So did you join the forum to argue the point of prepping, if you feel it's a waste of time then why are you here? If it's nothing more than to chastise the group than my involvement in this thread is a waste!

So based on your logic I have to move out of the city in order to become a true prepper?

I came here to learn and have been doing so. However I feel like some here have this US vs Them attitude towards Urban Preppers. I've been taking cheap shots since I've gotten here. Couldnt care less but don't expect me to take it laying down.

You've basically have been telling me that all city dwellers are incompetent flakes whom will be doomed from get go. How else do you expect me to respond.

you've also been giving cheap shots.
your attitude seems to be that of every non prepper I have ever spoken to, to ridicule those that prepare but to do nothing yourself until some emergency occurs, by which time its far to late to do anything but panic.
if however you are a newbie to prepping, you are going about it the wrong way.

You seem like a nice enough guy but you make some pretty outlandish statements. Maybe u should go back a few pages and reread some of ur previous comments about WELCOMING THE APOCALYPSE.

that's got nothing to do with this conversation, we are talking about YOUR attitude, not mine.
I think your a troll.

your attitude says it all, you are a non prepper, a non believer, a sheeple.
you resort to abuse when you don't get your way.
go away and come back when you've learnt some manners.

Yes I'm a troll. Why don't you back out of this thread and see how many responses I've gotten or how many views my posts have generated.

quantity means nothing, its quality that counts.
I've been here long enough to have earned my place.
newbie's need to learn and inwardly digest, not call everyone an idiot just because they cant see why something is done the way it is.
you seem to have a big chip on your shoulder.

Paulie my boy if I'm such a troll then why do you bother responding to my pointless threads? Wouldn't that make you an accomplice?

just trying to figure out if your a troll or just a biased uninformed sheeple.
of course, I could just put you on ignore and have done with it, but I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, at first!!:p

According to you I'm all the above. Yet for some reason you keep responding to me...so I don't know...I think it's pretty clear that you're in on it.

Then out of desperation I will flock to the country in an attempt to take what's yours... only because I'm unarmed & weak from lack of calories...to find myself gunned down by a more intelligent and far more prepared hill billy

What's wrong with hillbillies? They have done more with less than most. Have you read the foxfire series, if you're wanting to learn the o'l ways it's a hell of a series to have. The art of the past is being lost with today's complacency :(

I never said there is anything wrong with hillbillies. Some of my most loyal friends have been Hillbillies. I just don't like to be prejudged or labeled because of where I choose to live.

I really don't see this thread going anywhere given we all have our reasons and comfort zones and nobody is going to budge from their own perspective and that's fine by me. I never said on this forum since I joined my way is the right way and the only way but it works for me!

Well you've implied through your previous statements that you don't think too highly for "city folk" and that we're essentially all the same.

This is were the friction initiated for me. Pretty much you have insinuated that unless I relocate outside city that I'm not a true prepper. Which of course I do not agree with.

A few of you take it a step further and actually welcome the extermination of "city folk". You justify this because you fear we're a threat.

I don't really, they generally in a hurry, rude as hell in my experience that's not to say I haven't met good people I have though very few, I have had nothing but problems in and around Seattle when picking up my wife at WSU the same be said going to the airport in Portland, I encountered the the same rudeness in New York City and Houston in the past, like I said my experience. My granddaughter recently pulled out of Berkeley because of the crap going on their, those are just small samples.

"U.S. Census Bureau, 80.7 percent of the U.S. population lived in urban areas as of the 2010 Census, a boost from the 79 percent counted in 2000. That brings the country's total urban population to 249,253,271,"

So are you saying that more than 80% of the ENTIRE country is the same? That's 250 million people. And I'm the troll.

i wonder to how much safer it is for me to live where i do.compared to those 19 suburbs..and how many of those people in those 19 suburbs, can survive. a real shtf situation.and how many of them will turn on others?

Oh by way...here is a list of 100 of the safest suburbs of America. 19 out of 100 of these suburbs are suburbs of the CITY of Chicago.

i've lived in what i consider big cities,(30,000 to 50,000)i've also lived in small cities.i've also lived in the country..matter of fact,i live in the country now.in which where i live now.is 6 miles outside of a city of just over 1200..id rather be living where i am now.instead of that city of 12,00.on account,it,ll get way to dangerous and real fast in a shtf situation..as far as the bigger cities go,like dallas, miami, chicago,LA,and all them other big cities goes.unless i have to go to one of them, for some reason.i won't be seen in one..and as for as the suburbs go.i think of them as zoos, filled with humans..lol.now,as for that small city i live outside of.i believe it'll get dangerous here after a set length of time, after a complete power grid failure,or what ever..on account people will be leaving town for a safer place to stay n live..while everyone else will be staying behind,to either barely survive,or to die..some,if not most will die from die from not having their doctor prescribed meds..there's folks that live within 1 mile of me,will die from no meds as well..

More reason not to be near cities, be playing hell trying to evac that many people in a crises.

And for the record I never called a troll.

19 of the suburbs of Chicago on that list are safe enough to walk alone at 3am and not have to worry. Everyone will respond differently under a high pressure situation. To assume you know how 80% of the population will respond under adverse conditions makes no sense.

These are communities were good honest hard working Americans live. To typecast them all in one category is absurd.

I think some people here honestly have a phobia of cities and view city people as their primary threat. A couple here even openly admitted that they welcome the elimination of this segment of America (80%+ of population).

It's kinda disturbing actually as most don't seem to see anything wrong with this.

Also many of you seem to base your views of all "city folk" on the hand full of homeless thugs you saw looting on the news during Hurricane Katrina.

This kind of thinking contradicts all logic. Naturally I find myself on the defensive because of this. I don't agree that all city people will instantly turn into violent savages that will loot and go after country folks belongings.

Don't assume that we're not capable of preparing & persevering through even the most hopeless of situations.

Some people will naturally go bad but most will band together and do what's right and nessesary to survive.

there's An estimated 2,695,598 residents living in chicago.and Chicago city parks attract an estimated 86 million visitors annually..to me,thats about as safe as walking into a bear cave empty handed, knowing very well.that there's a hungry bear in there..
