This morning I'll get the tractor out so I can start splitting firewood. I've got maybe a cord left to split and it's all froze together and covered in snow. I'll use the tractor to break the frozen mass apart and dig out the splitter. Then later I'll finish chipping out the frozen gravel so I can put in the last beam on the new shop building. We're supposed to get snow starting on Friday and for the next 7 days. I'll move the big snowblower out of the barn and get it ready to go, just in case we get the several feet of snow they're calling for.

I would not want that job today...had enough of frozen firewood. Will send above freezing thoughts your way.

I don't want it either, but we only have about a month's worth of firewood left in the wood shed. I've been burning all the scrap pieces from my building projects too, that helps some plus it's all fir lumber same as our firewood.

I drive my first transit route tonight. This is a very small town and the route is country. Basically combining two school runs out to the reserve villages.

School kids get on and off at designated stops and on time when I am done with them.

Transit is the grown up version and they may or may not be at a stop, may or may not know where they are going or even where to get off.

They get spoiled by getting dropped at home ect.. and expect to have their bags carried. Many are quite old so that is not a problem. The problem is to figure out if the person walking or staggering about wants to catch the bus, or do I need to keep going if they do.

Also, is the lady in the house slippers a regular eccentric rider, or is she the one who got out of the house when the care giver wasn't looking? I was told to pick up any one wearing slippers and which house the escapee needs to be dropped at. This all takes time so the schedule is a mere suggestion. Makes it kind of interesting.

It snowed around 18" last night and this morning and it's now turned to a light drizzle. The temperature is supposed to drop to -19 tonight.

"May you live in interesting times" really is a curse.

If the weather guessers are right, we could get up to four feet of snow out of this next storm starting Friday and continuing through to the next Friday. Could get more, or it could be false hope. Either way I need to spend today and tomorrow to get prepared for it.

Still splitting firewood. May have it finished tomorrow. The logs are really frozen together.

today was the first day in a long time we only had the kitchen stove on. Split and stacked some wood today ( for the next polar vortex or whatever they like to call the cold weather) and picked up some starter wood sticks taking Otto for a short hike. Short because it was super windy and I keep thinking a tree is going to fall on us
Entered most of the tax stuff and backed it up 3 ways LOL
Now making granola

One of these days I will clean the house but it is supposed to rain all day Friday ( which means muddy dog paws) so I will wait until after that

Did all of husband's med appts this afternoon and rx pickup. My favorite cousin called this morning, and we're doing an old person cousin luncheon at our place Friday, since husband doesn't really get out anymore. So her, her adult daughter (she's not old), and cousin Harry (her brother) will be here visiting for the day. That'll be a blast! I'll do some more cleaning tomorrow, and a little cooking, but mostly she's bringing everything. I'm excited to show her and give to her a postcard I found in my mom's stuff...written to my Grandpa Enos from her Grandma Demi (they were siblings). Hard to read, it's over 100 yrs old, but very cool. I did make out that Demi said she had picked some lettuce that was growing and killed a rooster for supper. Looks like she wrote it when she was still in Oklahoma. That will be fun to share.

Little granddaughter home not feeling well, lots of sickness at her school, so hope husband and I don't get it. Had her bus driver's cell phone number, so let her know not to bother coming out here. She doesn't seem that bad, though. She made a bagel and back up to bed. We had plenty of rain last night, I'll see just how muddy when the sun comes up. Plan on mudding thru animal chores today, and then house cleaning. Have the cousins coming for lunch tomorrow, so need to clean a few things up. My favorite cousin loves to walk the house. Ha. And I need to clean the porch and some windows. And figure out what I'm cooking, although I was told I didn't have to, except that she said soup would be good. Ha. Thinking potato soup.

Where's @Pearl ? I usually read a few posts of hers in the AM.

Today, I will walk first.
Walk dogs.
Call a couple of veterinarians to price dental work for our older chi.
Make a cheesecake to take to cafe on Friday.
Bible study this evening.
She was on talking about the plane crash a couple of hours ago.

I was up at 2 am with the storms, I was on then quite a bit! Caught a good nap between 6&7! Been playing in the mud with the donkey the past 30 minutes! Rain is done, beautiful day ahead!!

Somehow the clock on my phone changed itself to Eastern Time Zone overnight. I thought maybe the poles shifted or something when my phone showed 7.30 and it was still pitch black outside. Haven't been able to figure out how to change time zones yet. May have to find some kid to fix it. Stupid phone.

I think part of this should have been in the rant thread. Got the pump replaced but a fitting broke just before the shutoff (it was actually attached to the shutoff) in the laundry room. Yesterday I went to HD to get some fittings and today I fixed it-- although it turns out I had the wrong fittings. But I splurged and picked up a Ryobi pex cinch/pinch tool and its great. I can use it one-handed.

Filled all the waterers, flushed the toilets, washed my hands. Waiting for water to heat up so I can take a shower.

Sad news today, my favorite Uncle Melvin passed this morning. He turned 101 a few weeks ago. RIP Melvin Yoder. He was the last of the siblings with mom. His four sons were all around him as he passed. I'm glad for that.
I remember you posting about him!! Sorry for your loss! Glad he had his sons with him!!

Went out to fetch paint stripper and associated gear. I am going to try to strip the paint on the beam/mantle. I want to keep the rough texture.

Received and filed away a fresh set of lettuce seeds.

Managed vehicle swaps now that my brother's car is inspected. My son will barrow my brother's car and my brother will be borrowing my pickup. He is most likely to need the pickup. That will give me my jeep back and make me mobile without having to borrow my wife's car. I will also have access to all of the tools I keep in the jeep.
