Me? I use the head for the first shot - I go through less ammo that way.

The pelvis is a bigger target, not generally bobbing around as much, very painful, a broken pelvis will put them on the ground, there are major blood vessels. It will take longer to kill than a head shot but, a pelvic shot will likely put them on the ground immediately and they are almost certainly going to be more concerned about their pain than they are with you.
