Friend patched my pantry ceiling where there were holes and mice had chewed through one spot. Put mesh over to keep them from chewing through other spots.
It's actually white but the light in the pantry makes it look yellow.

The woodpile if filled to the top! Bring on winter!
Wow! You've got a lot. We bought a cord of wood (maybe it was just a 1/2 cord?) about 35 years ago. There's still a little bit of it out back left in the pile up against the fence. Many of the remaining pieces are not terribly solid at this point. But we drag a few pieces along on car camping trips for the campfire. You gotta wear gloves to pick it up to protect yourself from the critters that have taken up residence. A few hard whacks on the ground with each piece will dislodge most of the spiders, worms and snakes before you put it in the truck to go camping. You can probably tell I'm not exactly a Paul Bunyan type of guy.

Since I couldn't find any little round pieces of wood to stick in the bore hole on the pantry door I had to improvise and screw a block to the backside (sealing it up and keeping mice out. Didn't quite fit where the plywood for shelves goes, but it still worked. We are replacing a working knob with a dummy knob bc the stupid working knobs couldn't catch (although after I cleaned up the pantry the latch inside started catching-- go figure). My brother took the latch out so now there's a hole. I''m thinking of seeing if I can get some sort of magnetic thing to make the door stay shut fully, but I have a hook latch that does it for now. I plan to anchor the dummy knob to the back piece there. Although I'm temped to put in some sort of filler. It's gonna be a pain to line up the holes to drill. I'm going to secure it with bolts and locknuts because trying to get screws to turn through this knob does not work. I've cleaned the floor since this picture was taken. Cats had knocked stuff off a shelf and knocked over a trashcan trying to get some bones.

I'm thinking of taking some painter's tape and putting it over the knob area, clamping the doorknob to the door, marking where the bolts will go, and then drilling through the tape and the wood. Clamp is important bc I could not get the stupid thing to hold still while trying to mess with it before.

Mice can and will eat through wood. Seems either you eradicate the issue (kill) the mice outside, or move into a metal building. By the way, mouse turds and other turds and even cat pee, may be causing you health issues. Just something to consider.

A random pic from Hearst Castle...

Havasu, the wood is only a temporary fix to keep the mice out. A dummy knob will go over and I'll have a ball latch to keep the door shut. The metal mesh will keep them from chewing through other places. You're probably right about the mouse mess. I really need to get it cleaned up. The mice aren't so bad in areas the cats regularly patrol. Only two of my cats are good mousers though.
Gorgeous photos!

theheathen, that is a cute skink. I like skinks.

Magpie, that is very cool. I miss doing ceramics. Took a class in high school and made some ugly stuff but had fun. We shared a room with the art class (it was a very large room) and the art teacher came over when our teacher had stepped out and started a clay fight with us. LOL.

catsraven, I wonder if the ears are connected and if they help or hinder Yoda's hearing.
