Sounds like our farm this morning. One hydrant by the chicken coops does work because we put a hose to it and it has a leak, so it did keep on running. Still, hauling buckets was no fun this morning, and hauling buckets that were frozen solid into the house to thaw and dump was a workout. Little granddaughter was a trooper and I appreciated her help. I think we lugged in 14 frozen solid buckets, so it's time to mop the mess off the floor. Just got all the rabbit water bottles thawed, refilled, and little granddaughter ran them all out to the milkhouse. It's up to 10 degrees now, so she and Levi did some sledding on our shooting berm hill. It's the only hill around. The dog liked chasing them. Just housework to do this afternoon. Took a turkey out of the oven. Oh, and our other turkeys are alive. We packed the back end of their run with fresh straw this morning.

I have given up on trying to keep the floor clean, we are not even bothering taking our boots off to fill the buckets. We have a seperate sink right next to the door in the house (not kitchen) so the hallway floor and in front of the sink gets dirty, oh well
I will clean when the weather warms up. can't do laundry either ( all outdoor stuff is frozen including laundry hoses)

I'm glad I only have the donkey to haul water to! The outside cats have a plug in bowl and warming mats in their insulated houses, lots of little blankets too!! We will get all the electric cords we use with the generator out tomorrow just in case! Flat shovels are by each door, the only snow shovel is ready,😉😃 I have had Bear 2 1/2 years and he is finally going to see snow! Oh, and my sled is handy!!

À lefsa roller is a fat rolling pin that has groves cut into it about 1/8" apart. The groves go around the roller not handle to handle. The groves are for getting the lefse as thin as possible; paper thin or less if you've got skills.
Thank you Clem for the information.

Snow day.
I slept in till 5 this morning. Didn't want to get up.
Hubby's head cold has now moved into his chest so I had him take some mucus relief med (mucinex)
Cooking up a mess of greenbeans today for supper with the ham bone from Christmas ham.
Have some more laundry to do
Just gonna hang out and read or listen to the classical radio station
Nice to see you again.
Hope you are well?

I'm back!
My Irishman and I are at my place.
We got about 7 to 11 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.
At least we got home from various Christmas celebrations around the country before the snow hit.
Suppose to get more on Friday.
Almost got through reading one thread of "what's everybody doing today?
My Irishman will be with me for approx. a month this time.
Everything is shut down.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas?
Safe New year?

I ran the leaf blower to clear about 2" of snow from the steps and stoop. It was a white out. I looked like a snow man.

Returned to the Hobbit Hole to plan out the back wall replacement. Decide I want another jack to support the house while I work. I will probably get one tomorrow.

Watch the last of the snow storm.

Nice day

Ben

Correction: a snow hobbit my friend, a snow hobbit ☃️

😂😂😂

Day of many interruptions 🤨. Oy! Went to work this morning for new employee orientation and a couple year end tasks. Came home and my phone kept making noise- was ready to lock it in a closet until it learned how to behave 🤪. Made 2 loaves of SD and got ironing done and got bed stripped, washed and remade and put the regular coverlet back on instead of the Christmas quilt. While trying to get the bed made a neighbor boy (14) stopped by to talk duck hunting with hubby, but he wasn’t home yet so used my ear for probably half hour 😂. He’s a sweet kid but oy, chatty.

Just packing up for my next work trip. I'm flying to Ontario International Airport tomorrow, on the East side of Los Angeles. I'll rent a car there, and head over to Indio, near Palm Springs. We'll be working between Indio and the Salton Sea. That's a nasty area to work in, but it's only about a 12 day job. We should finish there around the 25th and then we'll head to Phoenix for a bigger project over there...

My usual since New Years--go to hospital to visit with dad for the day. His water by mouth test was cancelled yesterday because he has too much phlegm and congestion. Told that is totally normal given his surgical situation. His nurses are fantastic. Yesterday they made arrangements for the therapy dog to visit. He is a maltese/shiz tou mix named Primo. So adorable. Dad's face lit up like a Christmas tree when the dog jumped into his lap. Motioned for me to take his pic with the dog. The handler is also a veteran (Army) and gave Dad a challenge coin that the hospital puts out for veterans.

The water by mouth test is today (fingers crossed). If he passes that, then he gets the feeding tube removed and gets some soft food. He wants cold applesauce the most. If all goes well, we should be able to bring him home Wednesday.

Prayers all goes well and he can head home tomorrow!!🙏🤞

Got another 2 inches of snow overnight so thats 8 inches total for this storm. Now come the winds. Gusts up to 36mph today
I'll be making some blackberry muffins today. Hubby likes them for breakfast with his coffee.
More laundry. For 2 people we sure make a lot of laundry for some reason.
Hopefully our road was plowed last night. As of 5:30 pm it wasn't.
Mail wasn't delivered I know because they only delivered to the main arteries. So much for the "thru snow, sleet, rain " part of the postal service

Maybe our road is cleared, I saw some headlights go down the road a bit ago. I don't worry about the dirt roads too much, it's the paved ones. The last three nights we've had alerts ringing on the cell phones to stay off the roads unless it's an extreme emergency. The weather looks better forecasted tomorrow, out of the negatives, so maybe school. We'll see.
Not anything serious planned today, except animal chores, and I have little granddaughter's help hauling buckets of water to the animals, and hauling buckets packed with ice inside, so I expect not to start till about 1030 this morning, and finish up by lunchtime or so. And maybe Levi will come around, too. Husband was really not feeling well yesterday afternoon, so we'll see what today brings. Hopefully this afternoon I can get to a closet upstairs that needs a complete cleanout. We'll see.

Ranger started and it was the right decision to do the work and shovel the ice/snow yesterday. The steep section between house and barn we cleared was no problem with the Ranger. The flat section was not cleared and very icy and bad . If the steep section had stayed like that we would not have been able to drive it ( and would have had to put chains on the truck to take the water buckets)
So that's good. Animals seem ok too but everyone in again, way too cold and windy out and any remaining grass is covered with snow anyway

Tried the water today. No good. They’re not sure if some of the water is going down into the lung or just getting hung up in the congestion. They’re going to schedule him for another test with an x-ray type scan to see what is actually happening. When we got to the hospital he was walking with the physical therapist. Brother is going to get him up after lunch and before we leave.
