I would have thought after the past two years it's humans we need to be careful of. It bugs me when boards have control about what you do on your own premises.
How many of them washed their hands before sitting at the table I wonder? Sorry. Should be in the rant section, right?

I have land that has been in my family for eighty years, when I inherited it, I did not sign a contract saying what I could do.
You move into town/city, house development & buy you, you sign a contract & give up some of your rights. Once you sign for HOA, they own you, that why people go off grid.
This varies from state to state, & HOA to HOA.

Posting twice is easy, just delete the 2nd one & say ooops, at least that what I do. I grown a lot of different onions & garlic, is shallots harder or easier than garlic & onions?

I grew them the same as the onions. I didn't realize that they got that big though

Decided to pull three of the weed plants this morning, I think they're about as ready as they'll ever be... I left the fourth plant in place because it looked like it could use a little more time. I now have weed plants hanging upside-down over the garden tub, high enough so the pesky kittens can't reach 'em, lol. Gonna trim 'em later and check out the spears... there are some burly bud spears on these plants. The other day, before I watched 'THE PROTECTOR' on DVD, I pinched some bud off one plant and smoked it, curing it in the bowl of my glass bong, lol, and that bud was STONY... like it's already heller potent and doesn't need any more time. It was a good happy high too, I felt like a million bucks and laughed my @$$ off at the martial arts flick. Some friends I know back on the coast are gonna get early Christmas presents this year, lol... big ol' spears sent via FedEx, no gubmint mail and no UPS strike hassles. Well, guess I need to get cleaned up and head to town to resupply, I feel like having some spicy-hot homemade chicken burritos tonight, using store-bought Hatch chiles and some of those HOT peppers off the Jalapeno bush in my yard. Those little red suckers on the bush are hotter than Georgia asphalt in the summertime, lol...

Okay, here we have shots of the damned-near-footlong Alamogordo bud spears which I harvested today... as you may recall, I have done NOTHING except amend the soil at the outset & water these plants, so they are entirely organic and also quite potent. They've been growing under the hot New Mexico sun for the past few months, and even though some local hand said not to harvest until October, I think they're ready... the spears are sticky with resin, and the sample I tried the other day was definitely potent. In the past, when I grew dope illegally, I topped the plants and trimmed or pruned 'em as I went along, but I couldn't be bothered with doing any of that this time around: I simply stuck these plants in the ground to see how they'd do, and since dope growing is now legal, I didn't have to worry about any hassles from Johnny Law. Here we go with the weed shots, I'm not done trimming the bud spears but I'll get around to it, and all the leaves I cut away are going into some brownies, I bought two different kinds of brownie mix at the store today, lol. Right now, those leaves are in a paper lunch sack, where they'll stay until they're dry enough to add to the brownie mixes: 'Supreme Original' and 'Salted Caramel' Brownie Mix(es) courtesy of Betty Crocker, I reckon ol' Betty would blow a gasket if she tried one of these pot brownies I'm gonna make... or maybe she'd just mellow out and join me on the leather couch, lol.

I still have the fourth and largest plant in the ground, I'm probably gonna wait till October to harvest that one, just to see if there's any appreciable difference in quality. I know these bad boys are strong enough to rock someone's world, and I'm gonna send some of each plant to good friends still stuck in the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia. With each care package, I'll throw in an early Christmas card, lol. But first, I'll finish curing & trimming the spears, as "presentation" is important in such matters, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I reckon those pals of mine will be surprised!!! Y'all can think whatcha want, this whole weed-growing venture was merely an experiment in soil amendment, and judging by the results, I'd say the soil amendment worked, lol. And now, here's a message from my three weed-growing sponsors:

P.S. Don't mind the background in those weed pics, that's the master bathroom which I have not yet painted... the towel racks will be relocated as well, but I already said that in a different thread, lol.

Dug one of my beds of taters tonight. In a 4' x 6' bed I got a quarter bushel of yukon golds. Also pulled a dozen or so parsnips. several peppers, a good mess of okra (1st of the year). Also got my last little punt tomato. I'm sure gonna miss them.
Still got a 4' x 12' bed of yukon golds, row of kidney beans, row of great northern beans to pick. We'll be getting peppers and okra till frost.

I'm ready to build my last raised bed, unless I decide to add even more. Take down my cow panels I had the maters planted to climb. Top all the beds off with compost. And either plow the garden and sow with annual rye, which I'll likely do with about 1.5 of my gardens spots in the bottom. And subsoil the other 1/2 spot to plant in next spring

I pulled up the last of the posts today. Got the lines and tomato cages from the garden. Got the barrels out also. Just waiting for my peppers to stop producing before plowing it all under and call it done for the year.

My son turned dry hard dirt this Spring & put a trailer load of rotten horse compost in a 4' X 20' bed, with gypsum & other elements.
He has two sweet million salad tomato vines, covered with ripe tomatoes, green tomatoes all sizes & blooms. We had a hard time picking some of them, because the vines are a tingle mess, out the top of the wire cages, that you can not longer see the wire.

Amazing what some good compost will do. My tomato beds had a 5' cow panel on top of them. Tomatos climbed up and eventually back down, to the ground and ran out a ways. We had tomatos every where.

The terror of a grandson of ours would have a fit looking at that plant. Found yet another stash of mixed tobacco and weed in his room. He's making pipes out of empty magic markers and bingo stampers now. I threw out all the ones he made out of tin foil and empty soda cans. Oh well. I would think a pipe made out of that plastic would cause brain damage.
Our tomatoes have grown all over the place, they are a jungle everywhere. I need to try and make something stronger with cattle panel or rebar next year. We have about 20 loaded plants right now. Difficult to pick growing in giant bushes like that.

My tomatoes are done, they still had fruit but I pulled them anyway.... I have started the switch to winter gardening planting winter crops and such. I have framed that main wall for the screened in area I have planned at the walkout basement. My stupid okra came in late and it is now producing, but I need to pull the bean vines that are behind them... I will let it go until the okra is done.

Starting to worry I might get an early frost. My Tobasco peppers are loaded but they refuse to ripen. They've looked like this for 2 weeks. I got a few dozen that were red or orange today. Also picked a few jalapenos and serranos. I'll get them into the dehydrator tomorrow.

You can cover them for the first frost & pick them green if need be.
Not the best deal, but better than lost of all.

No early frost, a La Nina has developed, warm winter in the south, southeast!!

I am making significant progress on my green room at my basement walkout, I also added a Valve at my irrigation distribution center so now I can easily turn on the water to the valves and then turn on the pump, once watering is done I can shut off the pump and close the valve, this will stop the system for siphoning my tanks dry.

I had 4 large onions this spring that had sprouted and were too soft to use. I stuck them in a large pot on my south deck. I got 23 small onions and one that I can only describe as a clove of onion.

Also noticed some very small flying things... maybe nats. Going to deploy some DE to see if that helps.

I restarted 2 types of lettuce. One version sprouted. The other no. Then the sprouts just up and died. Reseeded and no sprouts.

Time will tell.

The site was acting up earlier and I couldn't type my message.

I have found those fungus gnats are a real nuisance. On my long term plants I have been using paper plates and those sticky gnat traps to try to control it.

I was hoping to get a lot done this week, but the wife ended up having 3 appointments (Mon, Wed, Fri) which really reduced my "free" time....

And it finally happened. Been getting a ton of green beans, okra and peppers doing ok on cucumbers, zucchini and squash. Yesterday we picked four tomatoes (and from the looks of it, we'll be doing that a lot over the next couple of weeks). I was out of the state for most of the summer, and the summer heat took it's toll. But the plants looked good, just never produced. looking to place some peas, carrots and potatoes to see if a fall garden can be viable.

Valid point.

This is a new space for my indoor growing and that is why I have logging the hi lo temps.

I have to figure out what I can do to cool it down. I may have wait until the outside temps drop as a stop gap for now.

The DE may have had an effect. I only saw one when I checked things today.

Our temps are too hot for lettuce and spinach right now as well...in the greenhouse and out. Maybe next month. Our tomatoes are doing well, and I've got lots of peppers and bell peppers that need picking.

never give up till snow covers the garden...lol...silver king corn,been picking silver queen corn also.Cherokee trail of tears pole beans and Cherokee wax beans. picked a few to try and the rest are for seed production.they are loaded.hope they all make seed.
