week 28 day 1

the calorie bombs are not over yet ...some friends are supposed to come over tomorrow and I am making another cake , probably same one I made with eggnog ( have a little bit left) but peaches instead of mandarin oranges. Plus going to make the sauce for the lasagna and foccacia bread.

Today some vegetarian soup with potato pancakes

week 28 day 2

I am going to make all the lasagna for us, and freeze some of it for later when babies are coming and I don;t have time to cook
Debating on if and what I should bake. I shouldn't but not it a great mood, so I might to cheer myself up

Will weight myself in a few days , don't have the nerve today LOL

this is the lasagna I made, absolute the best lasagna I ever made!! Made it exactly like the video except I didnt have fresh basil, so I used dried italian seasoning
( 1 pound pork ribs, 1 lb hot italian sausage, 3 large cans crushed tomatoes)
It took a few hours to make the sauce and a few hours to bake the lasagna

hiked...it was nasty raining and wind howling...i sat in truck a bit at trail head and waited about 10 minutes...it let up so i hit it...i was rewarded in about 10 more minutes of beautiful bluebird sky and drifting white puffy clouds the rest of time....what a beautiful afternoon...50f !

My own eating habits have not gone as well as they should have of late. I need to quit eating the junk food.

About 9 years ago, I went low-carb / keto and lost about 100 pounds. That was huge for me and I've kept off most of it. The last 6 months or so, though, I've been too inclined to "cheat" if you wanna use that word. Basically, it means eating things that I know I shouldn't. Usually, it's for social reasons. "Oh, I've made some of my famous bread pudding, you have to have some." "Oh, I've made chewy man-sized chocolate chip cookies, here, have two, and a pint of ice cream to go with." Etc, etc. "Special occasions." Breads, pastas, potatoes, all stuff I love, not just desserts. Eating out. Friends having us over. The step-son coming to stay with us for a while.

But the scale is warning me that I can't keep that up. I feel so much better when I leave that stuff alone but I get very annoyed that people (my dear wife included) seem to want to poke all of that stuff at me, knowing that I love it. It's a whole lot easier to just give in and eat some but I am not the kind of person that can eat a little. I find it easier to not eat any than to eat a little and when I do eat a little, I want MORE! And I've found myself giving in a lot more than resisting.

I play jazz piano. And I have discovered that I am on top of my game, alert, play well, have my best energy, when for about 24 hours prior to the gig, I eat basically clean carnivore. A typical meal before a gig is something between 1/2 and 1 pound of beef (usually hamburger patties), and 2 or 3 eggs cooked sunny-side-up. And that's it. No veg, no bun, no carbs, no sugar. I feel great with loads of energy and focus. It took me a bit to figure that out. Previously, I'd been finding myself running out of energy and reaching for a sugary drink or a caffeinated drink (or both) trying to keep my energy and focus going through a 2 or 3 or 4 hour gig. And then I tried the above. Now it's water only while I play and I feel great, even after a 4 hour gig. I'm not hungry, either. Might not be for everyone but it definitely works for me. Funny thing, even at some of our gigs, people wanna poke food at me. NO! Just NO!

T'ain't always easy. :/

Glad it works for you, good luck!! I would die if I had to eat like that
I think I would literally get sick if I had to eat an entire pound of meat and 3 eggs , wow

Thanks, it does work for me. I wouldn't think of telling anyone else they need to do that. But I used to poopoo the carnivore diet, too. Heck, 10 years ago, I was a vegan... a very unhealthy one.

I just need to cut out too much bread and desserts to lose weight and not eat after 6 pm, but I haven't done that lately
But I don't eat junk food.

To me, "bread and desserts" ARE junk food. LOL!!

I get it, though, we all have to find our own path. Best of luck! :)
I bake my own bread mostly, and make the desserts, not junk food. Chips, store cookies, mcdonalds , soda is my idea of junk food
You can eat bread and desserts if you limit how much you eat, a slice or 2 are ok, half a loaf not. Same with dessert. One slice of cake is fine if you don't do it every day, but half a cake obviously not. It's portion size. LIke today, I had a large amount of collards, a medium amount of one eyed peas, 1 slice of cornbread, 1 piece of pork belly

hiked...it was 37f and wind...i had to push myself to go...started out down trail and it was pretty chili in my shorts.....lol....but by time i got down it a bit the wind was blocked by ridges on my sides...then sun popped out....then it clouded back up...got back to truck and was far less wind...it was nice....had to go today...cold snap coming this weekend and then middle of next week too.

so i wasnt a loser today by not going...might be soon...not sure if i get to go tomorrow....we shall see.

only 1 squirrel today.
