I had no intention of getting it in the first place, but now I definitely will stay away after learning last week that my former assistant principal went into seizures and died after receiving the vaccine. My mother also does not want to take a vaccine that is so new. I can’t believe we have officially been stuck home schooling for an entire year now and I am concerned they will try to make the vaccine mandatory at schools though.

@Brent S

You will hate this post, but you should read it.

I find it very tragic that young people die because of this crap, but at the moment there is a lot of pressure on everything to get vaccinated.
One thing I know, if it goes on then soon everything will go up in flames, yesterday's protests in Europe against lockdown were really violent, since Polzisten were partially beaten up the government now wants to consider tougher measures.
If the government does not seek dialogue with the people here and continues to rely on dictatorship and will raise the army, then the civil war begins very quickly. May be that is even desired here, but by the government itself.

I thought Texas schools were open, LexiRae? Kansas schools where we are closed for Nov and Dec, but are open now. Our grade school never closed at all. But then again, we have no covid patients in the hospital in the closest town of 44,000. We have band and sports going on in the Junior and Senior High Schools, our grandkids are in both.

Amish, our school district had a waiting list to get back in the classroom. It was finally our turn to go back when the “new variants” of covid started popping up and the school said they won’t take any more in person students for now. Also, if you are absent for any reason, those students lose their in class spot and have to stay virtual. My nephew’s school has been open throughout the entire year but he is on the other side of town.

Well that stinks. I think the teacher's unions are causing these problems.
And that's dumb about the variants. There's variants with even the flu every single year, of course there will be variants. Doesn't mean that they're worse.
Laughing about reading remarks from the unions about the Los Angeles School Districts. They won't go back, and then telling their teachers not to post photos of them on Spring Break partying it up with a bunch of people because it'll make their argument of not opening classrooms look bad.

Wife got hers today. I am passing on it. If it works, then I won't need to get the jab, as heard immunity should have kicked in. If it does not work, why bother getting it? Time will tell and I will take my chances.

wife has had the jab because once lock down is over she goes to more places than I do because of her research and book writing, I'm very much a home bird and dont go far these days, even before Covid.

I personally decided to get it, as I have underlying health conditions, and I was (as a government worker volunteering at the Disneyland Point of Distribution), eligible to get it early. I decided to get it because I intend to start travelling and it will most likely be a requirement to do so. I initially thought I would wait and see, but after having some family members and friends get the virus, I changed my mind. I guess I will be a guinea pig for ya'll... I got the Moderna, in case anyone cares.

My wife gets her first phizer vaccine tomorrow morning and I get my first one on Friday. I don’t know which one I’ll be getting yet. I am so ready to start taking some trips right now. So, about three weeks between shots, and about three more for the immune system to kick in and I’m out of here for some fun. It’s been a long year since this virus changed the world. I’m ready to go see what’s left of the world.....

You can't travel without the shot? I don't understand the connection. We still travel anywhere we need or want to go.

There aren’t any laws that I know of against it but with my and my wife’s health issues I don’t think it would be wise. Odds are if either of us got the virus we would survive, but the odds of having a mild case after the vaccine are greatly increased so it makes sense for us. If I was thirty and in perfect health I wouldn’t feel the same though.

I read earlier that there are about 50 cases worldwide being investigated for any reactions that were more than the normal range. Of those, half will be attributed to other causes Likely. So, yes there are some risks to taking the vaccine. But for individuals with advanced age or health concerns there is a much higher risk of not taking the vaccine. If this was a hand of poker I would bet those odds every time.

@Brent S

Believe me, even with vaccination you will not get all the rights back that you had before, that is a great promise, but it will also be broken. You will probably have to vaccinate yourself every 3 months in the future because a new mutation occurs again and again in which the "experts" say that another vaccination is needed, you can then just as well poison yourself because the vaccine does that in the long run . But I wish you the best of luck with your vaccination, I understand your motivation and I can fully understand that, because it should be the decision of everyone for themselves, but I don't see that about freedom, here the signs are that vaccination does not give you any great freedoms worth mentioning.
At the moment, the government is openly and directly provoking a civil war among the population, unfortunately there is no other way to say it.

lots of countries in Europe, I think about 12 at last count, have stopped the AZ jab because of blood clots.
I think the evidence is still pretty scarce on it causing the blood clots but have no problem with halting and investigating. It’s better to be safe than sorry. If I was young and healthy I might consider not getting the vaccine. But with age and health issues the statistics say it’s much safer to take it than not.
