This defies explanation... unless the guy had a box of 90's and no 45's or brains were available, anywhere. He could have at least ran the pipe straight up then used one 90.

Maybe he had more brains than you think , getting paid by the joint :D

Haertig, I hope you weren't hurt. I also hope the repair will be less expensive and that you'll get a better shower valve out of it.

The scattered pipes make it look like it was more damage, but what happened was I had a convoluted mess of pipes and my shin hit one pipe as I was falling. It caused a break in 3 different places. There was a tee coming down from the jet pump outlet pipe that branched off to the side to the pressure tank. The bottom of the tee went to an elbow and then 3 more tees splitting off to house, barnyard, and front yard. It broke off below the tee that went to the pressure tank, just before the tee to the barn, and under the ground going to the house. My friend had to dig up a cinderblock and move it. Had to use scavenged parts from old pipes (good thing I keep those things. LOL.

Meanwhile, my friend's shower cartridge ruptured in the cold & was spraying water everywhere. Had to use the emergency shutoffs behind the access panel. Cartridge fell to pieces.

My new hunting dog. She is my gal Friday because it's Friday I'm in love! Her name is Friday if I wasn't clear on the puns. I have a lot of training to do to get her ready.

The children's handmade Christmas hanging in front of our Aga. Which isn't lit because Christmas falls in the middle of the Australian summer. But it makes me smile and reminds me of how incredibly lucky we are, despite our life perhaps being a little 'weird' compared to the normal. What ever normal is.

The library reminds me of the dream library we wanted. All that wood, tons of books. Glass to keep the books safe. Spiral stairs look pretty but I hate walking up them. LOL. I'd want some nice chesterfield style leather chairs & sofas and some coffee tables matching the rest of the wood for the reading/sitting area.
This is a photo I took of the current water setup in my pump house. A 2nd shutoff for outside areas is out of view. I marked it up to show my plans. Need to do it soon so cows will have water.

PVC and hot water are a No-No, and I don't think PVC is supposed to be use for drinking water supply lines (hot or cold). I believe CPVC works for both of these tasks however. PVC is OK for waste lines (drains, sewage) or outdoor sprinkler lines. I believe the solvents and glues used are different for PVC and CPVC too (but I'm not 100% sure about that). I don't think you should mix the two types of pipe in the same line either, although I don't know why it would matter in a waste line.

PVC is white or dark gray. CPCV is off-white, light gray, or yellow. The pipe looks pretty white to me in your pictures, but photographic exposure or editing in PhotoShop could have changed that.

That looks like a pressure tank not a water heater.
