Didn't do much here today. It snowed most of the day. Had some pretty high wind gusts that would drop the visibility down to less than 10 feet. Supposed to snow all night tonight and all day tomorrow. I have to go out tomorrow and check some traps. Not likely I'll catch anything in this weather.
High high up the mountain are you?

Doing some early seed starting.. After saving all our yogurt and cottage cheese cartons I couldn't find them.....I think I threw them in a garbage bag to store and then threw the bag in the big dumpster I rented last fall.....Anyway picked up a bunch of the red solo beer type plastic cups and got a assembly line going with the renters 11 year old helping...
Half a dozen holes in the bottom with a small soldering gun.
Mix up a batch o my wife's special soil that includes organic potting soil, worm casting, organic fertilizer, sand and peat moss. Only got 50 or so done in between horizontal wind driven snow flurries. Starting the hardiest seeds or the slowest growing ones. Over the next month or so we will fill up our south windows and later get our small heated greenhouse and our big cheap greenhouse (first year) going...A long time till june when the freezing temps are mostly gone..

Good Evening - Good Night

Worked on milkhouse cleanout a bit today, hung heavy plastic on the door frames of the old greenhouse...below freezing tonight. Maybe the last time. Neighbor Marlon came by, chatted my ear off outside....price of cattle, how much does meat cost in the store...price to raise each calf over the winter since he didn't sell them all in the winter..processing fees places charge. All very interesting. He saved five calves to overwinter this year, eventually they will be hamburger, so we'll take half of one at least. He does his own processing with his wife's big family, they're all set up for it. He came back over after lunch and visited with husband, brought me his wife's bbq sauce she cans, needed husband's on line help for his business. They chat forever, so I brought eggs to the other neighbor and visited a while. She didn't need them, brought five dz, but her mom does. Came home and saw that Marlon tilled our garden area, so I'll be ready to get potatoes and snap peas in the ground in a couple weeks. Looks so nice! Game night tonight and we celebrated the dog's first birthday ha ha.

Today I am praying for everyone dealing with storms and fires!! I'm going to clean my building and run by Walmart. I'll wash my vehicles this afternoon and pamper the donkey a little extra today. He wasn't happy dealing with all the terrible wind and dust! Laundry is going now, I'll put it away later and I really need to vacuum! Bear could use a bath!!🐕‍🦺🛁

Thanks for that Pearl I spent today during the arvo monitoring Callendale (Fox) fire for a lil bit, in comparison to yesterday radio traffic was fairly tame with the CFA and Adelaide based crews being released to go home!!

In total over 600 ha of scrub, pine and blue gum plantation were burnt with local forestry and volunteer crews mopping up ahead of a potential spike day on Wednesday

Today, we are under a tornado watch, which has prompted us to stay indoors for safety. The skies have taken on an ominous shade, and the strong winds are making us uneasy. Given the severity of the situation, we’ve decided it’s best not to head to church this afternoon as planned. It's disappointing to miss out on gathering with our community, but our safety must come first. We’re keeping an eye on the updates and hope that the storm passes quickly. In the meantime, we’ll be prepared and ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors if needed.

Hopefully Wednesday isn't as bad as it could be! Keep us updated!

Glad y'all are choosing to stay safe first! I was just watching the South Carolina and Georgia weather, doesn't look nice. Stay safe and let us hear from you!!

Wednesday is forecast to be 31 degrees °C the only factor driving a potential fire ban is winds being N-NW between 15-30 km/h.

I'll be filling up my tti backup16 knapsack Tuesday as well as making sure the trailer pump is in good condition too if its needed in the worst case scenario.

Fingers crossed i don't need to use it

will have to catch up later, had the last 2 lambs late yesterday evening, and it appeared mom was not doing well. She didn't even want to get up much less take care of her babies. Gave her electrolyte, and tried to give her some grain, but the others ate it. So we cleaned out a stall in the goat area in the dark and put her and babies in there with food and water. I also fed the babies a little bit of colostrum replacers just to get them fed some. By that time mom was up and not pushing them away. Just checked, they are fine looks like
It's pouring outside so everyone is in and we need to rotate them around to clean
My foot hurts really bad but oh well ,after animal care I will sit and take a break and catch up here. No wait still have to cook ...

3/16... 10am CDST.. Bright, sunny, north breeze, 15F.... Friday night it rained about half an inch after a mid 70sF day.. Yesterday afternoon it sleeted snow just before dark as the temp dropped like a rock.. We were predicted to be on the edge of the rain, snow line and got a wee bit of both.. At best next week is predicted ...unsettled...

Putting a small corned beef in the slow cooker, onion, carrot, potato for later today.. Banana and coffee for breakfast.. Breakfast of champions..

Listened to the wind n rain alot last night..very chill Saturday night. I wanted to watch a few documentary but my bed was calling me early.

Today it's still windy n rainy out. I'm betting some local flooding will start happening soon.

I think today I will get stovie going again , do a bit more laundry and piddle about inside some more.

We got well over a foot of snow between last night and today. It's warming up some so it could turn to rain later today. We could get some minor flooding when it starts melting off, especially if it starts raining up here. I need to head down to the valley soon and check some traps. I almost have enough muskrat hides to make the wife a blanket.

Dehydrator is going with Ciltrano.
My Irishman is picking up sticks in his back yard.
We will putting them in his new raised beds.
Salad ingredients will be in the first raised bed.
He wants to talk about all kinds of things he thinks he needs as a "Soldier's husband"
So he's making lists, lists.
He also learning to budget more stricter too.
So now he lists fall under three categorties:
1. Immediate purchases: flashlights, sleeping bags, emergency food, first aid supplies water.
2. More supplies, better planning skills: raised bed, green house water .
3. Bomb shelter/ cellar .
It's funny to watch him, Estelle and Reign talk what they need for supplies for the safe room in the basement.
It's a learning experience for all three of them.
Me it's the way of life I chose along time ago.
