Bought a couple more cordless tools. One was a DeWalt 60 volt circular saw. Second was a 60 volt recipacating saw. Both tools came with 6 amp hour batteries and chargers.
I recently started building a 12×16 post and beam wood shed. Got the floor in and two walls up.
The house is about 1 week from being finished, maybe. Just have the master shower to tile, carpet in the master bedroom and some finial plumbing. Got the new wood stove connected last week.
We're having a beautiful Indian summer here right now. Lows in the 20's and highs around 40 degrees and no snow in the forecast.
If this weather holds I might be able to start on a new 24×36 hay barn. If I'm able to get the posts in the ground soon I can build all winter.

I've just got a cordless drill/screwdriver, I generally use a manual screwdriver but as i'm fitting out my new workshop shed it will save a bit of time.
I got a cordless drill at a market a few weeks ago for £15 so I think i'm set now.

I remember when the cordless tools first came out. I got a 9.5v Ryobi drill. It was a total piece of crap. No power or battery life to speak of. Still, for going up a ladder for a quick job it was awesome. Now we have 18v hammer drills, bandsaws and everything else that hold up all day and more. I have several corded tools that haven’t been used in years now. You just can’t beat the convience of battery power.

I bought one of those cordless screwdrivers when it first came out, probably 15 years or more ago, when I got my last but one allotment, damn thing was useless, put about 3 screws in the shed and the thing was out of charge.
They have come a long way now. Indespensable tool now. Hope electric cars improve as much in the next ten years.

Battery powered tools are always getting better. Jigsaws, drills, grinders, lawnmowers, trimmers, circular saws and screwdrivers are lasting hours with hard work. Only problem is the whole thing costs about € 40.00 - 50.00 and just the spare or replacement battery will hit you for € 30.00 and more. And it looks like quick charging just makes the battery go bad faster.

Took the Jeep out and used the 4 wheel drive a little. Been wanting to climb a mountain here for years and finally did it today. Not a major climb but there were some rough spots to play with. Beautiful day to go explore some.outdoors. Got some decent Chinese food from a buffet while out too.

Sounds like a fun day, push your borders out as far as possible daily. Do something you always wanted to. Tomorrow is promised to no man. Today is a gift, that is why it is called the present. Tell someone you love them, hug a friend and kiss the kids daily, do not expect them to know that you love them, make sure of it...GP

Yes, it's so important to tell people. They don't just know. I've been trying to do better.

Carnival season just started today, I'm waiting for 11:11 am on the 11th of Nov. (11:11 on 11/11) They call it Fasching here. Kinda like Mardi Gras and Halloween together. Masks, costumes and party. The women storm the Courthouse and take over the mayors office. They cut the half of his tie off and hang it on the bulletin board. Then it is coffee and cake or even a bit of stronger things and Champagne. Hope all goes well and

no stupid does anything violent to the party-goers. Live free, GP

Fasching is the beginning of Mardi Gras season. I guess the season lasts a lot longer in Germany, LOL.
Faschingdienstag (translated "Carnival Tuesday"): Besides some parades that are held on this day, you have the burial or burning of the Nubbel. A Nubbel is a life-sized doll made of straw that embodies all of the sins committed during Carnival season. It is buried or burned with great ceremony on Tuesday evening before everyone parties one more time until Ash Wednesday arrives.
That is, by definition, Mardi Gras, which literally means "Fat Tuesday". The last chance to party before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

Life is short, I think celebrating for any reason is a good thing.

While cleaning out my parents place last week I found several antique oil lamps. We'll clean them up and put them in the new house.
Got all the rafters up on the wood shed today. That was a workout lifting 16 foot 2×8's up the ladder. I'm spanning 12 feet so I spaced them at 16 inch on center. I'll put up the roof sheeting tommorow. Also our runaway bull is coming home tomorrow morning. He's been gone since August.
I'm on my way now to the feed store. Every Tuesday they have 10% off for old timers. That covers my gas and makes the 200 mile round trip worth it.

Glad you're finally getting the bull back!

That workout is helping to keep you young. . . keep at it as long as you can. Life tends to shift before you expect it to. I would love to find all those treasure or oil lamps, I use a headlamp, mainly.

Got many Aladdin lamps still oil burners stored. Need more mantles for them, tho. Good to have.

Yeah. It'll be good getting him home. I've got a couple cows here on my place that belong to another rancher, they've been hanging out with my cows for a couple months now. I'll try cutting them out tomorrow and drive them down the road and point them towards their home.

Not really about prepping, but a check-in never the less

Looks like ICE is transferring my Son in-law, youngest Daughter and grand kids to the Texas border in the next couple of months. That's four we will be losing here, I know my Son has been applying for Deputy Sheriff down their so we might lose five more people here.

Be careful, those aren't made any more, I have 13 oil/petroleum lamps in all sizes, from only 4 inches tall to 16 inches. Brass, chrome and tin. Etched glass chimneys and such. My wife grew up with her aunt in Hungary when they still had no electricity and loves the smell of Petroleum when it is burning...No TV either, just radio. Here are three of the smallest ones:

Used to be that you could just go into Walmart and buy them but I hadn't seen them recently. . . . not that I shop there often. . . maybe a handful of times during the year. This being said after I just went there last week to pick up a Razor scooter for granddaughters birthday last week. I am sure I will make 1 more appearance before the year ends doing some more Christmas/mom and her husbands birthday shopping.

I have gotten several from Walmart, and the fuel too. In our store they are near the candles. I know you have said you don’t like online shopping but both Walmart.com and amazon are great for comparing products and prices. I can’t say enough for the time savings and convience of shipped directly to your door.

I may have to adjust to online shopping. . . I went into a Best Buy to try to find an updated Family Tree Maker. They ordered one for me and it turned out to be a Family Tree Heritage. . . so not what I wanted so now I have to make a special trip into town to return and hopefully get what I need/want.

My hard drive totally went down (due to age probably) and even though I had backed up my Family Tree both files were still there. The computer guy reinstalled Windows 10 but my Family Tree maker files can not be read. Honestly I think there was something on my old hard drive that was not transferred to the new hard drive. I have already had to take it back once when the kid found that he didnt install a Word whatever it was. After that, more documents opened up, but yet my family tree file didnt. @WGregMiller I could use your input.

Family tree maker went out of business for a while, then I think they got bought by someone. In the meantime I transferred all my data to another recommended product that was compatible. I think it was legacy family tree, but I will have to check to be sure if you want.
