It is crunch time now. . . . by this weekend the plan is to have Granny fully moved in. Yesterday was her china hutch and curio cabinet. Along with finishing up our closet. Today was cleaning her room washing walls and baseboards, then bringing her desk that her dad had built her I was a little worried about her hutch and curio because I did a little different on her placements. I took what she had done and just built on it adding in different things that she has stashed in her lower cabinet area. I had made my BIL take a pic of it to show her yesterday, but she told me no when I asjed today. . . her short term memory is just not good but yet she can tell me practically everything that happened when she was younger. .

So Granny has been moved in since Sat. First day I was able to get her bedroom furniture set along with a few knick knacks. She thought it was beautiful. . . I did get her a new comforter because for one, i didn't like hers, but mainly because I did want her to have something new for her room. The second day I hung pictures of her, both her husbands and some other family photos along with her grandmother's diploma made out of sheep skin. That night I thought she was going to cry. I know she teared up.

Today was her first visit living here with her home care nurse. She told him that she loved it here with us. She went outside and spent time out in the front yard with the goats and then a ride around the farm and neighborhood on the golf cart. The last few days when sitting in the livingroom, she watches out the Windows for the cows and goats both. Her nurse said that everything was good and he could tell she even looked better.

She hasn't needed any of the pain patches and has been strong enough to feed herself everyday so far. I know that can change but we are all counting out blessings. If this keeps up I don't see why my life can not go back to almost a full normal.

Husband's mom lives with his sister. His mom has had signs of dementia for a few years. This week she was in the front seat with her son in law and thanked him for taken her home, but didn't even know his name or who he is.

Then she didn't recognize her granddaughter that she raised. These thing happen more when she gets away from her home. They have decided not to stress her by taking her to strange places.

It's very sad. It runs in her family and my husband has been having some memory problems, but I think its just because of his drinking.

Could be a little of both unfortunately. My time is spent mainly with Granny, cooking and cleaning these days then a little time out with my goats and still a few days of my outside job. I may need to go in tomorrow. I will find out in the morning if the people sch can get a big order done for a wedding. Since the boss started vacation today, I offered to come help if need be. I got my review this last Mon, which was good and got the highest raise possible. It's little things like this that helps keep me on the "above and beyond" list. I need to go out tonight to do some deworming, just waiting for them to barn up for the night.

Speaking of animals, my momma hen moved herself and babies out of the apartment into the main coop tonight. I was looking everywhere outside then looked in a nest and there they were.

They grow up so fast.

Mom and dad decided that they're only going to take a small load of personal things with them when they move to my sister's. They asked the wife and I to dispose of all of their asset's and real estate. They've got an 80+ years accumulation of hand tools, power tools, antiques, furniture, household stuff, hardware, reloading equipment, ammo, guns, etc, etc. The kids are coming down to see what they want and then we'll start selling off everything that's left. We probably won't be ready to sell the house until next spring.

Sounds like y'all have got quite the job ahead of y'all. I have been helping my mom sort through and dispose of/sell my grandmother's stuff since she passed in December. She was a genuine hoarder but she also had some nice things so it has not been easy.

Since my husband is 61, he is on the elderly page.

Just got back from taking him to get an upper and lower GI and biopsy. He is very anemic and they don't know why.

They are also doing the biopsy to check for celiac since our daughter has it.

The initial results didn't show ulcers or cancers which is good. The celiac biopsy takes about 2 weeks.

I told the doctor of his excessive drinking, but didn't really find any damage caused by it. I was hoping for just enough to scare him into quitting.

I'm 60 so here I am with my ailments . My nasal have been so swollen I have been completely clogged for a couple of weeks. Went to doctor today and he said that if I didn't get them under control, I would have to have a 3rd surgery.

Nooooooo. He gave me a steroid/benadryl shot and double dose steroids, spray and an asthma allergy med that makes them shrink. I slept for 2.5 hours today because of the benadryl.

Steroids usually don't make me hyper, but we shall see with these double strength. Maybe I'll get some work done outside tomorrow. Super Woman.

I think after 3 weeks here Granny is very comfortable now. She has only brought up once why she was not able to stay at her home. It seems now that her biggest fear is us shipping her off to her other sons home. . . . she has brought up the 'do you think his wife would do this' many times over. She seems comfortable here and the unknowm scares her which I can not blame her. I can only imagine that they would hire out to deal with whatever arises. . . you just never know what the day may bring. I changed Granny's sheets yesterday but she had blood on sheets due to her thin skin this morning so had to wash and change again. I am thankful it wasn't anything like last Sunday.

You are a good person. There are too few people these days willing to take care of family. It can be teying at times I know. I can't imagine turning my son or mom over to someone who doesn't understand their individual needs. It May happen some day with mom but I hope not

I just cant understand why there are not more people out there willing to take care of their own. Maybe it is because so many have to have two incomes in the family. I guess it does take a special kind of person to take care of another 24/7. I know what this lady has done over the years for her family and I believe it is our place to take care of her now. Robin, what we do,in my opinion, is how it should be. No one outside of family is going to take care of your loved one like we would. I do her nail, toes, lotion her everyday and put on chapstick because her skin and lips were so dry. It's the little things she so appreciate s. First time I painted her nails she chose a light pink. Granny is old school and still goes once a week to the salon to get her hair styled. The ladies there oohed and awed over her nails so the second time I did them she wanted a hot pink. :). Yesterday I found a hot pink lipstick in her top drawer to match. I told her this next Fri I would doll her up.

I'll explain it in a terrible but clear way. 1/3rd of people are just fine killing their own baby rather than change their own lives to raise the child. And that is a baby that in the future will be able to help them. Why on earth do you think they'd be willing to care for their elderly? They probably look at it as extending the parent's life and delaying their inheritance. Rather, put them in a crumby state-run facility and let them rot quickly. It's sick, but many think exactly this way.

Friday's at th3 salon was always "blue hair day". The FanciFul was being poured on by the gallons.

I don't even trust my husband to stay with our son who is quite self sufficient if needed. My husband would not make sure his teeth are brushed etc. He's 27nand never had a cavity.. he brushes by himself after every meal, but I make sure I do a geeat job before bed. He'll probably be toothless a year after I die.

Thankfully mom is still capable of performing all of her bathing needs. Hopefully it will remain this way. She is so scared of becoming a burden. She wants to die in her sleep.

Maybe that is why I can not comprehend that way of thinking. . . I don't believe in killing babies either.

I totally agree TF and Dani. Since 1973, people have only known Rowe V. Wade.
No regard for any life that is an inconvenience.
I think it has to do with values and morels now days. . . . it seems that too many are all about "me". I have to admit that I enjoy my "me" time too, but I adjusted my wake up time so I could enjoy my coffee before I had to start my day. I am sorry but I do not function without it. I try to do the major cleaning before Granny gets up which is usually in between 7:30 to 9:30. A person needs to learn to adapt their personal timeline to fit in with another if they are going to be taking on the care of. . . . be it elderly or even a baby.

So many refuse to adapt.

I'm so pissed. I may have done some major damage to my knee today.

I hope I'm overreacting. I was using a pitchfork and my foot slipped and my knee just went sideways. Boom. I have it iced so hopefully tomorrow I will wake up and everything will be back to normal.

I was in the middle of a busy day too. Luckily, I had finished about half of my to-do list before this happened.

I hope it's okay! I injured my knee a while back and it is not good at all. It still hurts sometimes when I'm not careful. Keep the ice on and wrap it, and you might try a knee brace to keep it from getting further twisted when you are moving around.

Kate has a great point: get a brace to help support it. You might either get a crutch or a cane to help as well. Get the pressure off it, and do not twist it even the slightest.

Glad it is better today Robin. I tried to post last night but apparently it did not go thru.

I got clipped on the back of my knee yesterday at feeding time. It's a little swollen and starting to bruise. . . Goes with the territory.

Thanks you. I was clipped from behind by the dogs a few years ago. I fell backwards wi th my legs bent underneath me. My entire thigh was black and blue, but the odd part is, my chronic back pain wrnt away for about one month.

It wad worth the bruise to be pain free.

Aww. . . If you only knew what was corrected to help your back pain.

...

Glad it's getting better. My brother-in-law's (large) Labrador retriever ran full out into my knee from the front a few years ago. For the past three years I had problems climbing stairs and especially getting up into tree stands. There were a couple of tree stands I could not hunt out of anymore.

I finally got over it a few months ago.

I am so shocked that I'm okay. The night it happened, I was sure it was not going to be fine the next day. I guess the ice packs really worked.

I'd watch it though for a little while and be careful. After I hurt mine it seemed to get better so I started using it again, and it twisted and got far worse.
