A couple years ago I dislocated my shoulder doing something foolish. I reset it myself and it felt much better. The pain mostly went away but after 2 years it still hurts some times. The wife says that my body is getting older but my brain isnt. I don't know what she means by that.

Tonight when after taking Granny to get her ready for bed she asked me if I had heard from her other son. I told her no. She said it's not fair that we were taking care of ' all' of her. I had to laugh an d tell her I couldn't split her in half, it was all of nothing. . . :). I reminded her that his wife controls what her other son does and that is what he revolves around. She said that she thought she brought her kids up better than that. I don't want to ever make her feel bad or unwelcome being here at our home. So I look in her eyes I tell her that I am glad that she is here. . . . Yes after (it's only been 5 weeks) I am ready for a break. My anniversary is Wed next week and I would really like a day or at least a couple hours at this point would be nice so we could go out.

My brother lives next door to my mothers house. The very few times she visits her home, he is ready to bring her back to me within a week.
That's a male for you. . . Sorry hun but when it comes to caregiving long term, it is up to us gals.

Is it sad that I found out a BIG tip when wiping booty after son 2 had been potty training his first child. . . It's much easier to move a 1 yr old so I built on his laying down as much as possible.

I hatching put granny to bed last night since I normally get up at ,3 am and they are late sleepers which means they go to bed much later than I would like. Last night, I had hunny put Granny to bed. .she asked me if there was anyone else to put her to bed. . Guess I will have to stay up.

Glad you were able to take on the responsibility GG, not many males can for their own mommas. We have many males in the family, but granny would only like to have a female take care of her personal needs, which means me. Which maybe Granny needs more personal needs than others. She is not able to do anything for herself other than stand up and sit down with help along with feeding herself again at this time too. I do everything except two days a week hunny has to take her potty while I am at work, which is one time each of those days and he fixes her lunch those days too.

Guess this means she will be at your house from now on. . . Not that she went back home often. I feel for you. I just threw out the last stack of newspapers granny had saved over the years about all the hurricanes that hit around this area.

She keep everything anyone has ever gotten her. It could be a rock or stick. Lol

I said we just need to rent a dumpster for a month and let her go up and take her time. My daughter is going to take some of the big furniture and my best friend owns an antique mall and is going to go through it and see if she can find anything to sell.

She said today that if she didn't get rid of some of this pain, she thought she wouldn't be alive long.

I told her that all the searches say to take ibuprofen etc and she wont. She wants a doctor to tell her to take ibuprofen not me.

I have to admit taking care of Granny is more work than I thought it would be 24/7. . . But I am dealing with ok right now. Hunny on the other hand has had his ok days and others are just not. He has done so much for his sweet mom while I am at work. . . . I wake her up before I go to get her ready for the day than put her back to bed until my hunny gets up and he takes it from there until I get home by 2 pm. I get up by 4 am, 3 on the days I work just because I never know what I am walking into.. . she is woken up by 7:30 if she is not awake sooner. If later than that you can almost guarantee an accident. After waking when I am off,she goes straight to the potty and every other day gets a shower a d dressed. Right now since the battery change the top gets sponge bathed while the lower parts are scrubbed normally and sprayed down. The battery area can not get wet at this time he to possible infection so I have to be very careful right now. After that get dressed and coffee and breakfast. While granny eats, hunny sits with her so I can go out to feed my goats and do any chores out there that need done. Midmorning or at least every other day her sheets need to be changed out due to accident or thin skin bleeding and her made. I think when she rolls over her skin just tears open more. Every morning we put on lotion all over her legs, arms, face and chap stick on her lips. Everything tends to dry out quickly so just trying to keep her skin hydrated. then potty once again. After that I have about an hour to an hour and a half before I need to start her lunch which she eats at noon. It always takes about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes for every meal for her to eat. Just glad that she can feed herself right now, but you need to be on standby just in case she choked on somethig. By then it is another potty break even though she will tell you no. . She really does. I try to take her every 3 hours. She was ok with care givers only taking her twice a day but she seems happy when she continuously is dry instead of having to change out her pad. We still have to deal with some accidents though. After lunch and potty I have sometime to pickup clean and do laundry. Around 3 pm I start on dinner and 430 it is potty time once again. Then I go feed a little early. Then it is hunny s turn to go out and finish upgrading time with the critters. Supper for granny is at 6 pm and by the time she is finished at 730 I am taking her back to the potty and get her ready for bed. Then take her back to the living room to fall asleep to the baseball or football game be quashed doesn't th I I she is ready for bed. She is put to bed anywhere between 9 and 10 pm.

I have to admit I get depressed, but I think it has more to do with my hunny s attitude.

You are a good person.

Some days mom pees every hour but she does everything herself.

Her arthritis pain is getting worse and she stays in here room a lot. We are waiting for an appointment with a pain doctor, but nothing so far.

I have always thought that one day she just wont wake up. I hope it happens that way.

The doctor checking mom today was rough. She is 86 and was twisting and pulling on her so hard. I was flinching.

He is sending her for x-rays and gave her some pain meds. She has an ice pack on her groin because it is so painful.

Have they ruled out nerve pain and certain it is just arthritis? When granny was at her house living with constant knee pain, the doctor tried different things to relieve it. A variety of pain pills, knee injections, knee patches and nerve pain pills, It was like she was a genie pig and the doctors could not find a solution . . At least we did that seems to help her most days. I hope her doctor finds a solution for your mom or you stumble on something to help like we did by just not running a lower a/c setting as she did at her place.

Oh yea, some of it is nerve pain. They tried a med just for that but it didnt help.

Today was like a miracle. She fried chicken legs and you know how long and tedious it is to fry chicken.

When I fot home from son's Best Buddies meeting, she had washes dishes by hand and cleaned kitchen. I don't care if it's a placebo effect to the pain pills, if ahe feels better.

I understand nerve pain. I have neuropathy in my foot and every night I have to use ice and a heating pad. U rotate them from back to foot.

Mom wanted to take her dog when I was going to pick up son. I told her it wasn't good because in this heat if I have car trouble I would have her and her dog to worry about.

Well, after I picked up son a young boy hit me in rear and slammed me into a pickup in front . my car is probably totalled.

My son doesn't like stress so he was upset, husband had a game to call and had his phone off. Thank God my daughter picked them up and then was able to bring us home. My car is not driveable. Did she say anything about me being right about taking her dog for a ride? NOPE

MAYBE SHE HAS LEARNED HER LESSON.

I don't know how in the world grannys "s hair dresser finds all that extra hair to cover up grannys bald spot. A couple years ago she had a spot of skin cancer on top burnt off and made a horrible scab. Wounds on granny are very slow to heal. Grannys hair dresser was flooded in with the storm so it was up to me to style yesterday.

I soaked her down and picked her scab off. Normally all I have to do is that and wash before her appointment. It has gotten much smaller since I have been doing this. Let her eat her breakfast while I went out to feed. Once her hair was air dried I pulled out her small curling iron to roll it all then tried to do what I have seen her hair dresser do which is tease it up and then tweak a little and spray. It wasn't too bad at the beginning of the day but of course she wanted to see it last night. She says oh, that's horrible! What are you going to do about it? I told her nothing tonight. I'll redo it tomorrow. . . .
I told hunny about what his mom said about her hair. Then told him I was not a hair dresser. . . I spend like 2 minutes on my hair and that is being generous. He says yeah, we see your hair everyday and walks in the house . . . Then tells his mom she hurt my feelings. It was my hunny that had hurt my feelings but now I had to deal with granny crying. . . Saying she is good for nothing and so ungrateful. . I should have kept my mouth shut.

Sorry about your car Robin. I am guessing everyone is alright?

We are okay. Mom says her neck hurts. She has surgery in it 15 or so years ago.
My back was really hurtung last night and my leg "collapsed" and started twitching. It Could be because of the sitting for so long. I have chronic pain, but this was different. We will be okay.

We got a double whammy because we were hit in the rear then hit a truck in front. Of well, it could have been worse.

I am so lucky. My daughter had a housewarming today and my mother in law came. She had no idea who I was.

She kept asking my mom what my daughter's name is and if she is dating anyone. It is so sad to see.

I will count my blessings and try not to bitch when my mom uses my good broom to clean the back porch that has chicken poop on it. :)

Thurs when home health was out, Grannys O2 level fluctuated between 82-90. Sat morning when they came back out it was between 58-68. . . Dangerously low. She was transported straight to the hospital where she was put immediately on oxygen. Many test run. She has some heart failure, fluid on the lungs and possibly around the heart. Yesterday morning when I got her up she was dizzy when sitting up, which is not unusual for her periodically. I took her in the bathroom for potty and shower, but she seemed more out of breath just standing, turning around and sitting down on the toilet I skipped the shower and took her for coffee and breakfast. She only ate about half of the two waffles given, which normally eat all because of her sweet tooth, and none of the sausage. She said she was nausiated. She was still speaking as clearly as she normally does. A little after that was her visit from home health.

at the hospital, she was also low in potsium, which she does take a supplement everyday, so not sure how that could happen and we eat a lot of potatoes. There was a time that she had fallen asleep, also not unusual, but she was hard to arouse. That was. We came home last night but are going back to the hospital this morning. We were able to see a doctor twice yesterday, one almost at arrival and a different one who told us what was going on and being admitted. Today I have several questions that I didn't think about asking yesterday.

Hunny called his brother to let him know. He was about to get on a plane in FL to come back to TX. He spent a week at Disney World. I don't know if he plans on driving in now that he is back home. He didn't say. The boys know and are driving in today to visit Granny at the hospital. I am scheduled for inventory tonight, but I called and talked to my boss last night to let her know what is going on. If Granny is stable, I'll go, if not, I will stay at the hospital.
