wine was good but a bit sweet for me. Hubby liked it. Home now. Skiing tomorrow.

Trying to stay up later..got a nice cozy fire..
I had plans on watching stuff..but it's nice to just have it quiet tonight except for the fire, snoring pups and rain/snow outside..
Ended a hectic week..and today was busy with home stuff then the groups months meeting.
Tomorrow I will walk my pups well..then work on a new rug.
Just some random pics I took friday..lots n lots of wood..and snow behind the mill..

@LadyLocust , When I was a youngin, We used to use a small tub with coal to stand the tree in and small/thin rope to the corner walls...

so right now I am sort of annoyed for the first time I have joined this forum.....

Sleet and rain coming down, all animals stay in, so we will have to rotate them around but it's possible since we send a bunch to the auction.
Debating if I should call daughter or not
need more firewood already getting lower, it's been way colder than usual already and official winter is still a week away

I attempted to stay up late, fell asleep around 8 or 9..got woke up around midnight and from then struggled to sleep.
Got up way to early but boy the sunrise and especially moonset over the mountain was stunning. The moon made the snow shimmer..

I at least made myself useful this am..
I got my lunches going in the crockpot.

I'm going through old food I didn't rotate and eat too. I need to clean out my cupboards n pantry and restock. I'm pretty bad about getting items and not rotating them properly..so for example I found canned hash 10 years old way in the back. Yikes..
So, that went in the trash...but other stuff that's not too old is going to the birds. They don't care if it's stale pasta or mushy canned corn. As long as it's not rotten or cans are rusted I'll still get use out of it and my birds get a warm treat on these cold mornings.
I cook it up for them. So this am they got corn, pasta, some oatmeal and stale tortilla chips..
Once my pantry is empty, I'm going to rip out the nasty old carpet in there put down those vinal tiles and make the pantry more user friendly ..probably redo shelving in there. I'm tired of losing stuff and it being a mess.
My little house I had before this tin can had a nice little pantry that made it easy to rotate stuff..I really liked that.

Boy oh boy
Today I did put in outside stair and on the way to go to garbage bin
a mix of dry sand and salt I did spray it on the ground on ice
My shoulder is getting better/stronger ...so tomorrow garbage day

I had 12 bags of cat litters I could not lift..but guess what.. today
I was able to go and drop it in garbage bin + 1 bag of garbage
I think I am slowly getting ok

I took my time though ...George called me he asked if I need help with something.
I said : *Nope. I am good, thanks* --- He was : *Oh! ok.* 😂

Feels so nice all that sheete gone

Glad he had fun in the snow! My Bear will be three in a month and a half and never saw snow! Just some ice!!🙁
This silly mutt runs along and drops his head to get a mouthful of snow without slowing down. He loves the snow. Now that we have a good base we'll have snow on the ground until sometime in April.

Whoop Whoop I got the Christmas cards done. I'll get them in the mail tomorrow. And husband finished the online gift ordering. So I feel accomplished. Also went to the old basement and cleaned off and out a whole shelf unit of spices. It was getting completely out of control, and things needed to get checked for goodness and wiped down. Got the king sized quilt on our bed washed early this morning, and it finally dried and was able to return it to the bed. Didn't sleep well last night, so I doubt I'll be up very late tonight.

Sunday is going away..

You never get snow in Texas where you are or just not since you got him? I seem to remember driving through TExas to NM for skiing and there was snow somewhere near Amarillo
We get snow, just more ice! No snow the past few years. In 2009 we got 13" of snow! We were supposed to get 1-2"!

I’ve done that before and suggested it- only used river rock in the bucket. Hubby doesn’t want to do that so I didn’t argue.

Replacement garage door opener finally installed and working. My covid brain made it harder than it had to be. I do have to go back up the ladder and install some spacers where it bolts into the hanger, and find whatever I did with the baseplate for the house switch so I can mount that to the wall. But thankfully the door now goes up and down at the touch of a button, no more crazy stuttering.
Also got the motorcycle moved from the garage to the shed, and the snowblower from the shed to the garage.
Not very many in church this morning, lots of ice on the roads. Supposed to warm up and rain tomorrow.
Looking forward to my daughter coming to stay with me next weekend. She has to work on Christmas, so we're getting together early.

Y'all have better choices to bathe in!! Of course he doesn't want to heat up bath water in a Christmas tree stand!!🙄 I bet you are hard to live with 😉!! 🌴🪵✨🐯🐕🐥🦗🍇Yep, you got random emojied!!

played in the snow two days in a row. Went skiing today. It was chilly but gorgeous. I’m sure out of shape. The wind was blowing a bit so the snow was thick in spots. I’m not a pro like hubby so it takes more work for me to make it down the hill when it’s like that (and I am still a little apprehensive about my knee). Afterwords we went to our favorite little steakhouse that is extremely reasonable- hadn’t been there for almost two years and they recognized us and gave us our same table etc. Same waitress- she remembered what we ordered. It was awesome.

We're looking for a steak house like that too. The nearest steak house for us is about 100 miles north. Its in an old bar in a small river town. Before the covid scam hit they made a great pepper steak. Then they couldn't get fresh beef any more. I even offered to give them one of our steers, but couldn't do it because government rules, blah, blah, blah. The wife wants to go back up there for Christmas dinner. They still make great prime rib sandwiches, we'll see if their doing the pepper steak again.
