Sorry, but this all sounds like creating more JOBS.

I'm wondering how it will create WORKERS.

Demand is already higher than supply from everything from janitors, to doctors. I do think he will create more demand as you say, but its the supply side I don't see materializing.
I got your point. There's been a worker shortage ever since the Covid Shutdowns when workers were paid to stay home. Now because of the back-log, and still supply chain shortages.... there should be more jobs than there are workers. We're in recovery mode now, there's a lot factors in play about how well it's gonna happen and in what ares, and how fast.

Yes, new workers will appear. :)
When a basement boy gets an email from his online buddy saying that he won't be online all day anymore because he got a great job making $84,000 a year, you will be able to hear the sound of another PlayStation hitting the floor.

A: What untapped skill does that basement boy have?

B: Sounds like a recipe for massive inflation and supply shortages.

Yes. I hate to say it, but Mexican Builders in New Orleans are spectacular. A lot are not US citizens, and many do not have a green card.
But, a lot of them are fast construction workers, fearless on roofs, rarely have job injuries, and KNOW construction.
Montana needs to build houses, plain and simple. They need to figure out if they want multi-family and or smaller houses to heat/cool that are affordable. McMansions are not one size fits all and are not realistic anymore. People who banded together during Covid, moved back in with family, and people on government assistance, were not willing to go back out there again if they didn't have to. The Meth & Fentanyl crisis exploded too, so there's that. So, (not to be crass, but) if you are on drugs and can spend months in granny's basement gaming...then why go be a barista, make pizzas, or mop the floors at the hospital, for example.

You mentioned lack of doctors... New Orleans had the same sucker-punch after Covid, because many had been in practice for awhile, and the large Hospital Conglomerates wouldn't give them their privileges if they hadn't gotten the Jab. My beloved family doctor hung it up and retired (early)- - as a lot of doctors did. No one was given credit for the best Covid fighter - - God-given Natural Immunity. Doctors know this - - and like the rest of us....nobody wants to be bullied. Now, the Conglomerates are requiring new doctors (and nurses/staff) to get the Jab even though it's not necessary for the disease. (The Moderna Covid vaccine caused an epidemic of myocarditis/deaths in young and middle-aged men - - and the UK banned it.)

Doctors are going to be a hard thing across the country to wrestle with to increase numbers. The malpractice rate in the country is 50% according to the insurance companies. Hospitals have begun to hire PAs (Physician's Assistants) who go through a 2-year program out of college, can see patients on behalf of a "supervising doctor" (that the patient NEVER sees) but the PAs can WRITE PRESCRIPTIONS. However, none of them want to write narcotics, and for that you would be referred to a pain management MD, and make a case for any narcotic. Times changed.

He's right. Basement/Couch Rider Boy can work as a pusher on a rig, or a deck hand, or fire-watch at a processing plant - - they'll be finding first lower-level good paying jobs, where they are surrounded by other guys making six figures - - and they latch on and move up.
"Supply shortages" will not be felt due to lower transportation costs - - it'll get there -- and it will be on time. That is the part of the rising tide we spoke of earlier.

Indeed......so again...seems like trump is going to create a shortage of them...

Yep. Very common to see just this, grandma and all among my 'customers'. We have Burger King offering $15 an hour and the lobby is always closed because of lack of workers.

I HIGHLY doubt any of them would be willing to do that, even if he could.

I guess we all get to see, but I see that rising tide as a tsunami that will destroy everything if it hits.

I do think its all doomed anyway....this is just going to accelerate it.

The ability to show up for work.
In the oilfield jobs down here, workers have to be trained to do their jobs anyway.
...And she ain't lying about about the $84K starting salary, I will be happy to post want-ads showing that.

There are plenty of good high paying jobs around, even for no skilled workers. A person might have to move to where the jobs are. I worked is several different states and several foreign countries during my career.
When I worked in the oil fields, and in locations where there was no housing available, we set up man camps for the employees. We provided room and board.
Nobody is going to get ahead by sitting on their arse whining about how hard life is.

He made some good points, you too.

I'm not an economist, but it sure interests me. I think we all saw the recipe for massive inflation with the forced shutdown of our economy. Not to mention all the 'incentive' payouts resulting in workers actually getting paid more to stay home than go to work. It doesn't take a rocket scientists to see how we got here, and that those PlayStations to be soon hitting the floor were bought by Uncle Sam.

I kind of have it made here because I can ride-out my seasonal layoff and go back to work surviving ok making only ~30k .... most aren't that fortunate. But.... I do have opportunities to double that, I don't see 80k plus for general labors though, regardless of training. Not here.

Montana almost seems like it's happy the way it is. If Montana wanted more population, they would promote that.
It's cold there - - so they would need to promote people to their State to overcome that, and make their transition easier.
Mexicans don't know how to drive on snow typically. They wouldn't know about chains on tires, etc.

The lumber prices WILL go down, the transportation for the materials to get there WILL ALSO go down.
Their Tech Schools could promote the TRADES to people and give incentives to Builders to have Apprentices,
if there's not enough construction workers. But, Montanans seem happy with the status quo.

Over 10 years ago my general labors made $35/hrs with guaranteed 44 hours per week overtime. Plus they got 6 months vacation and room and board while at work. That came out to around $96,000 per year. Some mechanics made $150,000 per year.

Best I've ever done was $28 per hour. With all the overtime (as heavy equipment mechanic) I was on schedule for about $85k. Life was good and I liked the job, but then I really didn't have much of life with nearly two hours on the road travel time daily. Still.... I'd do it again, for about four years and then retire comfortably.

We still have job shortages in Southern Louisiana - - between 40 and 200 people applying for one job.
But we feel all that is about to change due to Trump's policies.
We've been waiting (many suffering) for 4 years. A few more months holding out for the upturn shouldn't be that bad. (We hope.)
Hope thing improve in your area but I think you are very much an optimist. Trump is just one guy and his limit is 4 years, plus the congress and the courts. He is not a dictator so his power is limited. Half the government is fighting him with everything they have. Plus even if he was a dictator, he could not make the debt/deficit go away. I don't know what exactly you think he can do to make that happen. He can improve things, he can maybe push the problems a little into the future, but I doubt he can fix them. It would take a lot of sacrificing on everyone's part, everyone's standard of living would have to go down too. No politician will ever tell the real truth which is this: you cannot pay for massive social programs, unless everyone pays very high taxes. You cannot pay for a military that controls the entire planet, unless everyone pays very high taxes.
I am watching gas prices and meat prices for now, gas was $2.89 when he got into office, last week I got gas and it was $2.73 but at a different gas station. Meat I don't buy much since we have our own, but I did buy pork ribs, around $11 for a large package at Walmart
Mcdonals has had a " hiring all positions" sign up since Covid

No one is right, we're all doomed, enjoy the show and quit throwing peanuts on the stage!
LOL, yeah, you are most likely right, we are all doomed ....but what irritates me is that some liberals seem to have this idea that THEY could improve things, when all they do is make everything so much worse every time they come up with a new idea . Only a country determined to self destruct would push "woke" policies and let every piece of trash from everywhere across the border.

American style liberalism is just THE worst type of government short of a dictator like North Korea has. It's not even REAL socialism like they have in Europe ( everyone pays but everyone benefits too) , its fake socialism that plays off different groups against each other while the politicians get rich. What a bunch of crap! Trump is the first politician that is trying to do something about the current crappy system.
