Got stuck in this Midwestern winter storm last night. The Nebraska DOT shut down I-80 at Grand Island so I got a room to wait it out. The storm is done, but 80 was still closed at 11am and it was closed in most of Iowa. 80 is open here now, but still closed for 100 miles in Western Iowa, and US30 is still 100% snow and ice covered all through Western Iowa. I'm getting too old and grumpy to try to white knuckle my vehicle through 300 miles of crappy roads, so I said "Screw it" and got another night in the hotel here...

Better safe than sorry!! Glad you made the smart choice!! Keep us posted!!

Cleaned up in the living room until my body said Nope. Took some trash out. Broke up fights between kitties. Fed kitties. Went to the post office to get mail. Went to Walmart with my brother to get groceries. It would have been so much cheaper without him. Got home to unload and put away groceries. Brother has been better about bringing stuff in and helping to put stuff way at least.

I got Mom some new gloves so I could take back the ones she borrowed from me. My favorite gloves (which she borrowed) were from the 99cent store in Houston 20+ years ago. Really wish I'd grabbed multiple pairs now. Mine are black and hers are pink. I got her some that had a similar fabric. She'd been complaining about cold hands when sitting at her desk. The bright pink will be easier for her to find on her desk.

Maybe take the opportunity to catch up on some rest after working so much ( even though it’s hotel rest).

Dropped some things off at work, Chiropractor this morning, internet fella came to hook up internet- nope, trees blocking tower. There is a spectrum connection available so I will call and see what they say. Not excited about using them. Contractor stopped by to pick up the remainder of his tools. Unpacking/ organizing more. Have to go pick up Azure in just a bit.
I cut my thumb this morning so am now thumb typing with only one thumb 😜

Ultrasound appt this morning on my coratids, that was weird. Pharmacy pickup for husband, then walmart pharmacy pickup for me and some shopping. Bedroom cleaned up, bathroom cleaned, sheets changed, and where did my day go? No idea. it's still very windy out. Almost time to cook dinner.

I don’t know what that is but sure hope you don’t get kicked off the forum for using that kind of language 😂

Ha Ha, they're the arteries in your neck.
So I won't complain about going to the dentist. I went last week and they did a panarama xray of my teeth but saw my artery was clogged and told me to see a doc. So I did. And today was an ultrasound. And I flunked that, so I'm waiting for what's next.
I could get kicked off the forum for other things, I'm sure. Ha.

BE ALERT FOR POTENTIAL SCAM.....

I get text messages rarely on occasion saying something like ....Your package can't be delivered because of incomplete address, call xxbla-blaxxx to confirm blaa-blaa..... all supposedly from USPS... Keep safe..
===
Out this afternoon for a couple errands... Bright, sunny, north wind cold wind chill and 26F temp.. Streets wet after the 3" of snow.. At least we missed the 10" storm predicted.. Reports saying both I90 and I80 has been closed in different places with snow storms..

More time in the Hobbit hole dismantling a shelving unit in place. Flexibility required. Friend stopped over to inspect the progress and catch up. He had plans to get his car street legal which means I get my garage back. Yeah!

Met with our advisor to riddle how do we navigate a Fourth Turning without loosing our shirts. He reported all of the agencies he uses for research have stopped reporting the expected performance across the board. The "experts" have no idea where things are going!

Hmmmm....

Ended 2 paragraphs with an explanation mark.

Time to stop.

Pearl is rubbing off on you!

Work has had "community and school" leave time for quite a while, good for folks to use for chaperoning school field trips and so on, but 10 hours lost every year for those of us without kids. This year they expanded it to include religious observances, so I was able to use an hour of leave to attend Ash Wednesday services today. I like that.

My tomatoes have sprouted and are even showing some true leaves, so I'll be potting them up soon. Some flowers and a few peppers are also showing signs of life. Still want to start some more flats.

Found a beef roast in the freezer from 2022. Cooked it up today and it was perfectly good. Seared it, threw on some steak rub and garlic salt, sliced an onion over it and poured in a bottle of beer. Wow, is it tasty! Even better news is that I have another quarter coming next month from the same source. Need to keep digging and clear out the freezer before then, wonder what I'll find next?

Saw a lot of crazy weather across the country (I follow Ryan Hall) yesterday, some of it getting closer today. The UP is having blizzards; I have a flood because as of yesterday I still had a 2' snow pack and today it's pretty much gone. Thankfully this house was built up on fill, so not directly impacted but the sump pump is working hard and dog walkies were more of a wade. The high winds are supposed to hit tonight and tomorrow.

No electricity last night so I was up way past my bed time running the genny and keeping the sump pump going. Up extra early to fire up the genny again. Power came back on before 8. Accomplished very little today, no energy. Just switching everything back over to shore power, stowing gear and a few household chores.

No plans tonight but the usual...

Sorry about your thumb, hope your nail polish is ok😉

You must be physic. On the way home I turned the wipers on to wash the mud off the windshield, the wider blade split in two. I'll check tomorrow to see if I have a new pair in stock.
Not getting political, but most are made overseas and some things have been in sketchy supply. I had a spare set for each rig - they burned. I have lots to replace but it takes time.
