Tornadoes leave 2 dead in Texas, Mississippi as severe weather outbreak rattles Gulf Coast

Multiple tornadoes touched down across the southern U.S. on Saturday afternoon, including a deadly twister that hit Liverpool, Texas, early Saturday afternoon.

Multiple tornadoes touched down in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on Saturday afternoon, killing at least two people, as a wintertime severe weather outbreak rumbled through the Gulf Coast states.

Thunderstorms started to erupt early Saturday afternoon in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi and continued into Saturday night, racing east as day turned to night. One of the first tornadoes of the day was spotted in Katy, Texas, a western suburb of Houston.

"Listen, listen. Sounds like a train," one person said as they watched the twister from a distance.

A line of storms Saturday are responsible for more than 150 storm reports, including more than 30 reported tornadoes.

A long-tracked storm southeast of Houston led to multiple tornado reports over the span of several hours, starting near the town of Liverpool, Texas, where officials confirmed one fatality and four injuries.

"A tornado touched down earlier in the area between Liverpool and Hillcrest Village," Brazoria County Sheriff's Office said in a post on Facebook. "Deputies remain on the scene and are actively responding to assist with public safety."

The same tornado-producing storm then tracked near Dickinson around 1:45 p.m. CST before moving across Trinity Bay. It continued to track northeast, almost parallel to Interstate 10. By 4 p.m., a "confirmed, large and extremely dangerous tornado" was reported near Port Arthur. The same storm continued to race east, south of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

A night of long track tornadoes ahead. @snappy1 you there? Check in and let us know what's going on! She's in the middle of tonight's activities.

I've gotten about 2" of rain so far, raining now, will continue to rain. Flash flood warning being issued. I'm hoping the danger will die down after midnight else I'll be sitting up until the wee hours. 🥱
Checking in!
Tornadoes were all around us, but missed Magnolia completely.
I'm usually off the laptop on Sunday, so see you all tomorrow!

Following up on the Storm Damage over this weekend :

"The Storm Surge on Saturday night moved through Alabama, causing power outages and structural damage in some areas across the state.

But emerging from the rubble came a strong symbol of strength and freedom.

In Cropwell, AL on Sunday morning, an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy rescued an injured bald eagle. ABC 33/40's Valerie Bell shared photos of the eagle following his rescue."

Aid was quickly administered to the eagle and it is now being transported to the Auburn University Raptor Center for treatment.

At 30F today, damp cold, patchy whip cream fog.. Has been this the last few days and looks to continue through the weekend.. Dangerous as it would take very little change to make icy bridges, overpasses and the like.. And of course idiot drivers would make headlines with those kind of conditions..
