How did I save money today?

Yes Mason jars and yes you can freeze them. You have to let them thaw naturally without microwaving or heating or anything, just set the jar in some luke warm water to thaw, but when they are thawed they will still be separate eggs and can be poured out individually for use. Just store in the fridge after thawing.

Thanks, MountainGuardian, I didn't know you could freeze mason jar and have only used them for canning. But didn't know about freezing eggs like that either.

Well, I busted on no spend, but oh so worth it.
I finally decided to use some more of the money you wonderful people sent me.
After tomorrow I will have a fuller chest freezer and a full refrig freezer.
I bought enough meat that I won't have to buy again until September or October.
I was down to my last 2 packages of drumsticks, and 1 package of pork chops.
I bought a good size meat bundle today, larger than normal but that works for me too.
Only other meat I will need to buy will be chicken.
And it's on sale this week 10 pounds of leg quarters for $6.47, thinking I'll pick up 3.
Then will spent several days breaking them down to portion size for me.
Now if I could find a great seafood sale.
Would like to pick up some clams, mussels, shrimp, halibut, cod, salmon.
But that can wait if I don't find it for awhile.

Day before yesterday we saved money by -

What a great day of bargains we had day before yesterday and I am happy to have found some being -
- At Drakes supermarket chicken drumsticks from their deli on special and coupled with their global discount of another 5% off I only paid $1.83 per kilo for really good sized chicken drumsticks and saved $11.70 on prices elsewhere by buying 4.38kg. I also purchased 2 dozen eggs saving $1 on usual prices.
- Bought 12 kiwi fruit on special for $4 saving $4.64 over prices elsewhere.
- Purchased bananas ($2 kg) and 2kg of mince ($7 kg) on specials at Woolworths and 340g of green beans on markdown for 49c saving in total $13.41 on usual prices.
- I went to Bunnings to buy a 20 litre fuel jerry can and there was one left on the shelf without a pourer so I decided to ask if they could do a better price for me and they gave me a whopping $10 discount. We have heaps of fuel pourers here already so didn't necessarily need another one.
- By using our Woolworths Rewards card when buying fuel we saved 4c per litre or $7.14 in total.
- We decided to make our fuel supplies here up to a years supply and bought 5 more jerry cans and filled up another 2 we used and purchased fuel at really low prices today and saved $82.10 on usual prices.

Got to day 3 of spending no money and busted on buying 3 fitted lounge covers and a quilted pet lounge protector chair cover on eBay but saved $314.82 over buying them elsewhere. Before we covered our lounge chairs with old sheets so it didn't look really nice so I decided to spruce the lounge room up a bit and got burgundy ones to match the colour in the rug in here.

Got to day 7 of not spending any money yesterday but busted today.

We did save by buying on markdown a topside marinated roast, a jam and cream sponge and on specials 4 blocks of chocolate saving in total $18.56 on usual prices.

I was reading somewhere that the cotton crop in India was decimated by locusts. Guess that will raise the price of everything made of cotton. Might even lower the amount of products in the stores?

Lots of essentials being decimated now. Especially our food supllies.
Plus China may cut off our medicines since we stopped making them decades ago.
Weather isn't helping wither for us to grow our own cops. May have to grow inside like greenhouse.
Who knows what ro expect in the near future?

Haven't spent money since I bought those shoes I think.
Well maybe I did, I don't know.
Had a $20 in my wallet, went yard sale.
Found 10 bibs, 5 outfits for grandchild that isn't born yet for $5.
Went to Wal*Mart with mask, surgical gloves, and spent $10 on oldest grand daughter that's at my house all the time.
Found her 5 long sleeve shirts,4 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of shoes.
Then found new grandchild for $5, 4 long sleeve shirts, 3 pairs of pants.
Might have spent my whole $20, but I think I did pretty good.
Some of the clothes were 50 cents, found 6-9 month long sleeve shirt for a quarter.
Next month will do a little bit more Christmas shopping for the grand daughters.
I make a list for each little girl and a budget and stick to it.
Course I also make them toys,blankets, pajamas etc.

Busted Tuesday and purchased a new set of trailer ramps but saved $50. Also by cutting about 3 cubic metres of ironbark firewood ourselves free yesterday and today we have saved ourselves $450 over buying it in for winter firewood. It will take a year to dry as it is rather green but we have enough firewood dried to be used for this winter.

But Strawberry will enjoy going running with teenager.
It will cost me $10 for 30 minutes twice a week.
I will get to walk without the fear of falling from being tangled up in her lead.
She gets the benefit of exercise with someone much younger than me.
While we wait for Service Dog school to reopen.
Maybe we will both loose weight too.

Tomorrow is pension day and I'm adulting with my helicopter money.
I am paying a whole years registration on my car instead of 6 months.
This is great because I always suffer when I pay in 6month installments because a payment falls so close to Christmas when a lot of other big bills are due.
My chest freezer is filled to the gunnels so there won't be any meat purchases but I NEED winter / work clothes and new work boots. I haven't brought any new clothes in several years and it shows so I guess I'll buy some new ones.

Got to day 2 of not spending any money but busted yesterday and bought some near to and half price specials on cup of soups, dark chocolate and whole chickens saving $28 in usual prices. We did also top up on some wet cat food and biscuits too.

Got some bad news about my car as the handbrake has stopped working that it is the caliper assembly that has had the richard in it so the garage will have to rebuild it to get it to work properly. The quote is up to $500 to have it repaired so that will be in a few weeks time and will come out of the emergency fund for the time being and I will replace the funds quickly again.

Dang teenager showed up-4.5 hours late.

So yesterday I paid a full year's rego on the car and I'm so happy.
I paid extra rent. That also makes me happy.

I brought fuzzy warm lamb's wool slippers. Yay. Warm feets.
I brought more wool work socks and other ...items.
I brought work trousers.

Overall I'm very happy with yesterdays effort even though I needed a nap after putting away the groceries and such.

Day 4 of not spending any money today .

We did go to the RSL club yesterday for our usual date afternoon and had a few soft drinks and great conversations with friends we caught up with but we don't count this as it is our entertainment. The RSL president insisted on shouting us a few drinks to say thank you for the cleaning we did but we did sneak in paying for 2 drinks and the sausage sizzles we had without him noticing. Since they have been closed for some time they need to build up the funds again.

I broke on Monday as I spent some money on clothing as most of my shorts and skirts are threadbare so I purchased on super sales 6 new skirts (5 being long skirts and one knee length) and 6 pairs of new shorts for $90 saving $395.94 on usual prices. So I am now set up for next summer and this winter too.

Shorts here are usually $25 - $30 pair and the long skirts are usually $39.95 - $59.95 to buy each new. I will confess I hadn't bought clothing for myself in ages as we were saving up for our home so wore what I had until it completely wore out and I was waiting to see clothing come on a good sale. With the virus there are so many deals around to take advantage of.

Difficult for me to get skirts long enough for me being tall and same with shorts so I was pretty excited.
