Medical bills are driving me nuts! I’ll pay them but I would like to know who I’m paying and why! I get bills with codes and numbers mixed with letters on them. I’m sure the codes mean something to someone but they mean absolutely nothing to me. Example, every time I have something done at the radiology dept in the small town near me I get a bill from a doctors group in Florida. I used to work on catscans so I’m pretty sure this bill is a radiologist reading fee.
But the bill DOES NOT say that! it just has codes and case numbers or file numbers. ENGLISH Please!!! Why can’t I get a bill that says…
Mr. Peanut, on December the 42nd you had an x-ray taken in the radiology department of Itchy Scratchy Hospital in Small Town. The x-ray was electronically sent to Dr. One Eye in Topeka Kansas. Dr. One Eye is a radiologist. He read your x-ray and sent a report to your doctor in Small Town. We, here in Florida, are associates of Dr. One Eye and handle billing for him. This bill of 43 cents is the portion of Dr. One Eye’s reading fee that was not paid by your medical insurance. Please remit soonest to us here in sunny Florida. Thank you in advance.
Something understandable that makes sense! Something that anyone can understand! :switch:
When I get a phone bill or power bill or credit card bill everything is written in understandable terms. If I make a long-distance call, even the number I called is on the bill.
Why can’t medical bills make sense?
