Still Winter
Lucky 7 🙃 lol

Well..yesterday Monday I went for right shoulder x rays and blood tests
and went after to do a bit grocery..then hit the road back home 👍

And today I take it cool and doing some clean up

At 8.pm just sipping a glass of Shiraz I deserve it
Besides .. not much ..just dropped 6 heavy bag loads of cat litters
in garbage bin

I dont know why but I feel like if its weekend ... 🤓
Anyway .... have a great evening and a nice night

I have a thought for our lost friends 😘

Because the past two Wednesdays have been holidays.

@hashbrown you’re not supposed to let them catch you. You’ll need to watch 3 more seasons of Dukes of Hazard and practice daily 😉

Woke up at 1am and didn’t get back to sleep until just before 4am when the coffee starts. Alarm woke me at 4:30. Got up and took my shower and all then laid on the couch and “napped” for about an hour- totally threw my day off.
Ended up having to go into work for a bit. Got a couple riveting things done around here: laundry, floors etc.

Congrats, Peanut! That's awesome!
My decision to buy this place means I won't be debt free for at least another decade, and that's if I don't have to replace my truck. But I'll be better off in the long run. Just got my December gas bill - 100 bucks. At the old place it would have been at least five times that, which would mean I could never retire.

Reading about caring for the animals in the cold - I can feel it! Brought back memories of using an axe to chop through the ice on the pond so the cows could drink, and the way the water would freeze on my eyelashes. I would not want to be doing that now! With all my silly illnesses, it's been a struggle to walk the dog four times a day.

This afternoon I took a bunch of cold meds and a hot shower and pulled myself together enough to go to a dinner with some friends. Got home and crawled into my jammies and settled in my chair with my Vernors and found a missed call from my Mom. She was frantically searching for her cat for two hours after it yanked it's leash out of her hand and took off. She was so upset, thinking of the poor thing tangled in a bush someplace. Yikes, my 84 yr old Mom out there in the dark, on the ice, looking for her cat. So, out of my chair, into layers of clothes and boots and armed with flashlights I was headed down the road to pick up my friend and go cat searching...when Mom called to say he's back. Stupid cat showed up sans harness and leash and marched in the door like "what are you so upset about!" I'm soooo glad I didn't have to drive up there and go looking for him. And even more glad to have a friend that was willing to come back out after her birthday dinner and a long day to help me search.
Hopefully Mom will finally listen to me and quit taking the cat outside.

It's been really windy here today with blowing dust. We are in "power failure" mode tonight. Wearing flashlights on lanyards and generator standing by. They are calling for up to 60-80 mph gusts - that's enough to take down our mainline into town. Last time we got 80 mph it took120 poles down.

We had a chair blown over on our patio earlier tonight. But we will rebuild.

Prepper advice: At night I wear a pen light on an ID lanyard around my neck. That way I always have a light handy without looking for one in the dark. It's primary purpose (beside not stepping on the cat) is for light to see to get to a bigger flashlight.
Hope you and the cats are safe

Landed in 60 mph wind at Ontario International Airport. That was an experience I'd rather not repeat. The plane was yawing and swerving all over on final approach. The whole cabin burst into applause when we got all the wheels on the ground. Then the captain came over the speaker and said, "Thanks for the applause. Not bad for my first day, am I right?"

Then I got my rental car, a little Mazda CX30 SUV. I love Mazdas and it's a nice little rig, but I can't figure out how the hell to make all the features work in it. I guess I'm not used to the modern world yet. I got checked into my hotel in Indio and now I'm just trying to wind down and get a few hours of sleep. I gotta be up by 0430 for work. There's supposed to be 50+ mph wind here tomorrow but it'll be 75 degrees and sunny...

A very long and tiring day in town today left home just after 8:30 am as the Tucson had to be into CSE crosscom just after 9 or a bit before 9:30am for communications equipment installation unlike previous times when I went on my own this time the other half was most insistent of tagging along despite it being fairly warmish outside today fortunately for her she was able to get ahold of her adopted mother (my mum) who was meant to be at volunteer work but was let off early due to only clothes needing to be sorted and made her way to town to pick up the other half

After a quick duck into Kmart for a spare portable phone charger having left mine behind and having a hot dog for lunch whilst waiting for other half to get her nail polish fixed by the nail stylist after that was done mum decided to drop me off back at crosscom as she had to go to Petbarn before going home

Upon arrival back at their office/workshop i was met with the 2 other techies of who are under Dylan my usual techie doing the finishing touches to an impressive installation that came from me saying be creative and let your imagination run wild needless to say they went up and beyond even though the bill tipped just over $$$$ i was given a discount being a loyal client for so long which rounded it down to $$$ all i owe now is roughly $743.72 after paying $200 upfront from the left over holiday money last year

Unfortunately they ran short of time to install the touch screen multimedia player as it would've taken a bit longer due to removing current single din cd player then cutting out the bottom sleeve making it a double din space so I have to chase up a place in town on Friday morning to see if i can be fitted in for installation hopefully next week

This is the finished product of innovative installation

Storms and power outage killed my starlink dish on Sunday. Picked up the latest gen kit from bestbuy on Monday after several hours of cleaning and moving furniture around and stuff (started around 6am and continued til after 1pm) Was woken up by mom around 2am on Tuesday bc she wanted me to set up my phone as mobile hotspot so she could play games.

Resumed cleaning around 7:30am Tuesday. Friend came out just before 5pm to install new dish on the antenna tower. I continued cleaning with a pause to remove the old modem, run cable for new one (different proprietary ends on the cables from gen2 to gen3). Friend left around 6pm while I was still cleaning. My back tapped out just before 7pm.

Took some naprosyn and rested while brother cooked for Mom. Went to BK to get shroom and swiss melts- I know it was around 9pm when I rolled into town. Ate at home and then went to sleep. Woke up from bladder yelling at me around 4am.

Friend got some good news and bad news on the house he's buying. Bad news is they don't have fiber internet but good news is he's cleared for closing.

Gonna try to get more sleep and then resume cleaning. I probably have 1 or 2 more bags to fill. Possibly 3. Mt Bottle Trash seems neverending.

I would enjoy following a thread on the casting project. My brother purchased a furnace crucibles etc at a yard sale and gave it to me.

Metal casting would be a valuable skill if things got funny.

Thank you

Ben
I have a gas furnace but can't use it here because they would freak out so bad! Not going to tell them about the small one! If the heat sets off the fire alarm, it shouldn't, it's no big deal, it happens all the time here. I'll see about doing a thread! Making my own green sand/formula.

I caught my husbands chest cold  And my head feels funny like I already took cold medicine and have medicine head :dunno:
I added extra vit D and zinc when the hubby got sick but I must've waited a bit too long
I was up early and had coffee and went right back to bed again.
Chest felt very slightly burning when I breathed in, now I have a cough so I'll take and expectorant.
He's feeling much better now so thats something
Gotta figure out something for supper
Probably not gonna do much today

It seems like everyday I have 2 goals. The first is to take a nap & I'm lucky if I succeed in that once every 2 weeks. The second is to do nothing & just lay around in front of the computer & maybe watch movies. If I'm very diligent I might finish a movie in 4 days because stuff just comes up.
Yesterday a tree guy came by to cut the top out of my tallest tree. The deal was he would cut the 2 dead limbs, stack the wood & clean up for #450. He had to rent a lift & had problems with it right off. Delay, delay, delay & finally someone from the rental place arrived & got it to working. So after a while he knocked & said that he was finished so I paid him & he left. I went back there & the wood was piled (my neighbor wanted it) but no clean up. I've got sticks all over that part of the yard. That wouldn't matter except I have 2 dogs that bring them in & chew them up. So I've got to go out in the cold today & rake & pick up sticks & every garbage can I have is full. I'll be using some empty garden planters to put them in. What a pain & in the cold too!

Oh & I have to be near a phone for "just in case" because my wife is driving 100 miles to see a doctor today & 100 miles back. As usual I told her to call me when she gets there & when she leaves (she won't) & to be sure to get back before dark (she won't). Grrrrrr~!!!!

It's snowing this morning, and so far no wind. I'll unload some lumber out of my truck and stack it in the new building, then move the truck to the barn to keep the rest of the lumber from getting buried in the snow. I'll continue working on the new building today. I'll frame in another window opening today on the west wall, then start framing the east wall.

Today... I'm looking forward to taking a written test, tomorrow.

Looking forward to a test??? Yep. I got a call this morning about a job I applied for. First step in the hiring process is taking a written test that will test my knowledge related to the position. Long test, was told it usually takes about two hours - yikes, but should be a breeze. Mechanic position with good benefits. Pay isn't great, but still good, and for a mechanics job - should be easy on my old bones, muscles and joints. First shift and close to home, no more driving through the worst part of town to get to work, like I do now when not laid off. Full time year around and room for advancement.
