I cant find the post about bad or lucid dreams that was post this past week.
I had a very disturbing dream so looked up possible drugs that might be causing such a dream.
Thought this might help however posted.

Antidepressants

  • Fluoxetine (Prozac) and other antidepressants can cause nightmares
  • Tricyclic antidepressants can cause nightmares
Blood pressure medications
  • Beta blockers, such as propranolol (Inderal LA), can cause nightmares

  • Statins, such as simvastatin, atorvastatin, and rosuvastatin, can cause nightmares
Recreational drugs

  • MDMA (Ecstasy) can cause nightmares and sleep disturbances
  • Cocaine and amphetamines can cause nightmares

Other drugs

  • Melatonin, an over-the-counter sleep aid, can cause nightmares
  • Chantix (varenicline) can cause nightmares
  • Donepezil, used to treat Alzheimer's disease, can cause nightmares
  • Reserpine can cause nightmares
  • Anti-Parkinson drugs, such as levodopa, pramipexole, ropinirole, and bromocriptine, can cause nightmares
  • Steroids, such as prednisone and methylprednisolone, can cause nightmares

I'm on at least half of that crap! no wonder I trash my bedroom and wake up screaming! My idiot shrink says there is no connection, I'm awake right now because I dreamed of a nuclear war AGAIN!

Psychiatrists are medication managers. They monkey around with medication util they find the right combination they think will work. We have been down that road with disasterous results. We were lucky to find the right medication which seems to be working.

IMHO a Psychologist that will find the underlying cause of the problem is a better option. My son sees both, and has a far better relationship with the Psychologist.

A very good friend of mine back home is a psychologist. She started after her psychiatrist degree but did not because of that reason.

I don't take any of that stuff, and still have nightmares of my past job. And I've been retired for 10 years. Must have pstd or something.
I do too. My work-van is in every one of those.
The last one, they had found where I lived, backed it into my driveway and were taking pictures of it to post on the web.
They had put all kinds of warfare and computer gear in it, and even mounted a twin-gun turrent on the cab!
They were telling each other how to word their articles about "Finally finding the Bad Guy!".
...and that is just ONE of my bad dreams.:(
