Off Today! Need to shovel so the nurse can see the wife this afternoon. I over extended my left elbow on Saturday and now I'm having to improvise to get things done. I will need to prep for tomorrow mornings meetings, things kick off at 05:30 EST, so I want to be prepared. Tomorrow, I will be teleworking, can't make it down to the office in time to make the first meeting, it ends at 10:00. There is another meeting at 10 where the management will announce my job change. Heck of a note, teleworking on my first day in a new position, nice thing is I can skip that 3+ hour round trip commute.

I hope to be able to watch at least part of the festivities with Trump taking office. I am hopeful but nervously awaiting to see what happens when his team actually takes command. Sometimes that friendly fire can bite you in the end.

it's 8 degrees out just checked, and the stove stayed on overnight , I fed it around 11 ( sorry Pearl, I went right back to bed, no checking internet LOL) and husband got up early to feed it. Just started the kitchen one, and water is heating for the animals. We still have very low pressure but at least it is still flowing
So today trying to keep the animals alive, feeding and watering them in a little bit here. We are not even going to try to start the stupid Ranger, but will use the truck to move the water. If it doesn't start, we have a new battery ( the old one is still in it and has been starting)
so then it definitely should

I will keep an eye on the news and hope Inauguration will go without problems

The pup did the quickest go outside to potty I've seen. Snow today possibly and tomorrow, about 7 out right now, and going into the negatives tonight. But the fire is started already, had to clean out the woodburner first this morning. Will watch the swearing in, will survive outside chores, and will probably make cookies.

I am thinking I might bake something today too! Not sure what yet

It's a good baking day. I think husband wants another loaf of bread baked in the breadmaker powered by the solar generator in his office, so maybe 9 grain there. I've been thinking about chocolate chip cookies ever since you mentioned them last week. I still haven't finished that closet upstairs, that room is still a mess, but we'll see.

I am not going to bake bread...if I do we eat it all in a day LOL and my diet stops working
well, unless I bake something as part of the main meal
Would like to bake some sort of cake, I found something called Magic cake I might try, has a lot of eggs in it . I need to use some up we have too many

I made peanut butter cookies yesterday. I had one, Hubby finished almost all of them. I'm going to make some kind of basic cake or cupcakes today!!

Watch the Trump festivities and rethinking all my goals for brass trains. Big reset of priorities. 37f right now to go to 50f. Staying inside as much as possible.

A cake would sound good, too. Post the recipe to magic cake if it turns out good. We have too many eggs, too, so I made frittata for lunch yesterday. I could make some custard but then I'd be eating that, and cookies.
I ended up making a peach cake , will send the recipe if it turns out. The magic cake sounded a little like it might come out a soggy mess, so I didn't try

it was not as cold out as I expected! Sun is shining and no wind

It's 0621 central time, and I'm sitting at my gate waiting to board my flight to Denver. I'll connect to my flight to Phoenix there. In Phoenix I'll play the rental car lottery - What kind of car will I get this week? - and then drive 3.5 hours to Indio, CA. I would've flown to Ontario again, but we're scheduled to finish the Indio project in a few days and then move to the west side of Phoenix, probably on Sunday. So it made more sense to fly into Sky Harbor.

I put my name in on 4 job positions close to home. I'm getting to old for this traveling crap. I'd rather freeze my nuggies off in Iowa all winter, than waste 4 days a month traveling 1500 miles for work. All 4 jobs would be a $2.40/hr pay cut, but it's totally worth it to be near home, or at least close enough that I don't have to get on a plane to get to work...
I don't blame you for wanting to be closer to home. I got tired of traveling and being away from home too. Some of my work hitches were up to 15 months long with no time off and 7 - 12 hour days. Depending on where I was working it could be a total of 24 hours flight time, 24 hours of layovers, plus an 8 hour train ride and 3 hours in a truck to get to the work site. I'm done with all that now. Since I retired the only flight I took was to Hawaii.

Can you put a trickle charger on your Rangers battery to help it start in cold weather? Or put a heat pad under the battery. We use our side by side almost every day of the year.

We have a solar trickle charger on one of the golf carts that doesn't like the cold! It sure helps!!

Had 3 glasses of champagne in celebration of Trump's inauguration.

Then ...

Had to go clean leaves out of the pool ... 34* ... leaves were clogging the main drain ... partially frozen, even though the pump has been running 24/7 lately. My hands are now frozen, but the pool is spotless now.

Will start cooking dinner in an hour or so.

It was 4 degs this morning, should warm up to around 20 degs later. Checked the temp in the pump house earlier today and it was a perfect 41 degrees inside. Got a big load of hot peppers in the smoke house right now. It started out bright and sunny this morning, now clouds are moving in from the west. Hope that we get some snow today. We've had very little snow this winter, maybe 3 feet total. I haven't put the tracks on the side by side or the front plow on the tractor yet. Haven't needed the big snowblower either. Hope we make up for the lack of snow soon.
Going out to work on the chicken coop now.

We're eating celabratory choc chip cookies I just made. And the dog is staring me down fiercly, but he can't have chocolate.
Got the chicken bread in the oven. Got the 9 grain bread in the machine connected to the generator.
Mil called and asked how many eggs a day we're getting. She said eggs are $9 a dz where she is in California, and some stores don't have any. She asked why....
told her about the cullings, and also a few states passed laws Jan 1 that chickens can't be in cages, so there's that. West coast garbage.

My house cleaning and organizing has lead to 'document shredding day'. Boxes of old mail, records I printed and don't need to keep, etc.

On this inauguration day I wonder how much of that has happened in the White House in the last few days or weeks. I have a theory that they didn't shred documents, they incinerated them. The updraft created from the heat of the massive incinerator generated a vortex.... changing the jet stream and drawing down frigid arctic air.

Well the dentist I went to only gave me a referral to an oral surgeon I saw today for a dental implant.
They took an awesome 3D x-ray that the guy could move around on his screen and view from every angle!
Was amazed when they casually said: 'we don't accept Medicare'.
They require payment up front. Half the day of scheduling (today), and half the day of surgery, Monday.
They will file with the insurance company, and hope they reimburse me.
Total = $6,740. (Not including the $650 crown that the dentist must install later):eyeballs:
My credit card didn't even blink when they put the $3,370 on it today. :D
Thank god for MasterCard!!:woo hoo:
Well I got my broken tooth extracted and the implant installed. It has internal threads, (being a former mechanic, I love threaded inserts! 😍)
If something has a problem, you just unscrew it and screw a new one on.
They put a blindfold on you so you don't have to watch (I wish all dentists did that:() but I could hear him screwing the plug in that protects the threads until it heals and they can screw the post on it that will have the permanent cap glued on.
...oh, and since the second half of the cost was due today, I told them to add $1 to the charge to my CC, so the robot won't think it is a duplicate charge.
The lady said: you DO have your phone, right? because they will call you to release it?
Me> "Naaa, they luv me very much.😍".
...The second $3,154.89 flowed thru like butter:).
The expression of amazement on her face was priceless!!!

Glad I have 2 water tanks for the chickens. Put a gallon+ in the one I had in the laundryroom. Took it to the thirsty chickens and brought the frozen tank back to the house to thaw over night. Tomorrow... rinse and repeat!

Made it up to 30f but the wind cuts like a knife. No plans but indoor activities like dinner and tv.
