I’ll be right over! Just kidding.
Properties aren’t selling. I didn’t realize there were three properties for sale in your neck of the woods.
Two! The 50 acres behind us for over 2 million dollars, they'll be keeping that until they smarten up, and the five acres down the end of the road. It has a major pipeline and huge power lines across it! The house is going "as is", old two story in bad shape! Only 500,000 for that place!

There was an empty 5 acre lot next time me. I called the owner every year for 25 years and he wouldn't sell. I spoke to him one week and the next it was sold to someone else. I gave him and earful and a sermon about keeping your word when you make a promise. Thankfully the new people took down only the trees needed.

It's all over. The last two lots in our hood were built out this summer. Nice, modern homes, but no view and small, like 1,300 sq ft and no perimiter walls - which are running $30-75,000 now. They've both been sitting. There are 4 on our street fixing to come on market. One the guy died, the others are in poor health and the blind guy had to move with family, so his place has sat empty for a year.

It's not going to be pretty if all those places go on at once.

I'm afraid we're stuck here in the Wasteland. Our only hope is to make enough money here to start escaping in the summer again.

I worry about our immediate neighbors selling, it's ALWAYS worse people who move in. :(

They fled, lol!! They had an open active contract (owners accepted the offer, but the buyer can back out), and the buyer backed out! I clean for a local realtor, so nosy Pearl called him!! He called the listing agent!! Apparently someone (ranch across the road🤫) shot a bunch of hogs (3:30 am a week ago Friday 🤫) and six of them made it on to the the property and died scattered around the driveway (oops)!! They also didn't like the sinking mound of broken up concrete the former people used to fill in the pool they didn't want!! So the wait continues.........

WOW!! Never a dull moment in your neighborhood. I know wild hogs are an issue in your neck of the woods. Have you ever had problems with them?

OMG! I can just picture those nice, gentille remote tech workers driving up to further inspect their future country manor, to find a half dozen hogs bled out and swelling up on their driveway. LOL

Humm... thanks for the idea. ;)

I was taking the trash down to the bin at the road and an SUV was coming up from the end of the road. It was a couple with two pre teen girls, they were looking at the place down there! They stopped and asked me about the big power lines, are they a health concern for me?! I just told them there were worse things that could kill them! 😃 Then they asked about the marker on the post with numbers on it. I told them it was a pipeline marker. They inquired more, I informed them! They didn't like that the right of ways took up half the property! Seemed like nice people, they made it clear that they thought it was overpriced and a little too far from town!! Oh well!!

This must be my day to encounter stupid people!! The "workers" on the 50 acres behind us decided they needed to burn brush today in the 30+ mph winds during a burn ban in a pasture with waist high dry grass!!🙄🙄🙄 Not on my watch! So I called my buddy the fire marshall, and he says, "not them again"?! The fire truck couldn't get in their huge locked gates, so luckily they went down the end of the road to the place that is for sale to put eyes on the fires! Two of the firemen climbed the fence and hiked across the pasture to enlighten the workers, who spoke no English until the word jail was mentioned! One of the workers drove to the front of the place and let the remaining fireman and truck in to extinguish the fires! The property owner is in Dallas and was told to be at the fire marshall's office tomorrow morning! This was his fifth offense for illegal burning on that property! My buddy the fire marshall told me this guy has gotten some steep fines before, and today's will not be pretty!! Thank goodness we didn't have an out of control fire!!

Thank God you were home and able to call the Fire Marshall. That could have been a disaster. They should make the fine six figures. Maybe that will get his attention.

His fines from the county and state (rivers and wetlands) are in the six figures!! Everything from the fires (burning at night, during burn bans, and burning materials not allowed) to burying trash (a lot ) and construction debris, home made septic, not putting culverts under their driveways, blocking the creek, something with the propane tank, and many more!! Everyone in the area refers to him as the Cartel!

Go Girl.
Two or three houses could have went up & untold property damage.

With that many violations I would think the county, or whoever is responsible, could declare him a public menace, and condemn the property. He is a ticking time bomb, and it is on;y a matter of time before something really serous happens. gaah
