As far as I know the kid wasn't abused. His siblings were well-behaved but this kid had no empathy & was spoiled. Parents really loved him and always defended him. Claimed he was a good boy. But, you never know. Some kids turn out bad despite having good parents. I've lived next door to abusive parents and heard them beating their kids, the screaming/shouting, etc. Never heard any of that coming out of their house, but it could have been quiet abuse. I'll never know.
Magus, have you tried calling animal control to report the dogs being loose and coming into your yard? Or do you have useless dog catchers in your area too? (they won't come out even if a dog bites someone or kills someone's pet here).
I can't find my baking soda anywhere. I know I had some and have looked all over. I did find my vinegar, but I need to clean the stains out of this fugly sink. Probably need to remove the caulk as it looks horrible and use nicer looking caulk.
Lots of iron sediment in my tap water. I've heard vinegar and baking soda with a little lemon juice (to offset the odor) might help. If that doesn't I'll wash it and try hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. I've seen differing opinions on whether hydrogen peroxide and vinegar can be mixed.

Ah, so some bad blood with the dogcatcher. That makes sense and it sucks, Magus. Hopefully the dogs will learn to stay away. There was some sort of chemical that a late friend of mine had they called it high something. High life? It didn't inflict pain but created a freezing sensation and frightened dogs. He told me what the chemical was but I forgot. He said they would put a little dab on a dog and the dog would flee. Of course, that means you have to get close enough to touch the dog. Sounds like this one is threatening to bite.

I had zero energy today. I still dragged myself up to cook and bring in water and get yelled at by Mom bc she forgot where she put something and was blaming me and being melodramatic about it. She has a container she keeps her full medicine bottles in and when I brought in the new end table, I'd taken it and moved it and then gave it back to her. She put it inside the end table (it has doors). So she wakes me up screaming that she can't find it and won't stop screaming at me over the phone so I hung up and went to look. She kept yelling at me and I told her to stop yelling and calm her tits (which never helps but I was annoyed). She insisted that I never gave it back to her and I asked her if she checked inside the end table. She claimed she had and I started walking around the room looking and she started saying how she just wanted to die and that she was going to die if she didn't find this medicine blah blah. I told he to stop screaming again and to check the end table. She looked again and saw it, but she shoved it to the back and couldn't reach. I gave her a wooden backscratcher and she whined there was stuff in the way. She did move stuff and got it out and shut her piehole, but man, the drama... She was looking for a way to blame me for her shoving her own stuff way to the back and putting stuff in front of it. No apology for screaming at me and blaming me. I went back to bed. She called later wanting water bc my brother was supposed to have brought in cases of water from the truck but he didn't. At least she calmed down and thanked me when I got stuff out of the truck.
My brother hasn't been taking his meds regularly so he feels like crap and is doing nothing at home. I thought he visited our friend last night but it turns out some punks refused to leave the arcade after closing and he had to shut the machines down while they were playing on them to get them to leave and didn't get home until after 2am bc he didn't finish closing until 1:30am (and they close at midnight). All he does at home is sleep, eat, use the bathroom, and play video games. He did that when he didn't have a job as well though.

Two vents today. So, I mentioned the bank let my brother's account get emptied back in July. He filed two separate claims for his savings account and his checking account. He got the checking account $ back. He's been calling, leaving messages, asking for callbacks, and going in to the bank to check the progress on his savings account. Well, he got ahold of them today and they told him the claim for his savings account was never filed and it was beyond the 60 days to do so and he was out of luck. He was absolutely fuming and went to the bank and the woman who handled it was busy. He talked to another lady who printed out the very first form where his savings had been emptied and restored and the claim for his checking account, but not the form for his savings account the second time it got robbed. We had some back and forth and were told to come back later. Came back later (after going to Samsclub) and the lady was free. She didn't know why they hadn't processed it because it was in the system and she had filed it and sent it to them. She printed out copies for her records and for his and said she was e-mailing them again to tell them that she had sent this out Aug 1 and they claimed they didn't get it and that he needed his $ back. So, now we wait and see if they respond and get the $ back. If they don't return the $ he will have to sue them in small claims court.
Meanwhile, my friend is freaking out bc his gf vaped her entire pregnancy and it caused the fetus to have developmental problems. It isn't as developed as it should be and she's supposed to have an appointment with a doctor in Opelousas but he has to be at work in Marksville. The father of the fetus has no job & just wrecked his mother's car so he won't take her but he's going to pay $300 for a tattoo from her brother in a few days. I told my friend to have her tell the jerk that he better use that $ to help her get to the doctor appointment. I'm having to explain to my friend that if anything goes wrong with her or the fetus its on HER and not him. She's the one who got pregnant on purpose to get him to take her back. She's the one who vaped while knowing it was bad for the fetus. She has an appointment with a doctor in Eunice on Monday but they said they won't treat her or deliver the fetus unless she goes to Opelousas. My friend's only days off are days that the place in Opelousas is closed. He can't miss work bc he can't afford the pay cut but he's worried something will happen to her and she'll blame him and make him feel awful. So he's stressing out. But my mother absolutely *hates* that girl and does not want me driving her anywhere. I let him know that and I know he's not trying to guilt-trip me, but he says he doesn't know what to do. I told him to let her figure something out bc its her responsibility. She's the one who put herself in this mess and he needs to stop enabling her. This may sound awful, but quite frankly, the fetus would be better off not making it to term and having her as a mother. It will have to be in NICU & it will likely be mentally challenged-- possibly more mentally challenged than the 2-yr old who can't even say mama or dada & can't understand anything other than his own name. Kid would be in for a rough life. But my friend feels that he's "the bad guy" if he doesn't clean up other people's messes and be responsible for their mistakes. There are no ubers, cabs, buses, etc in our area so he'd have to pay her brother to take her.

Nah, straight mint, they fit into a 410 wad with little fiddling. I think I'll buy a box of 45 Basic brass,some wads and a Lee loader kit and make a few really hot ones to see at what point they disintegrate.

So, the screen on Mom's new laptop went out. Computer is not even a year old yet. And now I have to find the warranty info on it. I took it over to see if my friend could fix it and he couldn't. His gf was over at her brother's house trying to convince her brother to take her to her doctor appointment. The brother apparently agreed but she was still in a mood when she got back. Friend caught her talking to the other guy (and she's told him she won't talk to him) and he's mad. As soon as I walked out the door I heard her screaming at my friend. I almost walked back in to tell her to calm her tits. She is the one who caused this situation. She's the reason he is so stressed out. He's already taking care of her other kid and she is trying to guilt-trip him over this one. He claims he's going to get a paternity test when it is born, but who knows if he'll follow through. He didn't get one on the first kid. I wish he wouldn't be so stupid about relationship stuff and wouldn't let people use him so much.

Amish Heart, you're right. He wasn't sleeping with her at the time she got pregnant but he did before and after. He doesn't think with his brain sometimes. Probably a lot of the time. He has a fear of being alone & doesn't want to be single. He hasn't been single for more than a week or so since he was 21. He does make stupid mistakes but that doesn't mean he has to pay for other people's mistakes as well. I'm 99% certain she got pregnant on purpose to try to baby trap him. After she left him the first time he only took her back bc she claimed to be pregnant (but she lied & he was super pissed at her). He apparently chewed her out as soon as I left & said he's tired of cleaning up after her and she needs to start cleaning up her own messes and actually taking care of the child she already has instead of leaving it all on him. She doesn't want to grow up. She is still in middle school age mode.
As an aside, the sociopathic kid his ex is raising tried to choke himself out in school and was carted off to a mental hospital. I hope they keep him there for awhile to get him some help. His mother is abusive to him and he's suicidal. The longer he's away from her the better.

You know that the best thing for your friend is to be rid of this lady and her children once and for all, but that won't ever happen because he has chosen her and puts up with her. Drama will always be there. Even when those kids are grown and gone. The thing is, it's your choice if you want a relationship with your friend and the girlfriend. You can watch their crazy relationship, or you can walk away. But those two are not going to change.

New set of twins born this morning and yesterday afternoon. Things are looking positive. Too early to say if my attempt at "flushing" ewes before introducing the rams was effective.
The human condition? I'm at a point realizing that I have got everything thing I have asked for. During those long commutes while I was working for the man and struggling for my dream I can remember myself saying "if I could just find a way to exist on the farm?". Now I've got that but still not happy?
I find myself asking again! " if I just had someone to share it all with? ". But what is next? " I wish they were less insane?" "I wish they were more (maybe less) dedicated as I am?"
It seems we all make subconscious compromise?

It's hard to find like minded people. Most people think preppers are nuts and work too hard. Many preppers don't buy in to the Hollywood hype and selfie garbage. We're not popular people

Sorry, to clarify, my friend's first ex had the kid that burned his house down and molested my friend's daughter (the boy's half-sister). He's 12 I think. My friend has the worst taste in women. But he's still a good friend despite that. He really needs some therapy to get him out of this funk where he thinks he can't kick people out when they are toxic, abuse him, and use him. I got him to stand up to her a little yesterday. He told her she needs to start cleaning up after herself and to stop putting everything on him. But she guilt-tripped him into taking her back & he doesn't see how manipulative she is.
Tellers at the bank yesterday were both sick & coughing. Today my brother and I felt like garbage. I'm feeling slightly better, but still icky and having a cough. I get colds very easily. My sister and her husband have Covid right now. I wish viruses would just go away permanently.

Getting old sucks.
My dear wife finally got sick of repeating herself and told me it was time for a hearing test.
So we go to an audiologist today and the first thing I noticed is the music in the lobby is about 3 notches too loud.
Then the receptionist is watching a droning video without headphones so the sound is bleeding into the reception area competing with the music.
By the time I get called back, my tinnitus is in full gear and my headache is just itching to take over and blow up on everyone in my vicinity.
Sure enough, the results show my hearing has indeed deteriorated since my last test. They recommend hearing aids.
Sampled one set and the difference was night and day!
Then I find out neither of my insurance plans cover them.
Out of pocket costs range from $2,600 for the base models up to $7,100 for the high end (guess which one I was given to try...).
Guess my dear wife is just going to have to live with repeating herself for a while...
Although, she did check with Costco and our local store has a hearing center and apparently better pricing...
So maybe she won't have to repeat herself THAT much longer...

I would think this is something that CLR would help with. It is a mineral build up, isn't it? I have used a cleanser with bleach in it to remove stains. Even using bleach and let it soak for a while.
I think I can help a bit, there are headphones that cancel background noise and amplify things like human speech, they used to be all the rage at the rifle range because you could hear your spotter and tone out the din of gunfire nicely, BUT they cost like 300$ bright side is you can hook an IPOD into one or your computer and zap everything but what you want to hear.

They have bluetooth hearing aids. Geoff Casellucci did a video about his wife's hearing loss and talked about her bluethooth hearing aids that doubled as earbuds.
Tinnitus is awful. My mom has it and I think it is part of why she doesn't listen/can't hear when I ask her things. I will have to ask her a question 5x and wave my hand in her face to get her to pay attention. Doesn't help that she sits there with noise canceling headphones on. My dad had some sort of earbuds that looked like hearing aids that were for treating tinnitus. I think they were $3500 about 20 years ago. Not sure if the insurance covered it.

I bought my wife hearing aids from Costco.
$799 each ear for a total of $1598.
They are the behind the ear style and are rechargeable so no batteries to replace.
The in the ear style are a lot more expensive.
She was amazed at the difference they make.
She keeps telling me to turn down the volume on my laptop when I watch YouTube.
You have to look real close to even see them.
She say huh and what out of habit now but I'm trying to break that her from that.
When she says HUH or what I just look at her and she knows.
The FDA just changed the rules so you will be able to buy hearing aids over the counter. You might want to wait and see what the price will be.

I guess I'm stuck on your sink. One of my toilets needed new plumbing in the tank. I purchased replacement parts and was going to replace the parts. Then the water turn off valve by the toilet was going to need to be replaced in order for me to do that. I started using the toilet and flushing with water straight into the toilet. Eventually, a plumber was here to work on the plumbing for my new washer last fall. I turned off the water to the house for him to do that. While he was here, I asked him to replace the parts in the toilet tank, since the water was off. He did and it took him just a few minutes.
In the meantime, the toilet had gotten stained, in spite of me cleaning it. The deepest part wouldn't come clean. Then I started cleaning that toilet frequently, and once I put in the cleaner and was gone for a few days. When I came home, I used the toilet brush, and it was finally really clean.
I wonder how baking soda and vinegar would work on those stains? Using the combination of the two has helped me clean up things that I never thought I could get rid of, such as cat urine. Individually, they are meh, but together, they work!
Baking soda is a good polish. have you tried peroxide?
Ok, hacks from The Cleaning Lady": fill sink with water, add 1 cup of Outdoor Windex, let soak at least 1 hour! Should wipe out with a Magic Eraser! Can also use white vinegar, just make it 2 cups!
I forgot about the eraser trick! damn, I'm getting senile. they take light rust off guns without much bluing damage too.
