New neighbors

I can't even see any neighbors from my place, so I wouldn't know if someone was burning "illegally". Occasionally some smoke will drift up this way from the burning of logging slash but it quickly blows out.
 
In my state a burn permit is simple. I just go to the forestry service website. They have a Latitude/longtitude locator map and an 800 number. I just get my lat,long numbers and call them up. I give them my location and they verbally give me a permit number valid only for that day. Or, deny it, as the case may be.

I burn my pastures every few years. It's a very beneficial thing to do. Helps control weeds and insects.

Here's a field I burned last year in Feb. Did a controlled burn, took an hour to prep and another hour to do the burn.
