We got a whole frickin inch of snow, but it got packed into ice pretty quickly. Lots of stuff parked in ditches here too. Hell, with the holiday on Monday, schools have been closed since last Friday.

Most is gone now, but I bet there are some rough spots where there is shade.

As for the respect for ice here, most do. Problem is that I work in Huntsville, and I’m pretty sure that NOBODY that lives there can drive for crap anyway.

At least up north most learn to drive in it, but most southerners don’t have a clue. I’m heading down to Macon early tomorrow morning and hope it dried up today. Even if the roads are clear we are using a crane outside all day and will be freezing. I’m really ready fro spring.

Well I found gen 3 p mags on sale at Brownell for 11.99 and I wanted a few new mags so I ordered two. I have been needed some new ones half of mine are older USGI mags that work fine but are getting up there in rounds, the other half is a mix of Magpul generations most of which are beat up gen 1.

I load the 175 gr Sierra Match King hollow point in .300 Win Mag. Its moving on at 3100 fps . Shoots 1/2" and less at 100 yard's .

I finally got my new boots broken in (Corcoran jump boots), and picked up range time with my new .380 TCP that was suggested by Brent.

Tomorrow, I have major dental work completed.

Iv got a new "old stock" pair of Bates jeep tread combat boots from earlt 2000's that would rub blisters on my ankles so I shoved a paint spray can in each to widen the heels and left them a week . Now they are broke in .

Sorry about your feet and boots.

Call a podiatrist, and ask them to suggest a specialist who will make you a pair of custom boots from scratch.

Expensive, but worth it.

He will make a thing called a last, which is a mold of your foot, and the boot is assembled around this mold.

It is very important to consult a podiatrist and get custom boots if you have diabetes and/or certian kinds of heart problems. I have strong opinions about footware, but everything goes out the window if you have diabetes or high blood pressure.

My pistol has feeding issues, but I'm working on it.

I put finger rests on the extra mags I bought, except for the 10 round mag which hangs out the bottom.

It is small and compact, but a little uncomfortable to shoot (which is fine), but it's only intended as a close-range belly gun.

A good buy, but slightly disappointed with the reliability.

After over 25 years working on concrete I thought the DR was going to tell I was crippled , He simply said You have inflamed the membrane under the sole of Your foot . Take a Aleve once a day for couple weeks get You some DR Scholes shoes and come back in 2 weeks . I called Him before the 2nd week told Him Im good to go do not need the follow up .
Maybe I can get off the concrete here in a few years at work at something fun but in the mean time I ware the cheap Dr Scholes work shoes to work . Ware them out and get another pair about every 4 or 5 months .

1 package of Benadryl I found on sale. I can get bad allergies in the spring better stock up now!

Feels good to finally start building a small collection of food. I look forward to grocery shopping ever saterday. My goal now is to build a one month food supply than I will shift focus to other areas. Few more trips and I should have accomplished my first task

It feels better to me than buying an insurance policy! At least you know you aren’t going to starve come any emergency. We have a discount grocery store here called save a lot. Aldi is really good too. I try to hit the discount groceries for whole trays of canned goods. The prices are better than Walmart on most things. It’s a great way to stock up fast for less. This winter we have been hammered with bad weather three times now, and thanks to the pantry I haven’t had to worry about running out of anything.

That's the good thing about buying quality boots; they are made to be rebuilt. Just re-sole them with whatever sole works best for you.

My favorite insulated boot is the Filson Highlander. It has a cork insole that really forms well to the foot and is insulated with wool. For non-insulated boots my favorites are Redwing and Whites. All are made in the US.

Today I bought (2) 100 watt solor panel kits from harbor frieght for a special $150 each with a coupon, plus another 20% off entire purchace coupon, also got some batteries, WD40, zip ties and ducTape.

Walmart, I got (10) 5lb bags of long grain white rice @$1.68 a bag and 40lbs. Of red kidney beans @ $1.19 a lb. Great value walmart brand. I will store them in the free food grade buckets I picked up at the local grocery, add oxygen absorbers and bayleaf.

Picked up 4-6packs of heart gaurd meds and 2-6 pack of flea/tick meds. for tour 2 dogs.

Got a couple bids for the new shop building this week. Unfortunately I can't start construction on it until after the snow is gone and the road dries out, maybe May? At least I can start budgeting for my 2018 construction projects. A few weeks ago I finished a 12'×24' foot addition on the new barn where I park the tractor, and barn generator out of the weather. This spring I'm going to add a 12'×20' foot section to the rear of the barn for the tack room and leather working shop. A couple years ago I bought a storage building and set it up in a temporary location. The wife intends to use it as her bee house and wants it moved up to the orchard, almost a half mile away. I'm going pack down a snow road and try skidding it with the tractor. Looks like 2018 is going to be our biggest construction year yet.

The hens are laying over a dozen eggs a day now. Been giving the eggs away but will start selling them soon. We'll continue donating eggs to the senior center in town, and to anyone else who can't afford to buy them.

My Carolina work boots were consistently $200 give or take from 1998 to 2016. Steel shank, steel metatarcel guard, mid calf. They usually lasted about 2 years. Best I could find.

It's nice to not be burning through expensive boots and clothes anymore.

Now, I am a big fan of Salomon. I have sneakers (trail runners), snow trail runners with spikes, and a serious insulated waterproof winter boot. They run skinny though, I have EEE feet, and not much arch, so it takes a bit to get them comfy. The trail runners are crazy durable, last pair made it 3 years, and its not like I am just wearing them around town.

My wife wears custom cork inserts in all her shoes, plantar fasciitis. And they work.

Still recovering from a busy but good week. Tomorrow morning I will go to the grocery and do some prepping stock up, but still plan to just relax some.

I looked on line at boots and yes they were a little cheaper, but as you pointed out without actually trying them on and walking around some you have no idea what you’re getting. Well worth paying a few extra dollars and making the trip to a couple stores.
