Granddaughter and neighbor girl are making the spike strips right now. I couldn't find them on line. Husband hooked up new monitoring systems. I'm measuring dowels for window jambs. The girls took long 2 by 4's and nailed in some big ol nails. They are burying the 2 by 4's under the windows and back a little ways. The neighbor girl is a hoot, we know her well. She said we should consider coating the nails with salmonella. Or coyote poop. So the druggie robber gets an infection in his foot if he steps on it. High Tech meets Home Alone.

Careful with the spike sticks, I know that eventually I would forget they were there and step on one or the dog would. I like the consequences for the burglar to be, but would be nervous about myself

These are the outside bedroom windows in the front yard. No one in their right mind would be near those strips because they have to get around the spikiest rose bushes ever. We don't have dogs roaming the front yard or people. The rose bushes only leave an 18 inch gap between the window and bush. I don't clean the outside of those windows, just spray them with a hose when watering the rose bushes. Not near a walkway, not near anything. There would never be a good reason someone would be behind those roses.

Day 3 of not spending any money today :) and in fact replaced the purchase price of this laptop from being under in all our budget categories.

@LadyLocust we solved the problem of being able to pick up the log splitter from the post office as they rang today and are going to deliver it here at home with a two person team and a truck with cargo lift or ramp. It weighs 128 kg in weight  and is delivered in a crate. They were originally going to deliver it with a pantec and get DH to lift half of it and with his stuffed back that would definitely not be a possibility.

Went to the Dollar Tree today and it had products for $2 through ^$6.00. Those have marked prices. Bought (3) $3,00 complete boxed Banquet meals (chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits) for food storage. Complete kits. Also Spam was $3.00 a can. Got my specials at Krogers: 5 family sized bags of pretzels for 99 cents each, and 1/2 pound cheese for 99 cents each. In their clearance produce, got 4 lb packs of tomatoes for $1. Bought all 5 that they had, so 20 lbs will go in the dehydrator. Bought a simply safe system at Sams Club, and wooden dowels for all the window jams at Lowes. Have windows to work on this week, and getting used to carrying concealed all the time at home. I suspect the druggie will be back. Looking for spike strips for under the windows, or I'll make my own.
I really, really hate them but chollas make a great under window barrier.

Managed to buy some ham steaks for only $2 each so I stocked up and bought 10 of them lol
Also picked up some smoked sausage for $2.50 each so I bought 4 of those ( so good with fried cabbage, or red beans and rice)
I now have enough points to get .10 off a gallon of gas when I go into town again

I noticed that large sized eggs went up .03 a dozen now. Is this the creep of pricing because of the floods out west I wonder? have to wait and see

I think last mo. I posted that I had cut the power bill in half or more for each of the previous 3 months. Just rcvd. our power bill for this past month - Cut last month's by 1/3. Last mo. was $65 and this month it's $40. I don't think it will go down much more, but I do like the direction it's going. Oh and a funny short story. I got a new nightshirt right before going camping Memorial Day weekend and took it to wear. About a week ago, I realized I hadn't seen it since that weekend. I thought I'd washed it. Looked behind the washer incase as I was throwing laundry into the basket, it missed - not there. I looked in with my t-shirts, then in my winter shirts - not there or there. Looked out in the summer kitchen where I hang the laundry - not there. Looked in the spare room where I do the ironing - not there. Finally sorta gave up. I did some dishes then was getting ready for work when it dawned on me. I went and looked in the dryer - Eureka! There was a towel that was pretty crunchy so I tossed a couple wet clothes in with it for 10 min. to soften it up a bit. I haven't used the dryer in so long, I forgot it was a possibility that clothes might actually be in there.

****y Traps Law and Legal Definition. ... If a person sets up such a trap to protect his/her property, he/she will be liable for any injury or death even to an unwanted intruder such as a burglar. It is illegal to set a ****y trap on one's own property to prevent intruders.

I agree with you. Once they have luck somewhere, they will be back.

Day 6 of not spending any money today.

So far our garden enclosure has cost us $2.66 in two secondhand pipe clamps we picked up earlier and about .50c worth of wire netting clips from a bag we purchased earlier to join the two runs of chicken wire together . We got to putting up the first part of the roof today by laying two runs of heavy duty chicken wire on the top of half of the garden beds and used recycled heavy duty tie wire from the demolition of the grape yard vineyard.

After we get this done the only thing that will cost us a bit of money is putting up the shade cloth which we purchased earlier. We estimate this would so far have taken a tradesman 8 hours work to do it @ $80 per hour. By, so far, doing this ourselves this has saved us $636.84 over hiring a tradesman to do it for us in labour costs alone.

Reached day 9 of not spending any money and busted today to do some grocery shopping and to top up on hydraulic oil.

Today we saved money on -

- Buying 10 litres of hydraulic oil using our roadside assist card saving $8.20 or 20 % on usual prices.
- At IGA we purchased on 58% off sale 3 x 6 pk of hotdog rolls @.80c ea, 2 x 4 pk of bacon and cheese rolls @ $1.20 ea, 1 x 2pk of cheese and bacon sticks @1.40, 1 x 6pk of cream buns @ $2 ea saving $13.08 on usual prices.
- At Woolworths we purchased on half price special 9 x mouthwash and 4 bottles of moisturiser saving $47 on usual prices.

Yesterday went to nearby city and stocked up on all the stuff for b&b (regular periodic run), typically we save about 15% after paying for gas. Some of the stuff we just can’t get locally either. Today we didn’t buy anything. Picked about 2pounds of fresh ripe strawberries from garden today so that saved a fe2bucks. More to pick tomorrow. The plants were given to us a few years ago so zero out of pocket.

Scrounged up some lawn mower wheels from the local online classified. Going to put picnic table plus a few other things on wheels to make them easier to move. Wheels were free so I saved the cost of. Buying wheels or coasters
