I've been useless so far this morning. I was getting over a cold but yesterday it came back with a vengeance. My head is stuffed up and I'm coughing a bunch of crud out. I don't have much on the agenda for today. I need to find some last minute presents. I ordered some insulated tights for my daughter the other day. They're supposed to be here tomorrow. GF is really hard to get presents for. She is successful enough that if she needs anything, she just goes out and buys it. The things she wants, are too expensive to be appropriate for Christmas presents, or if they're not that expensive she just goes out and buys them. She likes earrings so I think I'll just take her to get ones she likes. If I choose them I'm sure they'll be wrong...😉

Cat got me up at 4am, I'm worthless. Finish decorations today, plan to scrounge some veggies at the market. Work at the shop, I have a jeep with the whole front of the engine open to reassemble.

Coffee.
Giving the kitchen and bathroom a good cleaning before the Irishman gets home.
Having the last Granny's sleepover for the year this Sunday.
Coffee with the Veterans on Monday.
Then Estelle will be busy with her mom, big sister, and little brother King Nash.
Then she will be busy with her dad, little brother Charlie at her dad's house.
King Nash has turned 1 year old this week.
Estelle (age 7 June )has decided that her big sister(19 years old),her brother Charlie(earlier May 1 year old) and King Nash 1 year old- December) are all my grandchildren.
Along wit Reign age 4 (August)and Nyx age 1 last of May.)
So according to Estelle I have 3 one year old grandchildren.
4 Warrior Princesses and 2 Jedi knights, my Irishman's grandchildren both Jedi Knights and 2 bonus grandchildren.
Isn't life grand with all these grandchildren.
Otherwise I have 3 warrior princesses and 1 Jedi knight.
Just think a year ago I had 2 warrior princesses.
Isn't life grand.

Thumper knew you needed to get up and get moving early! It's probably a habit now, make sure you get to bed early tonight!!😉🙀

I haven't done a dang thing today, other than feed the critters. Got a fire going in the fur shed too. It's up to 32 degrees inside, almost comfortable. It's still very foggy outside. I can bearly see the house from here. I'm not going to do any plowing today, can't see the road in front of the tractor. It'd be too easy to fall off the road.

Spent the afternoon organizing the mini-shop. More than a mess, it was a disaster. I had about 30” of walking space from the door to the sump pump and extension cords. Crap piled every where. I could clear a small space on the tble when needed but that was it, unusable.

It’s only a mess now, most things are close to where they’ll eventually go. I found tools I’d forgotten I owned. I also designated an old grey tool box as the tool graveyard, a place for worn out tools before they get tossed. More like the morgue, a temporary stop. As a man who earned his living with tools it’s difficult to throw them away, even useless ones. 😁

Major reorganization still needed but I have a good start. Even have space for several people to sit during tornado warnings (walls are poured with rebar inserts). And… I finally have everything needed to add a 2nd shelf on the back wall. I'm tired of cans falling off… 🤣

Neat old rocker! Looks like a comfy one.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Thank you 😊

Been tired and busy. Friend sprained his ankle so things have slowed down with working on the house.
Took my brother up to get some sleep study equipment and I have to take it back tomorrow. i should make him do it but he's too lazy and it has to be done.

Kitties have been super cuddly. Weather turned warm again-- too warm for me.

Put some lights on a bush by the front door so the place looks a little more cheerful when Daughter comes to visit.
Painted the interior of a closet while listening to an agonizingly dull and stupid work meeting. The director of my division was traumatized by the election results and spent a lot of time whining and worrying about his save the climate agenda and seemed surprised we were all still working and doing our jobs and not melting down on a street corner or something. Someday I'd like to haul him along on some of my fieldwork that involves six hours on the road and hilly two-tracks back into the woods in winter and 'splain the problem with his dream of an entirely electric fleet of vehicles.
Kind of a strange encounter today - saw a truck pull in the drive, rather quickly like he belonged here or something. Lift kit, stickers, light bar, oversized tires, pulls right up to my garage. I headed right outside with my 'who are you and why are you here' attitude. Big guy gets out, piercings, big open rings in his ear lobes, odd haircut, just looks like potential trouble. Then he reaches back in the truck and pulls out a box, sees me looking at him, says 'just amazon!' and hands me the box. I'm still in my cautious stage, he's so unlike any amazon driver I've ever seen and the package wasn't due until tomorrow. So I was probably really giving him the look. He just smiled, says again, 'just amazon, Merry Christmas', hops in the truck and roars out of the driveway.
And it was actually my order.
Another reminder I need to learn to be more gracious and welcoming to people and not always be defensive and expecting trouble.

Are Amazon delivery drivers using their personal vehicles now? 🤔

I also had a very scary delivery once. The guy was extremely sus, I'll leave it at that. I ended up reporting it to Amazon. He did have my package, but yeesh.

Spent the evening reading, listening to music, folding some clothes, and sharpening pocket knives. I got a pair of cheapo, Cabela's branded folders on Black Friday because they were less than $10. They're just 420 steel but after a bit of time on the steel rod and the ceramic this evening, they are sharp enough to shave a pig..

Thank you 😊

It was my grandfathers. I think it’s the last chair he ever braided a bottom and back for, from baler twine. As a kid, in winter I’d save the baler twine from hay bales as I fed the cows. In summer we’d braid ropes from the twine to sell to other farmers in town.

Grandpa would also buy these wooden chairs from the hardware store. They came as a kit you could put together. Grandpa would put them together and paint them, usually just lacquer. Then we’d braid seats for them. We sold them in town along with our ropes. I still have 3 of the chairs plus the rocker from those years.

This rocker is actually broken, the seat along the left edge. Must have happened sometime in the 80’s, years after I left home. Grandpa clearly found a piece of metal the right size then used wire to tie it in place. I like it that way so I’ve never bothered to fix it. Looks funny but it's solid, sits great! Someone spray painted the rocker, even the twine, probably my aunt. Grandpa wouldn't have painted it. 😊

@Heartbroken , please be cautious, you were very nice to the Amazon guy!! Around my neck of the woods Amazon is using electric vehicles. The have to drive in from the city and end up dead in the roads out here! Several times lately I've seen Amazon vans being unloaded into white rental vans! How stupid!! Tow truck for the electric van, two drivers unloading and loading boxes by hand, gasoline rental van finishing route!! What a waste of money!!

Not sure what's up for today, but thinking about what's coming up the next few days, so probably will go fill a cart at Aldi and probably a Walmart stop. Thinking the stores will be busier than I want to be in this weekend. Son and girlfriend will be arriving on the early Mon morning train, and there's baking and cleaning to do. And a mouse to catch. I went upstairs to wake up little granddaughter for school and a mouse ran. I've got traps with cheese in each of the bedrooms up there, think I'll add some traps with peanut butter.

I actually have a day off today!! A younger couple I clean for have unexpected company. The dad is in the hospital here, the daughter from Arizona is staying with them! No one would probably be home, but their routines are kinda of messed up right now, so I jumped on the day off! It's cold and windy this morning so I'm going shopping! Need to grocery shop. I'll head to the town to my west and hit all the farm and ranch stores out there just to poke around and feel like a human once! Going to be a decent afternoon, I'll work on my to do list!

It's that mouse in the house time of the year!! Three people I clean for have had them lately!

I have a school board meeting this morning and another mid-day appointment. At some point I need to drag the leaves over from one of the neighbor's houses and spread them in the garden. If I have enough time I'll turn over the area where the chicken coops spent the summer. Dormant spraying the fruit trees with copper fungicide is also on my list, I may have time for that too.
