The trick is to throw it out when they are not home and if they actually miss it someday act appalled that they lost it!!

I can speak from experience. That does not work.
My wife had a table lamp with a shade made from cut glass. It was cheap junk with a broken piece of glass but her sister gave it to her so it was an heirloom.
I tossed it and she knew as soon as she walked into the room.
I caught hell for that.
My wife and I have completely different ideas of what's good stuff and what's crap.

I had two 2" thick professional grade cutting boards. The wife tossed them out because they were going to poison her, and replaced them with plastic. A couple years later she read on the net that wood is healthier than plastic, she knew that I was wrong until the. She tossed the plastic and, not wanting to spend the money, replaced the plastic with 1/2" wood. The wife is always right. Just ask her.

My hubby "loses" stuff all the time! He thinks he has a real problem! You can't throw out special stuff backlash! Pick your battles! We gals notice EVERYTHING!! And we WATCH you guys like a hawk! NO secret hiding place is secret!! Just a piece of insight for you guys!!

I listen in on people's conversations (phone or person to person) in the grocery store all the time!! It's AMAZING! I have excellent hearing so, no, I'm not the creepy person standing too close to you!! Often I wonder how some people can make it through the day!? Then I hurry up and check out because they will be getting behind the wheel of a vehicle shortly!!
