High 30s, partly cloudy, light breezes, occasional snow flake. No snow on the ground. Regular deer season ended last Sunday at sundown, essentially no snow on the ground this season. 70 years ago that that would be unusual, close to rare. We hunters would be complaining about not having "tracking snow" for tracking down wounded deer. Snow shows drops of blood way better than leaf litter. Quite a few of us were carrying elderly lever actions chambered in 32-20 or 32-40 Winchester. that usually didn't knock 'em down to stay, even with a good lung shot. I've trailed a gutshot deer that moved as I pulled the trigger for two days. Oops, this is a weather thread. Oh well . . .
