#$%# I got everything done yesterday so I could sit out the rain... Then dad called this morning. I had to make a pharmacy run for him.

This pic is before it started raining hard... I got soaked, especially when I filled up with gas. There is a flat roof over the pumps. I was trying to stand behind the gas pump and still got even wetter. The rain was blowing sideways.

The weather here stinks on ice...and it's literally on ice. It has been snowing non-stop since early this morning and we have maybe 8" of fresh snow. We'll have more snow all night and well into tomorrow for a grand total of a foot or more of new snow on top of the couple feet from a few days ago. Not too bad, I guess, and nothing we can't handle. 'Tis the season, and all.

I remember how my wife was complaining this past July because we had multiple consecutive days of 95+ degrees. I don't miss her complaining, but I do miss the weather.

The ICE they forecast turned out to be a warm rain :( . It is 50 degrees and raining, so I ran out and opened up the raised bed tops. The rain and warm weather are expected to last until 15:00 then the temperatures should start dropping with an overnight low of 20F. The more free water I can get on my raised beds the better....

I dont understand all these people having problems driving on a little ice and snow. Doesn't everyone carry tire chains? I understand not putting studded tires on in areas where ice and snow are rare, but everyone should at least have a set of chains in there cars. We live with ice and snow from October through April. Most of our storms dump 1 to 3 feet of snow at a time, and up to an inch of freezing rain. Schools dont close, roads dont close, businesses dont close. All of our vehicles are 4 wheel drive and each have a set of studded tires for winter and heavy lug traction tires for summer. And we still carry chains.

We never had snow days growing up. The heat went out in the school and we still didn't have a snow day. They just said to bundle up & get to class.

40 years ago I did studded tires and chains when necessary. For some reason it felt necessary to be out to work if necessary or help someone. After a few experiences, it became clear that no one cared if you got hurt or damaged your vehicle going to work or doing them a favor. Now, I have no need to be out and about but am of the mindset that it ain’t worth it. Stay home and take care of what matters.

We got hammered yesterday; around 6"- 8" of snow. Sun is shining now but the temperature is 12 and the garage door is frozen shut. I am seriously looking at the bar trying to decide which bottle to grab.
