Lots to say about those early Fords.
They were formidable competition.
If you were not on your game, the 390's would gladly hand you your ***:hit head:.

Been a bit....(working out of town, again) LOL

Those cars from the '60's..........were so much KOOLER! GM had lines of 'em. Chevelles, 442's, GTO's, Gran Prix.........etc.

Mopar had the 383, 413, 426 (Wedge & Hemi), 440........ Chrysler Newport with a 440 Super Commando........that would get it!

FoMoCo had the Galaxie 500's!! Mustangs, Comets ....and .............DYNO DON!

Formidable yes but could not stay with the early Dodge 426 max wedge.
Yes, but those were fairly rare.
Now THIS on the other hand:eek:, with the premium-fueled, high-compression 390, were EVERYWHERE!
