I am glad that you can put in a pond without getting hit with the government naming it a wetland area and controlling what you can and must do on the ground surrounding it. Here in Washington the state steps in and controls the amount of shade you have to have, what structures you can have and how close they can be to the water.

I didn't realize that. I do know that one of my cousins was able to get help from the government relative to a dry creek he kept adding up all the rock he could find on his property, creating a dam (with government help), and then a very good sized lake when it filled in. They have gotten herons, egrets, whooping cranes, geese, ducks, and other birds. Adding in his three shelter belts west of the pond/lake, he gets a fair amount of white tail deer and pheasant on his property. A few years ago, a moose went through the area, which is unknown in the state of South Dakota.

Our water table is pretty high where I built my pond and the sub soil is high clay so any moisture makes is slick as elephant poop. But every so often we get a drought situation and it totally dries out so I can get down into it with the tractor to make it deeper. :) I still can't get fish to survive in it but then I don't have an aerator or agitator in it to oxygenate the water. It still amazes me how fast the trees grew in around it.

Hello everyone and updating yesterday is that we finished our 6 weekly grocery shop and went over budget, sigh, as we had stocked up on specials before Christmas. Oh well some tightening of the belt is required to get the budget back into surplus again for the next few months. I also purchased 2 pairs of shorts for myself yesterday as I only had house ware ones left and purchased 10 solar lanterns to replace the ones we use here that are just about worn out after 18 months of use.

We got home and dated and put all the groceries away. DH swept the house for the week and gave my hair a cut, I cut the fringe, so it is much shorter now and so much cooler as the temperatures here are really high with yesterday being 40 oc. Now my hair has done it's usual thing and gone insanely curly and wavy which I just go with on any given day as I am allergic to hairsprays and the like so just brush it down with warm water and hope for the best :D .

This morning DH is just about to water some of the back lawn and driveway with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine and then it will be off for a lovely morning at church.

Have a great day everyone :) .

If I didn't have water rights I would probably be shut down

Yay! Finally! Range time with hubby! Trying out my new scope and some new loads in my 204. So excited to be having some time off and decent weather.
Glad you're well enough for some play time with the Hubby. All work and no play makes getting better a less meaningful experience when getting better means that you can do more work. LOL
