I have been through this stretch of road many times. Heading towards Lockhart, TX. If you ever find yourself there, run, don't walk, to "Black's BBQ". Fantastic place. We used to stop there on the trip between our home in Austin and our family farm down near Corpus. That was back in the 60's and 70's. I think Black's is still there. BBQ for lunch in Lockhart ... then afternoon snack at Dairy Queen in Cuero ... then continue our way down to the farm near that thriving metropolis of Woodsboro, TX. Always had to stop for a Dr. Pepper at cousin Leroy's store on the town square.
