What's everybody doing today?

View from inside the new shop building. Whenever I get the energy I'll rip some 1×12's down to 1×3's for batts and trim around the windows. I'll dig the snow out and start framing the east wall tomorrow.

Yesterday I vacuumed (with a weak stick vacuum that ran out of battery on me) up the spots I could get to in the living room. I need to go in more aggressively with the shop vac for some spots. Also need a carpet shampooer. I know I've had the shampoo type of vacuums but I can't remember if I ever used it for shampoo and vacuuming. I don't recall Mom ever doing that either. Even though the battery can run out, the cordless vacuums are so much easier to handle.

After vacuuming I went to help my friend and his wife move furniture and stuff to their new house.

This morning I cooked for Mom and brought in cat food for kitties. Waiting to see if friend needs more help moving. He just messaged to say the new fridge doesn't fit. I knew it wouldn't because I measured the height of his fridge and the distance from floor to bottom of cabinet and told him it wouldn't fit. He'll have to trim the upper cabinet to make it fit.

Not going to bombard with tons of pics, but this is the abridged version of what I had to deal with bc of Mom's nasty habit of just throwing trash across the room. My brother promised multiple times to clean it up and never did. I got tired of constantly trying to keep up with it and had a case of the "screw its" and didn't mess with it (bc I'd already cleaned it up 3x before and she kept making more mess). I did finally get her to stop throwing trash over there though.

To get ready for spring, I just ordered a bunch of super hot pepper seeds. I got some 7 pot pepper, Trinidad Scorpion, Carolina Reaper, Death Sprial and a few others. We'll start them inside probably in February on a heating pad and grow lights.

Thanks all. I'm going to have to negotiate with Mom on more cleaning bc she's super picky and sensitive about stuff on and around her desk. Last time I cleaned up on her desk she got really angry at me and accused me of throwing out her tax forms (which later turned up in her purse-- and she never apologized over that). I will probably just move on to working on the stuff on the other side of the room. No idea what to do with the stuff that is piled up in bins for now. We need to donate a bit of it and probably throw out some, but I have hoarder tendencies. I hate for things that can be used to be thrown away-- especially since we don't get trash pick up out here so we have to burn our trash.

To clarify on some things: I did set up trash cans for Mom and she kept throwing stuff on the floor anyway. Part of it was bc she was mad that my brother wasn't taking trash out and she expected him to clean it up. She also didn't like the placement & size of the trash cans (I tried various sizes and spots). So I got her large bags but she complained about them being too big. She just got so accustomed to throwing the bottles that she kept doing it. A few things happened to stop that. One was that she realized that I was the one who kept having to clean up the mess and it was hurting my back, I actually fell in that pile of bottles a few times while trying to retrieve something of hers that fell off the desk and on to the other side, she was unable to go get stuff that fell off her desk, and I got her smaller trash bags that she can fill up and I started taking them out regularly since my brother won't. She appreciates me a bit more now that I have to manage her insulin, CGM, and such. My brother is currently unemployed and his ONLY assigned chore is to take out trash but for some reason he doesn't want to do it and will say he's going to and then not do it for weeks and even months and eventually I have to take it out, but sometimes I have trouble bc of my bad back. He helped a little bit this time because he was motivated to be able to get the internet fixed.

Had to go to the store to get more cold meds for Mom. She's not feeling great. I'm hoping that getting her desk area cleaned off will help her respiratory issues. But when she's sick she doesn't make decisions and I have to wait for her to pay attention and listen and communicate.

Going to be helping my friend with more moving tomorrow.

Answered questions about my dad's funeral, which made me cry.

Tried to watch the Razorbacks play but couldn't.

Talked to Mom about how I feel.

Laughed at some goat videos.

It's tricky when someone does not want you to touch "their stuff". This was the topic of conversation at our house a few weeks back...me trying to straighten up husband's small office, because it is an eyesore and can be a hazard, and I have to walk thru it to get into our bedroom. The tools I hauled out that did not need to be in there, needed to be in the garage, made him mad. So I ended up putting everything back and I give up for now. It's ok for me to sweep in there, pick up empty cups, and empty the trash. Zannej, you'll just have to figure out what is ok to clean and what is not. Sounds like you're ok to pick up bottles though, I'd stick to that for now. Keep at it, though, sounds like your brother won't do it.

Tonight I'm hoping the swelling in my lower jaw will go away. Started a few ago years, about 10 years.... dentists and doctors couldn't figure it out. Even took a MRI, or started one, I bailed-out. They didn't give me any warning about what was to come, and then me pulled me out with tray full of drugs and needles.... I didn't know I was claustrophobic before that and then they wanted shoot me up chemicals. I was done, got dressed and walked out. Apparently insurance covered all of it. I never got a bill. But, they got a piece of my mind.

Swelling started again yesterday... bad enough it hurts. something had to trigger it. All that's different is I started using my humidifier. Tonight I changed the filter/wick pad. I was using an old one.

I'll look into that. I'm certain it is some sort of infection in or along the jaw bone. It's always somewhat swollen, but not to this extent. It comes and goes, and is near where I had tooth surgically removed.

I started Turmeric and Ashwagandha and few weeks ago, but it obviously isn't helping this.

Today is truly going to be an easy day. I did laundry yesterday & finished all of my tree work (the poor garbage men took 12 cans of limbs). My watch broke & couldn't be fixed so I bought a new watch at Sam's yesterday. I could have got it for half price on Amazon but that's where I bought the last one, which broke. I've got one quick trip to Walmart today for those things that hold sheets on the bed. After that I've got an auction to bid on & this one is going to be PAINFUL if I win. My wife is already talking about where we will put it. Whisky will be involved!

Back to work!! Cleaning my building and cleaning for my lady I missed Thursday! Need to set up a game cam at the front porch to see if Cheeto ( the feral cat) is still visiting! He (she?) tried exiting a cat house through a hole that was too small and briefly got stuck. Nothing serious, but it really spooked the poor kitty, haven't seen it since!! Not planning a whole lot later!

Pushing lemon/rosehip tea and honey for the vit C.
I had the whole horn section of the symphony in my chest and head last night.
Didn't sleep worth a damn.
Really don't feel like doing dishes but hubby won't touch them and they need done

Zannej, you are a much kinder and nicer person than I am (((hugs))) sorry you have to deal with all that. If that was me, I would kick them out ( if it was my house) unless they started picking up after themselves, or if it was their house, I would move out.....
When our son was about 11, his room constantly looked like that , and I refused to clean the kid's rooms after they got old enough to do it themselves or do their laundry. He just didn't listen. So one day I just took ALL his crap , clothes and all, toys, books whatever, and threw it in the trash and left him with an empty room...lol, he picked up after himself after that .

At dawn I'll take food out to the community cats, and give the chickens some water that isn't frozen. Church is closed, but the Pastor will stream it on facebook. An easy day in sweats and drinking coffee and reading.

Slept almost all of yesterday. Brother and I got chicken with rice soup from the Chinese takeout across the street and boy did that hit the spot. Woke up feeling pretty good but time will tell. Just had tea and toast and so far so good. Between Dad in hospital and my unfortunate GI issue, I've lost 8 pounds.

Just gotta get dressed, go next door and pay some of Dad's bills and get ready to go visit him. Brother, Heidi and I FaceTimed with him last night after his lady friend left. His speech is so much better--we can understand him and he is using more words. He looked really good too. Once the ng feeding tube is out and the belly one in, I hope to see better progress. He gets the belly tube tomorrow. Not sure if he has to go to a rehab facility. He has a long term care insurance policy (so glad he got that) that does cover home health aide so that may be an option. If not, then I want to try and get him into The Jewish Family Home here (they accept non-Jewish people) because the care there is outstanding and the cleanliness is off the charts compared to the other facilities around here. They staff sufficiently.

Heading to the Cigar bar this afternoon to solve all the problems of the world. I will miss not sharing with Bacpacker. He will be there in spirit enjoying it with us.

Good morning, forum members! It's another day out in the desert for me. It's surprisingly chilly here today, considering we're only about an hour from the Mexican border. It'll warm up to around 70 once the sun clears the hills though. I've got today, tomorrow, and Tuesday here and then I'll spend a night somewhere near the Ontario International Airport before my flight out at 0645 on Wednesday morning...

I had coffee, made bread dough for today's baking, and stripped the meat off the carcass of the old hen I killed and roasted yesterday. That hen was DELICIOUS btw, surprisingly tender for a 3 year old hen. She had quite a bit of fat on her.
I'm going to try and get some outside chores done today, there's some stuff I can do in the garden and I need to construct some sort of nestbox for the pullets in the turkey coop.

We let the goats out , will put the sheep out when it warms up some more in their pasture and debating on what to do with the goat boys. They need some fresh air and sunshine too but there is about 2 feet of snow in their pasture . We might just let them run around outside some supervised and put them back in
