Country Fried Steak is the name for it. ;)

Publix (local supermarket chain in southeast) has a nice sale this week. $5.99/lb for sirloin steak, and lobster tails for $4.99 each. We had a nice dinner last night with this!

I do my country fried steak different. . . I soak my tenderized round steak in milk for a few hours first, then dip in seasoned flour, egg batter, then back into the flour mixture before frying in the pan. Then I make a cream gravy to go with it.

Celabrating my Grand Daughters 3rd birth day . So my Daughter and Son In Law are smoking a wild hog and making a 3 tier cake with the theme of Grand Daughters favorite show Frozen . We were told there will be enough of every and not to bring any food . Ill post how the hog turns out .

...................................

7 Hours later the hog was great . Yes it was a wild hog it was a boar and it was big . Despite what people say old wild boar is good .

Smoked wild boar is pretty awesome.

Wife made some homemade eggplant Parmesan last night (chicken Parm for me as I'm not a fan of eggplant). That and a nice garden salad made for a pretty nice meal.

I did a roasted wild boar on Sunday, but smoked is so much better for sure. Think anything smoked is awesome, but you do need some variety.

Today I fried up backstrap and made up some gravy with the drippings, mashed potatoes and some sweet corn. All from either the homestead or hunting, except the flour and salt. Those items had to be bought, so those are a couple of the items I tend to stock up on. It really is amazing just how much of both a family uses in a years time when you home make everything you can.

Yeah, we use a lot of flour, sugar, salt, olive oil, vinegar, and corn oil with all the cooking we do. When feeding 5, it's just more economical to cook all you can.

I know the thread has been quiet for some time, but I'll post anyways!
Had some bell pepper that I was worried would spoil soon, so I made Sweet n Sour pork.
It tastes SO much better than the store-bought sweet n sour sauce and the pork can be replaced with chicken!

Recipe (4 adults)

600g sliced pork
1ts chopped ginger
1 ts chopped chili
1/6 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
1/2 onion, sliced
1 sliced carrot

Sauce:
6ss sugar
4ss vinegar 7%
6ss soysauce
2ss tomato purê
1 box of annanas (I use lemon juice to taste instead)
2dl chicken stock
2ss maizena

Enough rice for 4 people.

Fry the pork on high heat until browned. NOTE: I usually fry the meat with the chili, chopped onion and ginger.
Throw in the bell pepper, onion and carrot and fry until you almost reach your desired consistency.
Pour in all the ingredients for the sauce, EXCEPT the maizena. Boil the mixture until all the sugar is dissolved. Turn the heat down a bit. Mix the maizena with 6ss water in a cup and pur the mixture slowly into the pan. Boil for a few more minutes and serve with rice.

That sounds really good. I was wondering what to fix for dinner tomorrow night. I'll go to the market in the morning and get the ingredients.
Tonight I had shrimp with garlic and lemon/pepper.

Sounds great, I make a Japanese stir fry that's similar. You can put just about any fried meat, veggies and sauce or gravy over rice and I'm in heaven! I'm not familiar with your measurements though. What's an ss and dl?

Tonight was homemade Mexican. I mix ground pork and beef 50/50, and season with taco seasonings. I cheated and bought the guacamole, but used my home canned salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and sour cream. It's quick, easy and good. I also have leftovers for the next couple days. Great for soft tortias or salsa chips. Also had a side of yellow rice. So much for loosing weight!

oh, I forgot to change the ss *facepalm*
ss = Tablespoon
ts=Teaspoon.
dl are deciliter. 1dl = about 0.43 cups (0.422675281986 cups to be about exact)

The deciliter I should have figured out, but the ss was Greek to me! I'll try the receipe and let you know, thanks.
My favorite quick dish;
1 lb ground beef, fry with one med diced onion and drain. On low to med heat add soy sauce to taste (about 1/4 cup), add the flavor packet from two beef flavored raman noodle packets, and about 2/3 a chopped head of cabbage. Fry just till the cabbage is still a little crisp, season with pepper and garlic to taste, and add the cooked Raman noodles and serve. I've been making this simple dish for years and have never had as many compliments from any other dish.

I'll probably make this later this week, got som cabbage left-over from making springrolls.

Ps! An explanation of the ss: ss stands for "spiseskje" which is Norwegian for "tablespoon"

I copped out and brought home a Walmart rotessirie chicken tonight

We do this too sometimes. Mostly as we get home late. We actually mix up some chicken bullion, melted butter, and herbs and use an injector to inject and baste the chickens, then heat them up. Yum...

For me healthy wraps
chicken with some spices on it,
diced tomatoes, onions, cumcumber
taco sauce
small portion of fries on the side.
The kids love it (after force feeding them a few times :) )

That sounds good. I'll have to try it some time. Today it was a hotdog sandwich. I'm trying to clean out the fridge and freezer in prep for moving.

tonight we'll be eating home made tacos, with store bought ingredients.we never tryed the taco shells with the flat bottom to them before.so we'll be trying them for the first time..

They generally work pretty good. Just be sure to drain your beef really well, as they won't hold up to a lot of grease (and you'll end up with two taco halves).

I took he last of the Walmart chicken, deboned it into a jar of turkey broth I had canned, threw in some chives, garlic, soy sauce, pepper and onion powder, threw in some instant rice and had a really good dinner tonight in like 10 minutes. I even have a bowl of it for lunch tomorrow. I always make my lunch for the next day as I'm cooking dinner.

Beef stew! One of my favorites :)
